This was a great idea book for your Lego and Minecraft loving minds. There were great options for every skill level imo. I do hope there are more books like this coming because it was a great jumping off point.
This was a cool book however inwish the items needed were listed to be able to put together the things in the pictures. My kids thought it was a cool book
My kids loved this book! It's super cute and kept their attention the whole time during reading. I highly recommend this book and will purchase a physical copy.
I was really expecting something different from the description of this book. Maybe more instructions throughout? It had great pictures and interesting ideas, but i felt it lacked a little on the 'how to do it' I think a very creative person could figure this out, or someone willing to put in the time, but as a whole, I felt that it would leave the builder frustrated and wanting to throw the book.
This is a really fun book. We have so many Legos and my kids love Minecraft so this book gave them so many building ideas. The books has so many different ideas for scenes, buildings, and characters. I also thought it was neat that the book has little info bits about the game as well. This was perfect for helping beat summer boredom. I like that it helped keep my kids creative and encouraged them to read and build.
When you have a child who loves Minecraft you find yourself looking for new books. Add in this same child being a lego lover and you found yourself a great book.
The book itself would be awesome if you knew ahead what exact pieces you need. Because hunting for these pieces you may or may not have is time consuming and frustrating.
While I enjoyed looking through this book, I wish the first page has wrote out which pieces would be needed.
My 8 year old son loves Minecraft and Legos so this book was perfect for him. He is very creative and this gave him some really good ideas. I like that the author gave options for other legos to use if you don’t have the exact ones in the picture. I thought that was a really great idea and lets children know that it doesn’t have to be exact and they can use their imagination.
I guess I went into this book expecting more instructions or something, and that may be on me because I have not read one of these since my kiddos were little. But it really felt short on so many fronts. While the builds were neat ideas and inspiration, and the instructions or guidance for each was helpful, if I was a younger reader - and this was really targeted to younger readers in my opinion - I would be frustrated. I would want to at least know what parts were used in building the various models in the book or, better yet, having some instructions. That would probably result in fewer builds, so maybe a balance between instructions, parts, and then ideas. And yes, a strong Lego builder could sort through most of these in some fashion, but not every child is a strong builder and many still want some guidance.
If someone is on the hunt for seeing some cool Minecraft builds, then maybe this would work for them. But if it's a reader interested in going beyond the idea to actually try the build themselves, this would fall very short of the mark.
My kids have loved exploring through this book and getting inspiration for Minecraft creations with Lego.
Exactly what I was hoping this would be! Tons of ideas for creative Minecraft building to inspire kids to create their own Minecraft worlds! A fun range of topics and ideas here!
What a fun book! My 5 year old daughter enjoyed looking through this book and trying to recreate her own Minecraft characters and figures. She loves Minecraft and Lego, so this was quite exciting for her. I do wish there were more instructions to make the building much easier, however, the book is still great!
Thank you NetGalley, DK Children, Shari Last, and Julia March for such a fun book!
This book is so fun! Of course, I cannot wait to try building the library. There are so many options and all ages will enjoy the activities in this book. I will definitely be purchasing it for my middle school library.
My boys absolutely LOVED this book!!!! It was so fun! Colorful, and full of great pictures and just such a fun book to read with kids.
Not even close to enough instruction/photos to make any of the pictured items. I wasn’t expecting a step by step tutorial, but something more than a photo and a suggestion or two would have been appreciated. This is little more than a photo book.
I requested this book to read with the kids I babysit and they loved it so much!! They used their real legos to follow along. This is definitely going to be their favorite book we always grab for. There was so much to read and keep them entertained
Do you know what elementary students love? Minecraft and Legos. While I do not share their passion for Minecraft, I still enjoy Legos, so I was excited to see a book about Lego Minecraft.
Pages feature Lego builds of Minecraft scenes and are excellent at explaining which pieces make the build and why those were chosen. There are also "Try This" ideas to allow children to be more creative with a nudge in the right direction.
I know this will be popular within my elementary school library, and I am adding this to my wishlist.
Thanks to NetGalley and DK for the eARC. All opinions are my own and are based on my experience as an elementary school librarian.
