This is a cute, simple, very basic introduction to the Dia de los Muertos celebration intended for the very youngest readers/listeners. It does the trick with colorful photos and illustrations. Wish this had been around when my kids were tiny tots.

I am so excited about this adorable little book. Part of a series all about holidays and festivals. This book tells us all about the Day of the Dead. A perfect for little ones board book. It is easy to hold, clean and read. Each page has a real life image with simple, easy to understand text. My little one loves the bright colors and learning about the celebration. This book is a fun, colorful way to teach young children about Day of the Dead. The illustrations and photos are colorful and eye catching and the text simple and engaging. I look forward to buying a copy of this book for my young niece.

This was a colorful and engaging story! I would absolutely share this book in my first grade classroom to introduce the Day of the Dead holiday. I rated it 4/5 because I would not call this a baby book. In my opinion, the text seems more suited to read to Kindergarten or First Grade aged children. The pictures are colorful and interesting for babies, however. The story also seems to end abruptly and it would have been nice to include when the holiday is celebrated. I also wish some of the picture captions would have included some Spanish words since it is a Mexican holiday. It is still a very nice book to introduce the Day of the Dead holiday to children.

Cute little book in line with the usual DK Baby's First series. Nice bright pictures and a small amount of text that parents can expand upon. High contrast images are perfect for young children. Great introduction to the celebration.

The title lives up to the book -- Baby's First Day of the Dead book. The text is sparse, as it should be for baby books. The book uses photographs and illustrations to highlight the text. It covers the highlights of Dia de los Muretos and some of the common ways the day is celebrated -- foods, decorations, practices, etc.

I was excited to see a kids book about Dia de los Muertos. The pictures are cute and facts are included that kids can understand. The ending does feel a bit abrupt, however. I really thought there would be another page or two to wrap things up.

Beautiful, colorful, children’s book about Day of the Dead! Children will love the pictures. I would purchase this as a gift book!

To be nitpicky, it ends a bit abruptly, seems like one more conclusion page could be included, and it also doesn’t share when the holiday is celebrated.

Thank you DK and NetGalley for the review copy!

Cute! The author accurately explained this holiday in simple terms that will be perfect for babies to understand and latch on to. While babies can't fully comprehend everything mentioned in this book, I think that this is a good introduction to this holiday, especially for kids whose families celebrate. Lastly, all of the images were super big and colorful, and I thought it was really smart for the author to include some basic onomatopoeia. This will only take the learning experience farther for babies. Bravo!

Don’t let the title fool you! This isn’t just for tots! Primary school-age children will adore this board book! Wonderful photos, great writing — what’s not to love! A wonderful introduction to el Día de los muertos for any age, as well as a great book for Mexican or Central American children.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, DK and DK Children in exchange for an honest review.
