📚MY REVIEW:
Eleven Liars is the second book in the unputdownable Ben Harper crime thriller series, and like its predecessor, it delivers a thrilling mystery set in this small English town.
This book brings us back to small town Haddley, with a town full of secrets that seem to leave no one unscathed. This time, Harper finds himself embroiled in yet another deadly mystery in which the stories of the past don't seem to reveal the whole truth. After a fire destroys the community centre, the police discover a body in the building's foundation, clearly hidden there during the building's construction decades ago. But when the victim's identity is discovered, it unravels years of secrets that so many people kept under wraps. Can Harper figure out the truth before anyone else gets hurt -- or worse?
Oh, I just LOVE these Ben Harper books! They are so fast-paced and so twisty, I'm always shocked at how quickly I read them -- despite the book being more than 400 pages! I love the dark secrets hidden in this town and I'm so captivated by the ways these same characters unravel the mysterious dark secrets until the truth is revealed. The multiple POVs, loveable characters, short chapters and divided segments of the book keep me engaged and on the edge-of-my-seat from cover-to-cover. I can never see all the twists and turns coming! I LOVE the way Gold can so subtly drop a fictional bomb into the story with such finesse, that it's often not until I'm halfway into the next page before I stop and say, "Wait a minute...WHAT did I just read?!" Truly brilliant.
If you're looking for a really gripping and fast-paced thriller series, in a similar style to Hannah Morrissey's Black Harbor reads, you've simply GOT to get your hands on this Ben Harper series! While you could read each book as a standalone, you're not going to want to miss any of this series once you start reading. Books 1-3 are out now, and Book 4 drops on April 10th!

This series is so well crafted. I want to sit inside Gold's mind to understand how he keeps it all straight. I found the book being broken into eleven parts clever. The central perspective is Ben's, though we see some things through other lenses. I love the mixed timelines and past meeting present elements.
I live in a small town, so small town thrillers always grab me, but nothing like this happens here! The secrets contained in the past are coming loose, and there is a ticking clock to solve the case. Survival becomes paramount and the truth may get lost in the muddled mess, unless Ben can weave between the chaos and make sense of everything. This series is SO WELL DONE.

When I've really loved a book, I'm always a little cautious to read the sequel or subsequent novels in the series. In this case, I didn't need to worry at all, in fact, I think I enjoyed this second book in the Ben Harper series even more! What I really enjoyed this time was that more of the focus was on the crime / investigation because we had already been introduced to the main characters in the first book. At the same time we were given a more detailed look at Dani's past and some of the other things that weren't resolved last time around. The mystery element in this book was really intriguing, I love the fact that such a small community has such dark secrets. It really plays on the idea that you never really know what's going on behind closed doors. I'm very much looking forward to the third book in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
I very much enjoyed this book. The writing was great and the characters were well developed. I hope to read more from this author in the future.

Sometimes, a book series is a disappointment, but I enjoyed Twelve Secrets so much that I was anxious to find out who the Eleven Liars were going to be! The characters were familiar and felt like friends. The mysterious occurrences added suspense but left me guessing until the conclusion! The pieces fit together in a complete puzzle that made so much sense, yet I had no clue what the final picture would be. Well written, well thought out plot and characters! Ready to start the next book in the countdown!

I have such mixed feelings about this story. I think it is better than the first book, but the story moves so slow I have a hard time staying engaged with it. The characters are great, the plot is interesting, but the pacing is so slow for me. When there is action/suspense that part moves quickly, but the rest does not. Don't let me dissuade you from reading this book if the blurb sounds interesting to you. This just isn't one for me. It happens.

Wow, must be something in the air, a town full of secrets, lies, betrayals, and deals that go back decades, but building through time. Evil hiding in plain sight and causing ripple effects across many lives in many ways - and a deep betrayal still hiding that no one expects. A must read for murder mystery fans!

Reading Between the Wines book review #77/130 for 2024:
Rating: 4 🍷🍷🍷🍷
Book: Eleven Liars (Ben Harper Book 2)
Author: Robert Gold
Available now!!
Sipping thoughts: Ben Harper is at it again. He jumps in to help solve another murder. It hits close to home but this time it is his friend’s PC Dani Cash home. I really like how there are quite a few characters, but Gold doesn’t make it hard to follow who they are and what they bring to the story. I can’t wait to read Book 3.
Cheers and thank you to @Bookouture and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @ElevenLiars.

You get a nice follow up to the first book in the series with reading Eleven Liars.
There are a few returning characters from Twelve Secrets. I recommend reading this series in order. There is so much backstory to main character, Ben, that you need to know about.

Second in the series about Ben Harper, who is starting a podcast to tell his brother's story. While walking home, he encounters a fire with someone trapped inside and tries to save them, only to have them run away. He gets involved in the investigation, which ties to Dani's past. 3 stars.

This story had me on the edge of my seat and as the story went on things happened and the quicker I flipped.
There are a lot of twists and turns that left me guessing.
Well written, suspenseful, and fun to read.

I think Twelve Secrets was my out of the three I read in this series. I enjoyed each of the endings but these books were not must reads, just ok! I wasn’t a fan of the main characters. But the storylines were good! Thanks!

Well written with great characters. This one was almost as good as the first one. Dark and twisted. This takes you into the gritty underbelly of a normal town. There was a different story line but I did find this was very similar to the first book as far as the story went. But overall a good read

Really good cop thriller! I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to read more from this series!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

WOW WOW WOW! Robert Gold is continuing where he left off in his first book with Ben Harper. Still recovering and dealing with what happened in book 1, Ben witnesses and subsequently decides to investigate a fire in the old community center. He and his friend, Dani Cash, are working together examining the ruins when they find a body. And, saddened to learn that it is Dani's Mom -- who supposedly died in a house fire years ago. In true fashion, Ben keeps asking questions to dig deeper into the fire as well as Dani's Mom's death. Eleven Liars is a well written and plotted mystery - and I cannot wait to ready Book 3! I'm hooked! Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

This book was insane! It was twisted, it was gripping but it was so darn good! Wow!… So many twists it had my mind BLOWN every page down to the last sentence!!!… My mind was spinning to keep up with all the twists… A must read series

Another excellent mystery thriller starring Ben Harper, true crime journalist. The author provides a thorough back story allowing a reader to enjoy this as a standalone book. That being said, I would still recommend reading the first book in the series, Twelve Secrets (5🌟). Eleven Liars is well-written with great characters and an “on the edge of your seat” plot. The shocking ending was fantastic!
Can’t wait to start #3, Ten Seconds, now!!
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Book #2 in the Ben Harper series. The small town of Haddley is still reeling from the revelations of the killers in TWELVE SECRETS, book #1 in what has quickly become a favorite series of mine. When Ben discovers a fire in the old community center, he breaks down a locked door to rescue a person locked inside the burning building. His actions will stir up enough history that Ben will decide this story has too many secrets to remain untold. Readers will recognize the cast of characters from book #1 along with a few new characters and more than one or two ghosts. Clues multiply as the ripples spread from the church to the police station and back. Another excellent book that I read in one day.

Eleven Liars is the second book in Robert Gold's new crime novel series. I read the first book and really liked it. This next installment allows readers to get to know Ben and Dani more.
The story was very good and intriguing. It is told from various perspectives and concludes in a satisfying and entertaining manner.
When a fire burns the local community center, there are lots of questions. Ben Harper is the only witness, but when the person he saved flees the scene, Ben knows this blaze was no accident. Then, the police find a skeleton among the ashes.
Teaming up with his close friend, PC Dani Cash, they examine the remains and uncover a brutal twenty-year-old murder, and make an earth-shattering discovery. The ash-covered bones belong to Dani’s mother.
However, Dani’s mother supposedly died in a house fire years ago. Who killed Dani’s mother all those years ago? And, if her remains are here, who is buried in her grave?
Eleven Liars is a gripping novel that the author skillfully unravels into a compelling mystery. The author created credible characters and an atmospheric locale.
I would recommend this book and this series. A very good new crime thriller drama.
