This book follows a romance author who has a one night stand but ends up running into him again. I was super excited for this book because of the storyline and the cover is so pretty, however I was a tad disappointed. The storyline was good but I didn’t like how the perspectives were written. It made it confusing with who was speaking. There also weren’t many conflicts in the book that kept it really entertaining.

Sawyer is the FMC of the story and I loved learning about the book industry from her side. She is having a hard time writing a book but I loved seeing her stay strong. Then we have Mason the MMC and I also enjoyed his character. He truly wants to be with Sawyer and I love how supportive he was of her. There were some side character but enough where the story didn’t astray from Sawyer and Mason. The romance is grumpy x sunshine and fake relationship which was well done but I wanted to see less drama at the end.

Overall this book was well done but I wish I enjoyed it as much as I was expecting. I heard great things from other readers which I was hoping I could also experience. I don’t know if it’s wasn’t the time for me but there were still some amazing scenes in this book.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!? 5 STARS. No notes.

This is a book for all my fellow rom-com movie lovers who wanted the male main character as the hopeless romantic and the female main character jaded and grumpy. I ate this book up and cackled and swooned throughout the entirety of it! The banter, the tension, and the steam were perfection! All of the rom-com movie nods made me so nostalgic and I loved them!

Unromance by Erin Conner is a refreshing and witty twist on the romance genre, delivering humor and heart with a modern, charming flair. The story follows Sawyer Greene, a disillusioned romance author, on her journey to rediscovering love. Her chemistry with the enigmatic Mason crackles with energy, even if their initial connection feels a touch fast-paced. The festive holiday market setting adds an extra layer of warmth and coziness, making it an ideal seasonal read. And yes, the cover is absolutely stunning! Overall, Unromance is a clever, trope-savvy take on love stories, blending humor and emotional depth to craft a satisfying romantic journey.

I think this book tired to be funny so many times and it missed for me. I got a lot of the parts in this and why they happened I just hated the whole ride. It took me out when it used the words "coochie mane" and I was out. I hated it here.

I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Absolutely gorgeous gorgeous book! I enjoyed reading this so much. It was the perfect mix of swoony moments, laugh out loud banter, and just so much cuteness and happiness all around. A definite must read and great debut! ❤

This one was so much fun! If you are a fan of romcoms in general, and a lover of all the different romance tropes, you’ll enjoy this. Each chapter had a really cute heading for each trope. Their story started off as a meet-cute and they make a deal to help one another out: Sawyer gets some writing inspiration to help with her writers block, and Mason gets to have romance ruined for him so he doesn’t fall too quickly next time. Despite this plan, it is a romance after all, so you know…. It’s bound to happen. They do fall in love. I loved their chemistry and I loved how much Mason loved love. My only criticism is that I found the end wrapped up a bit too quickly.

Thank you to the publisher for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

Unromance by Erin Conner offers a witty take on the romance genre, blending humor and heart in a way that feels both modern and charming. Sawyer Greene’s journey from jaded romance author to rediscovering love is engaging, and her chemistry with the mysterious stranger is electric, even if their initial connection feels a bit rushed. I liked the concept of trying to ruin love to cure Mason and enjoyed all of the outings that the oair undertake together. While the central conflict leans toward the dramatic side, the story’s lively cast of side characters and sharp, relatable dialogue keep it grounded and entertaining. The holiday market setting adds a cozy, festive vibe that enhances the book’s appeal. Love this cover. Overall, it’s a fun read that cleverly plays with romance tropes while delivering a satisfying love story.

Thank you to Net Galley & Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really love the trope of the romance writer losing her spark and then finding it while she falls for someone all over again. That’s what this book is… it’s all the cheesy things we love from rom-coms wrapped into one digestible story. I loved this one, and I cannot wait to see more from this author! My One qualm was third person but i got over that quickly because this book was amazing!!

Who doesn’t love a good romcom? Such a different story line compared to most books I’ve recently read but that’s what brought me to loving it. A one night stand turned to an adventure of not falling for each other.

I had much higher hopes for this book, truly. It wasn’t awful, and I can see how a lot of romance readers would really enjoy it. The biggest downfall for me is that I didn’t believe the connection between to the two MC’s at all. Starting with the one night stand it rapidly jumped into feelings, not quite instalove but close. The two characters didn’t seem believable together to me and I just couldn’t reconcile that, in my brain, still by the end of the story.
There was a lot of humour and heart here which was sweet and funny. There were so many good moments where I had thought my opinions would turn around, but sadly it never happened.

This book deserves all the love in the world with how relatable both c & mmc were throughout. I felt Sawyer heavily multiple times during this book and that ending was absolute chefs kiss

This book deserves all the hype. It’s as good as everyone says it is. I love the banter. I forgot I was reading and read it in one sitting.

The goods:
- The beginning of the book when you're focused on the unromancing, I really enjoyed.
- I personally liked Sawyer's tone of voice, but I don't think it's for everyone.
- I felt both Sawyer and Mason had a wealth of backstory for me to dig into to really understand them.

The loss of 2 stars:
- The second half of the book loses the fun of the unromancing for me, which was really sad.
- After losing the unromancing, i feel like the book doesn't really find a good pace again. I was just trying to get to the end during the last 1/4 of teh book.

Overall, if you're looking for a unique romance, this could be a good choice. However, you may want to read a preview beforehand to see if you like the tone of the book.

“Happily ever after is a journey, not a destination.”

This quote encapsulates the essence of this book. It was an enjoyable, quirky, and intriguing read. The story follows an author, Sawyer, and her meet-cute with a recently dumped actor, Mason. They struck a deal: Sawyer would ‘ruin’ romance for Mason while getting inspiration for her next book.

Set during the holiday season in Chicago, the novel follows the couple as they grapple with developing feelings, their pasts, exes, and family dynamics.

I particularly enjoyed the witty dialogue, banter, and chemistry between the characters. Their interactions with Mason’s family and Lily were delightful. The romantic tension was well-crafted and kept me engaged throughout.

However, I felt that Sawyer’s family drama was left unresolved, which was disappointing. Additionally, the issue of Mason’s ex and her unmentioned engagement was also left unresolved.

As the story progressed, it began to feel a bit repetitive, and it seemed as though both characters had lost their way and were merely going through the motions.

Despite these, I would still recommend this book to romance enthusiasts.

A fabulous, fun, flirty five star debut! What’s NOT to love about a book about love? (The epigraphs give so much i sight on Tom-coms!) Sawyer, a previously successful romance author is stuck writing another best seller, and Mason, a famous actor stuck on falling and loving too hard and too fast. After their true life, really real meet-cute, they strike up a pact to help each other. The banter was off the charts, laugh out loud funny, the chemistry was steamy, the plot and premise was unique and amazing. Thanks to the author, NetGalley and Forever Pub for the eARC.

As a romcom lover (both movies and books) this book was made for me. I loved the concept - taking familiar, beloved romance tropes and ‘ruining them’ for a hopeless romantic who falls too easily and loves too hard, at least if his dating track record is any indication. One of the things I appreciated most about this story was that it’s usually the woman who’s portrayed as starry-eyed and idealistic, while the guy is more jaded and anti-love/romance. It was fun seeing a guy who had so much love to give and was looking for the right woman who would appreciate that. Sawyer was seemingly NOT that woman, despite being a romance author, so it was fun watching things play out as they went from strangers to lovers to friends and back to lovers.

I loved this!! These characters are lovable in every way including their flaws. The concept was so much fun and I honestly couldn’t put this down. I think Mason is now one of my favorite MMCs because of how much he believes in love and all it has to offer. Sawer is so deserving of all the good things in her life and I enjoyed seeing her learn to accept that and be happy. I do wish more time was spent with the new year’s kiss and getting to know Mason’s family but other than that, I have no complaints! Such a great book!

Unromance was a fun, palette cleanser book! It's a fun take on all the popular romance tropes and on the idea that you can do these things and *not* fall in love with someone, despite what all the movies and books say. I really enjoyed both Mason and Sawyer's characters. I was able to empathize with Mason and his uncanny ability to fall for just about anyone. But I also empathized with the incredible pressure on Sawyer causing her inability to do the thing. I think I would have enjoyed this book a little more, had I read it during the Christmas season.

Mason and Sawyer have a meet cute when they momentarily get stuck in an elevator together. Faye brings them together again and after thinking his offer to get a drink elsewhere is actually asking for a one night stand, Sawyer agrees.

Weeks after their one night, they run into one another again. Neither wants a relationship so Mason comes up with a plan where they can pick each others brains and not fall in love-to not find romantic things romantic.

I thought this was a great concept for a story! I enjoyed Mason and Sawyer. A bit unrealistic that they could stay away from a relationship but I remind myself it’s a work of fiction!

From debut romance author Erin Connor, Unromance is UTTERLY CHARMING and is a wonderful tribute to the golden era of rom-coms, even while turning the big romantic moments on their head. I loved every second of it.

Sawyer is a romance writer--but she no longer believes in happy endings. She's suffering from writer's block and her deadline is looming...but then she meets a guy at a bar, and he takes her home for one night of no-strings fun. Mason, an actor on a popular TV show, just got officially dumped by his on and off-screen girlfriend, even though they'd been "on a break" for a while. Mason and Sawyer's stuck in an elevator together "meet cute" leads to a one-night stand, but when they keep running into each other, they take it as a sign. They agree to help each other out--she will help him overcome his hopeless romanticism, and he'll help her find her creative spark again. They tackle all the big "romantic tropes" one at a time, in order to prove that they don't always lead to lasting love--but in the process, love is exactly what they find.

Erin Connor did a WONDERFUL job bringing these two complex characters to life. Their dynamic was so much fun to read, and I loved the actor/author pairing. (And I loved that Sawyer didn't realize she'd slept with someone famous for a good hot minute.) The nods to my favorite movies was such a fun element of the plot, too, and the whole book was just such a vibe. 5/5 stars. No notes.
