This was graciously given to me by NetGalley years ago, but now I’m more active and using this account so I’m trying to rate my past books I was given. I know I rated it 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads because I really enjoyed it!
This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.
This definitely had its own time and place. I read it here and bought it when it came out, but I don't think it's lasted in my mind.
So our book starts off with Hadley running late to catch her plane to London. We soon find out that Hadley is going on her trip for her father's wedding. She has not seen her Dad in a year and is not really happy about the upcoming nuptials. This is where she meets Oliver. In the airport, waiting for their departure. He offers to give her a hand with her bags and they end up spending quite a lot of time together. They soon find out that they are close to each other on the plane and that is where they really get to know each other.
Hadley cannot understand how she is able to feel so close to Oliver after such a short time and she ends up telling him everything about her family and about her father. He tries to talk her through all of it including her claustrophobia.
I enjoyed the character of Hadley. Being the product of a blended family on both Mom and Dad's side, I totally understand her frustration and her feeling of loss. She just wants her family to come back together and is very angry with her father for letting it all fall apart. I cried through a few father/daughter moments in this book and thought back to my childhood! I remember being in Hadley's shoes.
Oliver....Oh, Oliver! He is perfect for Hadley, but also going through quite a family twist of his own. I think it was fate that brought them both together. Oliver helped Hadley in many ways in just a short 24 hour period.

My version of Oliver:)
The ending of the book ended sweetly, but with no hint of how the future would play out for these characters. I guess we just have to actually use our imaginations!
A great read, something many of my students will Enjoy. While I don't teach and wouldn't be able to use this in curriculum, it has a home on my office's book shelf.
