At first I was very excited to read this book, then I got skeptical when I saw it had over 100 chapter (130 chapters to be precise) and it didn’t help that the book started off slow at first with multiple POVs, I ended really liking this one.. I feel like I’ve been luck with my NetGalley picks recently, thank you NetGalley for this one

Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds: A Thriller by L. V. Pederson was an okay read for me. The story started off well for about the first quarter of the story, but then it got tedious to get through, and at times, I felt lost or not really following along. At first, I liked Madison, but then she just got annoying. My stomach did have butterflies as Madison started her first day at her new job. Always scary!

Madison starts her first real job as an executive assistant at a Silicon Valley tech giant and hopes to put her troubled life in Boston behind her. But that may not be possible. Her charismatic VP boss fills her with unease.  And when Madison uncovers his deadly secret, her ordinary life is thrust into a high-stakes conspiracy the FBI is desperate to crack.

There were parts that seemed implausible, and I couldn't wait to get to the end and just be done with the story. Sadly, this book just wasn't for me, but it may be a hit with other readers.

I really enjoyed this book. Adrenaline -rush, heart racing and furious pace. Long time since I read such a thriller ( in the true sense of the word!)

The plot is feasible, the characters are realistic and the sense of impending doom is palpable. Madison is fragile yet indestructible. Wills is determined and a super geek. I wondered if there might be a follow up - they seem too good to just abandon. I can imagine this as a movie! I don’t give 5* very often but this deserves 5 or more. Madison has lived with guilt over her father’s death on 9/11 as one of the passengers on that doomed flight into the twin towers. If only she had been selfish and made him stay for her birthday. She had moved to California and begun a new job. But there is something familiar about her new boss. Thus begins her quest for redemption for her father’s death. There are lots of terrifying twists and turns in this pulse pounding drama. It makes you pause and give thought to the world as it is today in the aftermath of 9/11. I recommend this book for all readers.

The intriguing premise in the blurb immediately captured my curiosity. Once I started reading I could not put the book down. It was a gripping and rewarding read from start to finish and is by far one of the best suspense thrillers I have read.

Without giving too much away, the plot centers around Madison, a young woman burdened with guilt from her past, who starts a new job at a tech giant. Her anxiety on the first day seems odd—could it be first-day jitters, or is there something more? Her life takes a dramatic turn when she suspects her boss is involved in her father’s death twenty years ago. This discovery thrusts her into a high-stakes conspiracy where danger lurks around every corner, and the ticking clock heightens the sense of urgency.

I appreciate that the protagonist is not typical. Madison is flawed, with many internal struggles and appears weak on the surface. Yet, she is thrown into an impossible situation involving FBI agent Niles’ agenda. I felt for Madison and worried for her throughout the story. The emotional stakes are just as high as the physical ones. The blend of historical events with modern-day suspense is executed flawlessly and with care. The narrative is both fresh and frightening.

I truly enjoyed this book. It is not just another cozy mystery or serial killer story. I can't wait to read the author's next thriller. Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Boy did I have issues with this. Unfortunately right off the bat I disliked this. I dont like when authors take real events and make them fiction just for the sake of their story. So it was hard to come back from this, but I kept going anyway and I still found Maddie annoying and unlikeable (and sometimes rude) and the writing wasnt my favourite. Too many exclamation points and Maddie sounded like a child.

“It looks like he’s from India.. Probably a software engineer” I actually face palmed reading this. And then Schmitt saying “he looks like a bloody Arab” I’m surprised I even continued this but I needed to see where this was going. But it really dragged on for too long.

Now I DO get that using 9/11 would make the readers understand how big of a deal this is, as opposed to making up a fake but huge event that shook the world, but to me, it didn’t work and I would have prefered a fictional event.

Madison's father was killed in the 9/11 terror attack when she was a six year old child. She feels guilty about his death as she so wanted to ask him to stay for her birthday party.
She gets a new job in California at a tech company, and feels uncomfortable about her boss, who she somehow recognizes.

This is an engrossing book with a plot that is not unlikely. What if the terror attack was just the beginning of something worse?
I liked most of the characters, and the fact that Madison was given so much support by the FBI.
The novel is tense, gripping and twisty.

While some of the technical terms were confusing to me, I recommend this book.

L.V. Pederson is a brand new author to me. I saw Nine Minutes Eleven Seconds, read the blurb and there I was!
I picked up my Kindle and began to read, after one chapter I was hooked. The way the author has created such multi layered characters lends to the fact this is an absolute page turner.
I connected with Madison, the main character almost immediately. I was so invested in her that I was on the edge of my seat a number of times as the chapters flew by. None of the characters are perfect, they all have their flaws, as we all do. Saying that though, the ones that needed to be vilified definitely raised those feelings within me.
I won't give away the plot I am just going to say, this is one emotive subject to base a thriller on. The tension racks up by the paragraph, never mind chapter. The reader is kept guessing until the last few chapters. This is one heck of an addictive read!

The book started off fast-paced and I was drawn into it quickly. However, it stalled after awhile and felt like it was longer than it needed to be. The excessive use of exclamation marks throughout the book was distracting and made parts of it awkward to read.

Madison gets a new job at a tech company and when she meets her new boss she can’t help but think he looks like one of the terrorists from 9/11 when she lost her dad in the attacks. During a group therapy session, she meets Will who lost both his parents in the same way and they bond. A few days later they get involved in something bigger than they ever expected.
One thing I was not comfortable with was the use of a name so close to one of the actual terrorists from 9/11 that for a while I thought that was him, it felt a little bit disrespectful of the real people who lost their lives, to use that for a story. That being said, the plot is clever and fast paced, a little bit unrealistic (Madison’s actions especially) but still really fun to read.

This was a fast paced thriller with some brilliant twists and lots of tension throughout. Not a book that will stick in my memory but a good way to pass a few hours

father died on the 9/11, a passenger in the 1st plane that hit the Twin Towers and she has never
gotten past that,
She has finally landed a job with a high-tech company as an exec asst to the owner and is eager to
begin anew; ready to start a new chapter in her life. But from her first walk into the building, her
vibes are on high alert, and she begins the sense of nothing being right here and possible danger lurking.
The business is a very successful startup in high tech security, and she can sense the cameras and
hidden devices watching every move that everyone makes.
As her inner radar sounds high alerts over her too smooth and polished boss, she is drawn into a plan
to unmask his real identity, believing him to be hiding who he is - the terrorist Attah who supposedly died
at the controls of the `1st AA plane to go into the towers.
As she starts to get too close, on her own secret campaign to unmask him, the FBI. who have been watching her boss and his company for
years step in and the absolute suspense grows by leaps and bounds.
The characters are solid and very well defined, and the plot is simply staggering.
Almost too incredible to believe but yet, not too incredible believe.
And that makes for a fascinating, heart pounding and frightening read.
Great thriller.

Wow, I didn’t realize this was the first novel by the Author. I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. The premise was very original, and unfortunately realistic. As someone who lived and worked in Manhattan on 9/11, this book was very meaningful to me. I liked most of the Characters and the storyline. I’m looking forward to the author’s next novel.
