I really enjoyed this book and the examples of the types of perfectionism people experience. The EVOLVE model, which is explained in more detail, was a new concept to me and made a lot of sense. But my favorite element of this book were the practical techniques to keep perfectionism (and it’s sometimes crippling side effects) at bay. The author encourages people to try these out during still moments (on the bus, waiting in line, walking the dog) and this approach is highly doable even with a busy lifestyle. Great read!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

This book helped me to see perfectionism in a new light. It explained the many types of perfectionism and how to work with the qualities you have to feel better about yourself.

Sometimes, I get the side effect of my perfectionism style in my work so I need to break free from that. Tara has shown to me three aspects such as inner worth, inner humanity, and inner leadership to adapt with my perfectionist style.

The title definitely pulled me in. Tara is a psychologist (not just an influencer) who takes you through EVOLVE: an acronym for embody the present moment, validate your experience, open your heart, love your inner critic, make a vow, and spark energies of excellence. I found the acronym to be wordy and way too long to remember, but the content was good. This is all about aligning your mind, body, and heart. I especially enjoyed the personal stories from people she has worked with.

This book is just what I needed. I’m currently halfway through my 4 year journey to becoming a psychotherapist and although I have worked extensively on my self awareness and lots of personal development, after 15 years of working in the finance sector the perfectionist in me is something i have failed to change or even shift slightly. I’m hoping that by revisiting this book I will be able to make inroads to progress to get out of the perfectionist mindset and hopefully be able to take some of that learning into my future profession to help others too.
