The Girl Who Couldn't Get Out is the 2nd book in The Salazar Redwood Forest series, by Lauren Street. I found this to be a good mystery with plenty of twists and turns. I do like the main character Sam, but she has plenty of baggage to go along with her character. At times it got pretty intense, and I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to end. I would recommend it to others.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

I fell in love with Sam from the very beginning and I am truly enjoying the series. Lauren has a gift with words that "cut deep" and make you feel what the characters are going through. Sam has had a rough life and is trying her hardest to make the best of each day. She also cannot turn her back on anyone who needs a helping hand. She gets caught up in a web of deep secrets and town politics surrounding the disappearance of a teenage girl. But she's a fighter and she'll do everything she can to get to the bottom of it! The story takes you through some dark paths and spins you right around while encouraging you to hope for a somewhat good outcome. Highly recommend!

Many thanks to the author and Netgalley for the advanced copy for an honest review. I'm looking forward to the next books in the series!

This second book in the Salazar Redwood Forest Thrillers presents former military police officer turn bartender Sam Salazar once again trying to help a woman in distress. In what appears to be a coincidence, Sam witnesses a woman being arrested on the front porch of the town of Rush's only private club (the Kalamack Club) and then is surprised when the same woman walks into the bar where she is working. Through a slow process of gaining the woman's trust, Sam learns that the woman is looking for answers about what happened to her daughter, Dina, who once worked at the Kalamack. The club is owned by the richest and most powerful man in Rush, and it holds some deep secrets not the least of which is an apparent haunting. As Sam tries to help the mother find answers, she also is dealing with problems in her personal life. The trailer park where she lives is the target of the new governor's attempts to ruin her life through supposed zoning laws. In addition, she has found roses outside her trailer two mornings in a row. They are not just any flowers; they are "Sophie roses." The connection to Sam's deceased daughter causes suspicion about who is trying to torture her. It's a fun and twisty novel with some surprises along the way. I hope future books in the series will allow Sam's personal life to develop further.

The girl who couldn't get out by Lauren Street is the 2nd book in the series of The girl who couldn't stop dying. Just as the first book this book did book did not disappoint. It was another psychological thriller that keep you guessing all the way to the end.

The series continues with Sam who lives in Redwood. Of course Sam can't say no to help when asked so she becomes invested on finding Dina's mystery and what happened to her while being in Redwood. The book has POV from Dina taking place 5 years ago, Sam, and Laila. The book kept me guessing on what happened to Dina and every twist would surprise me. Apart from Sam finding out Dina's mystery, Sync is trying to defend his land from the mayor.

I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a psychological thriller with multiple twists. I was not able to put down the book until I found out what happened to Dina.

I do recommend to approach the book with caution because it has addiction, suicide, suicide ideation, harassment, and paranormal activities.

I love a good strong female lead and that is exactly what you get in this book. It's a series though I feel you can totally read this one on it's own. This has twists and turns that I loved and am happy with how the story turned out. I see on Amazon there will be a 3rd book in the series so I'm excited for that and to read what's next.

THE GIRL WHO COULDN'T STOP DYING - I hated that I missed the first book of this series, I would have liked this book better. Otherwise, it was interesting after I read past the first few chapters; too much harping about the past without me knowing exactly what happened. Intriguing and intense story lines set at a good pace with believable characters made the pages turn rapidly. Hey Lauren, it's Bible Belt and God is uppercase case or better yet, use different expressions for 'oh my God' and 'thank God'. Source: Netgalley. 4*

The Bishop Smoky Mountain Thrillers:
BECAUSE ONE OF US WAS WRONG, Novella - This is a funny, interesting, intriguing and entertaining introduction to the Bishop Smokey Mountains series. Likeable characters, crimes like crazy, good story lines, and good humor. A must read first. Basic editing would have been nice. Source: Download through Hide Me Away, book one of the series. 5*

HIDE ME AWAY, #1 - Interesting. Intriguing. Good pacing. Hard to put down with all the happenings, the variety of characters, and some intense story lines. It was easy to figure out the murders, even with all the suspects. Good team work between the acting sheriff and the veteran in solving the crimes. I like the writing style of the author. Basic editing would have been nice. Source: the author. 5*

FUEL TO THE FLAME, #2 - This story picks up four months after Hide Me Away ends. I'm not sure why the author though it was important to rehash HMA in the first four chapters, and others, which made it difficult for me to keep reading since I read HMA. The story kicks into gear and turns out full of gory but not graphic crimes, mixed with more crimes and plenty of action. Thar's a bit of crazy going on in those mountains. Intense story lines. Basic editing would have been nice. Source: BookSprout. 4*

CLOSER BY THE HOUR, #3 - Rather intriguing and a bit gory, but not graphically detailed, and definitely difficult to put down, the interesting, well written story lines and good characters made for an immersing, entertaining read. A good pace, terrible crimes and poor ole Rileigh getting herself into plenty of "Oh, snap" situations. Some humor, and Lily and Daisy are hoots. A little predictable but well worth reading. Now, a little bit of editing .... Source: BookSprout. 5*

A GAMBLE EITHER WAY, #4 - Interesting and hard to put down with all kinds of happenings, and on a paddlewheel steamboat. Hairy story lines with good characters and a constant pace. Intense. Intriguing. Editing is better. Source: The author, ARC. 5*

HERE YOU COME AGAIN, #7 - Very interesting and intriguing and too easy to solve, but still a good read. Enjoyable characters with a dark story line balanced with a possible romance brewing. I enjoy this series, eventhough I do not understand the lack of basic editing; closing a sentence before a partial quote, Bible Belt and such in lowercase, etc. Source: NetGalley. 4*

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read The girl who couldn't get out by Lauren Street. This is the 2nd book in a series, and while I usually want to start at the beginning, I had no problem getting into the story. A good mystery with twists, I really liked the main character Sam Salazar. A former MP and recovering alcoholic, Sam just wants to get through life peacefully, but ends up investigating a girl's disappearance.
Sam's character reminds me of other female leads that I enjoy reading. I can't wait to go back and read the 1st book!

Sam is back! This is a second in this series and another fast paced thriller! Angela comes to town trying to find out what happened to her daughter Dina. What Sam and Angela uncovers is another cover up by the towns officials. Love this series ! You will love it as much as I do! This series is a really quick read!

This is an in-depth thriller with plenty of detail, including red herrings and twists to keep you very focused. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters better, including more of the back story. The themes of alcoholism are handled well, with uncanny insight into the impact on the individual’s whole life and circle. Even though this was longer than I anticipated, the pacing was very good and I didn’t find it dragging, rather, the complexities of the plot kept me riveted,

The Girl Who Couldn't Get Out by Lauren Street was a thriller that kept me guessing until the end!
I enjoyed the characters, the twists, the writing and how intriguing the story was.
A tightly plotted mystery with so many twisty angles.
Full of dizzying twists and turns that will keep readers riveted to its pages.

Sam Salazar is a former MP. She is a recovering alcoholic and works as a bartender.
A woman, Angela, comes looking for her daughter who disappeared five years ago after working in the town.
Sam finds out that Dina worked at the Kalamack Club.
The Kalamack Club is a place with a reputation. The owner is a man who thinks he owns the whole town.
Strange things start happening, almost driving Sam back to drink.

This is a twisty, mysterious novel. Good investigation work by Sam, with subplots, hauntings and murder.
The novel is long. Very long. Stephen King long. I feel it could have been shortened a bit, but I did enjoy it.

It is the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

I like the main character, Sam. She has flaws, but her heart is in the right place.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sterling & Stone for the opportunity to read this.

Sam is former military police, former addict and now works as a bartender. A stranger comes to town looking into the disappearance of her daughter. Five years ago. Sam has her own problems but is always helping others. She decides to help this woman but it seems most of the town is involved and it centers around the Kalamack Club. An exclusive club for the rich and powerful. They play by their own rules and nobody dares to go against them. The more Sam finds out, the more dangerous it becomes.
I could not put this down! Secrets. Mystery. Surprises. A hard ass woman. Ghosts. This can be read alone. No sex. Profanity. Second book in this series.

Horrible language, mass confusion, and unlikable characters made this book one I didn't finish or enjoy.

The missing are never just gone in Rush; they’re silenced by something more sinister! Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, a sort of who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The story was interesting! It’s definitely worth reading but it wasn’t one of my top favorite reads! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
