A bit of a tongue in cheek nod to all the Rom-Com tropes. Snarky but jaded Sawyer meets hopeless romantic Mason in an elevator that glitches for a brief moment. There is a pact to try to “un”Romance him using some tried and true scenes from romance novels and movies. These two had amazing chemistry and we knew there would be a mountain to climb to reach a HEA. Really great writing and there’s some beautiful moments along with spice to make you blush. Perfection!

Erin Connor can write any & all of my romance books for the rest of forever if they're going to be her debut "Unromance"

Thank you, Forever Pub, for the #gifted copy of this book for our traveling arc group [PUB DATE: Jan 14, 2025]

Hi, my name is Dani, and do I have this "you need to read this book because it's P E R F E C T I O N" recommendation.

I am talking about an author who celebrates everything that is love and romance tropes through this HILARIOUS story of a creatively slumped writer and a soap star who fall in love in the most unique way.

Erin gives us the perfect amount of goofy antics, spicy moments that will make you sweat, and Hallmark worthy dates that make this story addictive.

I seriously need more of this woman's romance novels because I was addicted to her sense of humor that she sprinkled throughout "Unromance." My face hurt from smiling and giggling so hard.

To round out this gush fest of a review, I am not one to cry at the end of books, but this hit me SO DEEP IN THE FEELS that I was ugly crying happy tears the last thirty pages.

Just a reminder this is called "Unromance" by Erin Connor. Just request it on NetGalley and pre-order now because *chefs kiss*

Thank you NetGalley & Forever Publishing for gifting me this ebook! Unromance by Erin Connor is for the Lovers of Love and rommance books! Mark your calendars, it will be out on Jan 14 2025!
Sawyer Greene, a bestselling romance author, is struggling with writer's block after a bad breakup. She has a one-night stand with actor Mason West, but they keep running into each other. Mason believes they’re meant to help each other: her with her writing, and him with his fear of heartbreak. They agree to no more sex and no falling in love. However, as they grow closer, they realize some romantic plots can't be controlled, and they might be headed for a real-life happy ending!
If you love contemporary romances, if you read the tropes of a book before picking it up and if you are okay with 3rd POV then this book is for you!

A sweet, fun meet cute! I loved Mason and Sawyer’s dynamic and couldn’t put this book down. It was hilarious and spicy…I will never look at a pair of tights the same again!

I loved their meet-cute! For part of the book, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I enjoyed their various dates that were stereotypical rom-com but wasn’t always following how they were meant to “ruin” them. But the concept was cute and I loved their banter and hoe their relationship grew. Overall, the book was enjoyable and made me want to watch all the rom-coms mentioned. :)

I really, really enjoyed this beautiful story so much! Sawyer and Mason were such a fun couple to read about. From their elevator meet cute, to falling in love, they were perfect. We love a hopeless romantic cinnamon roll man!

Thanks to Forever for the ARC! This book was an absolutely fabulous debut and romance lovers everywhere will adore it! I just finished it and I already miss Sawyer and Mason. The book is sprinkled with so many fun chick flick references and romance tropes and was just pure joy the entire way through! It's an easy 5 star read for me and it hooked me from the very first page! You would enjoy this book if you like:
Cinnamon roll MMC, celebrity romance, unlikely matches, and an adorable meet cute! See below for a synopsis:
Sawyer is a romance author who has had writer's block since her last breakup years previous. When she gets stuck in an elevator with Mason, a celebrity from a popular television show, and a hopeless romantic, she decides to have a night of fun with him even though she typically doesn't do one night stands. They go their separate ways but when they run into each other again, they team up to complete a list of romance tropes together. They have ups and downs in their relationship but the love feels so real and I just loved every minute. I'll be looking for more Erin Connor books in the future!

LISTEN!!!!!! I love tropes!!!!! I love romance!!!! I absolutely love a man hopeless romantic man who isn't afraid to fall in love okay!!!! He WANTS the butterflies! He craves the signals from the universe!! Every touch Means Something and he isn't afraid to feel it!!!!! Mason is a blueprint, I'm afraid.

I love a bisexual cynic who isn't really a cynic but just deeply hurt and abandoned!! Sawyer is funny and she's kind and she's MESSY and that's OKAY!!!!

Watching these two try to ruin each other on their illusions of love was so much fun. He's an actor that can't seem to keep a relationship, even though he's fully committed to settling down and SOON PLS. She's a romance author who is so jaded by her last relationship that she hasn't been able to write her next book, a romcom naturally.

They meet in an elevator(meet cute!!!), have a one night stand, and run into each other at a Christmas village a few weeks after Sawyer bolts the morning after (tropes tropes cliches and more tropes!!!) Their pact is this: he needs to have romance ruined for him so he can stay out of a relationship and out of the tabloids. She needs to finish her book and what better way to get inspiration than to go on cliche dates with a hot actor.

I just had a good freaking time reading this one, yall. There was humor, there was genuine conversation, there was seggggggs( yall we will never look at stockings the same again and I for one am so damn thankful!!!!), and there was romance in the big ways and in the smaller lovely ways, and those are what made this book special.

Thank you to Erin Connor for my galley copy, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was going to be a five star new favorite through at least 40%. At some point closer to the end the plot stalled out, and the ending was a bit unsatisfying. I liked that Sawyer was grumpy and against romance in all forms, and that Mason was the hopeless romantic. They settled into themselves and their friendship pretty well, but I felt like they just glossed over any real obstacles to get to the finish line after the third act breakup. Ultimately, this was a fun book, but it was missing something in the second half. I would like to see more from Erin Connor. The side characters felt developed enough that they could have been their own book at some point—I was actually surprised to find this was the only title under this author on goodreads.

Unromance was such a fun debut for any rom-com fans out there!

Sawyer, a romance author who doesn’t believe in relationships, and Mason, a TV heartthrob who falls head over heels too quickly, make a pact after they keep finding themselves in meet-cute situations. They will reenact all of the cliché romance tropes in hopes that Sawyer can ruin them for Mason, and Sawyer will get inspired to write a new book.

This story has so much chemistry; I was hooked on the first chapter! It was so fun reading about all the tropes we know and love in romance movies/books, with Sawyer and Mason’s take on them. I appreciated the little twist that Mason is the hopeless romantic in this book, which kept the story fresh. I was initially drawn to this book by the cover and synopsis and am so glad I read it, as I can see this being a new favorite to re-read in the future!

Thank you, Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and Erin Connor for the early access copy of Unromance.

Unromance follows the story of a romance writer who has major writers block and an actor who is lost in trying to find love. With a chance meeting and a delightful meet cute, the two embark on a journey to ruin romantic scenarios.

If you are looking for a story with a writer protagonist, romantic meet cutes, funny banter, and witnessing the importance of the small moments with a partner, this is the book for you.

I will always read a romcom that is self-aware enough to poke fun at rom-coms and I’ll always read one with a main character who is a writer! This one checked both boxes. While I did find Sawyer and Mason’s plan to “ruin” romance a little nonsensical, it was still a good time. The little trope definitions at the start of each chapter were so clever - the one in the final chapter sums the book up nicely: “one-night stand to strangers to friends to lovers to idiots to lovers.” Loved the references to other books and movies, loved the diversity of characters, and overall had a fun time reading this! I did feel like it could have ended a little sooner though. Four stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC!

A chance meeting of a romance author Sawyer with an actor Mason in an elevator spirals them into a relationship which clearly needed boundaries for their purpose of "unromance". She is working on get a hang in her writing and he needs to deal his public breakup with his co-actor and hopefully stay away from romance for a bit. This whole mission screams silly and you can guess where they are headed when their actions all say romance. Personally I liked Mason more than Sawyer and the tropes that they work on are literally the most popular romance tropes making this whole book a love letter to romance novels.

I was not the target audience for this book. While the premise was fun and plot progression was enjoyable, the FMC had a sense of humor that didn't land with me. It will definitely find a readership that enjoys her self-deprecating and pessimistic jokes, but the emotional disconnect from her character distracted me from the story.

I really enjoyed Mason's character as a fellow hopeless romantic. I wish we would've gone deeper with his character and explained more of his past and how it impacted his motivations, but he was definitely the highlight of this book for me!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for a digital ARC of Unromance.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get past chapter 3. I can handle spice, but this was too spicy too early for my taste so I fear the spice will outdo the plot. And the language is a little much for me.

I liked the writing style and the wit, so I'll give three stars. It's not for me but I know it will be good for others.

A romance writer who no longer believes in love, and an actor who is a hopeless romantic make a deal where he helps her get inspired to finish her book and she helps him be less naive in love.

At first I really liked seeing how they incorporated every cliché trope from romance books and gave it their own spin, plus Sawyer and Mason's relationship was very mischievous and fun.

I feel that at some point in the second half of the story I lost the spark of what caught my attention and I couldn't recover it later because the story felt eternal.

With that said, I think it does have potential and this could work amazingly for other people, it is a story with charismatic characters, with touches of drama and that makes you remember scenes from your favorite romance stories.

Congratulations to the author on her debut novel, I will be watching for her next releases!! And thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review 💘 P.S. : The cover is a dream, it was the first thing that caught me and then the synopsis convinced me

“With the right person, the most ordinary moments became grand.”

A wonderful debut. Connor gives us a love letter to romcoms and so many tropes.

A chapter in, and I felt this could be a fun read as both characters are likable and have immediate chemistry. I’m so glad I was right. Connor was consistent in her writing throughout giving us a diverse cast and queer rep and disability rep. Overall, a bit more smutty than I’ve read in a while (Sawyer is the most horny FMC), but I’m not complaining.

When their ONS leads to a second random chance encounter, hopeless romantic Mason is ready to stop romanticizing all the cliche moments by letting Sawyer ruin them all. And Sawyer, who has sworn off love and doesn’t believe in romance - despite writing it for a living - is ready to find inspiration for her VERY overdue book by planning out trope specific dates. A running list of dates by trope smack dab through the holidays delivers a deliciously funny and heartfelt debut.

Juggling glass and plastic balls and figuring out what to and hoping it’s plastic resonated HARD.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever/Hachette Book Group

A romance author (Sawyer) and actor (Mason) get stuck in an elevator together. This leads to a one night stand, which leads to an agreement. Sawyer will help Mason become immune to romance, and in the process, Sawyer will find inspiration to finish her latest novel.

Unromance is a really fun twist on your typical fake dating trope, and it doesn't disappoint. Sawyer's commitment to ruin all romcom cliches for Mason turns into a riotous adventure that you can't help but laugh at. Of course, despite the very important rules of no feelings and no sex, Mason and Sawyer find themselves learning what it truly means to be in love.

I loved this book from the first page. It rang of such sweetness and although the “mission” was so silly from the start, it was so fun to be along for that ride with these characters.

I absolutely loved that this book begins with a one night stand and then backtracks. The friendship that comes from that is so unencumbered and comfortable. It removes that “is this person sexually attracted to me” back and forth and really allows the characters to dig further into their deeper and relatable emotional insecurities. I really loved that dynamic.

I just genuinely found myself enjoying this book all the way through. It had holiday vibes but I would easily recommend this outside of holiday reading. I loved all the fun romcom references from the movies I watched growing up. Ugh. I just adored it!! Read it immediately! As soon as possible! I’m so so happy I was able to get this one through Netgalley and will be buying the physical copy of this one when it’s out!
