The premise is intriguing, and the writing is easy to follow, but the story unfolds at a slow pace, making it difficult to stay fully engaged.
I felt that Ana could've been more engaging if there was just a bit more depth to her character. The suspense builds gradually, and the ending saved this from being a lower rating, but more development and a quicker pace and this had the potential to be 5 ⭐
Overall, it’s an okay read for fans of domestic thrillers, but it doesn’t offer anything particularly fresh or gripping. If you’re looking for a light, easy thriller, this might work, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

I listened to this as an audio book and was absolutely hooked, I listened to most of it in one day and could wait to finish listening the next day. The narrator was great at building the suspense and keeping to the pacing and excitement of the book. Two best friends who live across the street from each other, both keeping their own secrets from each other, but for how long? The relationships in this book are everything. The best-friend relationship Anna and Lily share. Lily’s loving relationship with Anna’s daughter Cassie. Anna’s relationship with her brother Tim. And the hidden relationship(s) that are revealed at just the right time. Then factor in the twists and turns, and this book will leave you thinking and even hurting a bit.

3.5 out of 5 stars! Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook of The House Across the Street by Hill Childs, narrated by Kristin Atherton.
This is my first book by this author and read by this narrator! This was a story def filled with twist plots and got me hooked from the beginning. What was scary to believe is that the characters are "normal" people and the story is told from various POV. This was very well done and the narrator did a fantastic job having me listen. I was able to guess the ending but I still enjoyed this. I will be recommending this book!

I loved The House Across the Street by Jill Childsand narrated by Kristin Atherton, it was an audiobook that gripped me from the beginning till the very end, especially as it was full of twists and turns throughout. The characters are just normal everyday folk and fitted in well in Jill's latest book.
I highly recommend this audiobook/book. Another great book.
The narrator, Kristin Atherton was excellent and kept me listening till the early hours of the morning.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio and Bookouture for my ARC.

A book about two families living on the same street in the North of England. Anna, a single mother to daughter Cassie is best friends with Lily who lives down the street. Anna's brother Tim is also living with Anna after having returned from London. Old memories and serious allegations and confessions are made when Lily and George's father is found brutally murdered in his home by Anna.
An engaging audiobook with a few twists, told from various POV.

I had pretty high hopes for this domestic thriller after reading the description and other reviews. However, I found myself losing interest towards the end of the book and just waiting for it to be finished. I thought it started off pretty strong but quickly became too predictable. The characters needed a bit more development to have the reveal make a bigger impact as well. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I recently stumbled upon the gripping thriller "The House Across The Street" and it was a delightful read. From the beginning, I found myself able to predict the identity of the "person of interest," which wasn't particularly surprising. However, what truly shocked me was the unexpected revelation of the reason behind their actions, which only became clear towards the end of the story. The characters in the novel are exceptionally well-developed and unforgettable, adding depth to the narrative. The carefully crafted suspense kept me engaged throughout, and I found it to be a quality I always seek in the thrillers I read.
Overall, the book is a compelling page-turner. Having read previous works by Jill Childs, I appreciate her writing style and storytelling prowess. I want to extend my gratitude to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of the story, allowing me to experience this captivating novel ahead of its release.

“We've all told lies, terrible lies.” Lies, deception, and betrayal infest the lives of family and friends. Who is lying to whom? What will happen if secrets are revealed? Long-held confidences are put to the test in this twisted tale of buried deceit. The shocking conclusion, I never saw coming. The final twist was jaw-dropping. The narration masterfully brought the characters to life while adding a layer of intrigue and intensity to this emotional thriller. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

This book had good plot twists and kept me interested. There are so many characters that are introduced so it does take a little time to get familiar with. The pace of the book was great and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The House Across the Street
Totally gripping psychological suspense packed with twists
by Jill Childs
Narrated by Kristin Atherton
The House Across the Street is a book that hooks you from the opening death, gets a little slower in the middle for more of a slow burn type feel, then pick back up again at the end. The characters were fun and complex and I was invested to find out what the actual deal was. The narration was well done and added life to the characters. The main women characters had a different dynamic than your typical whodunit, because of the relationship that they had growing up and with Anna's relationship with Lilly's father, the doctor.
Thanks so much to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen to and review this ARC!

The House Across The Street, written by Jill Childs and narrated by Kristin Atherton is a family mystery that kept me guessing till the very end! The book opens with one of the main characters Anna, who lives with her brother Tim and daughter Cassie across the street from her best friend Lily and Lily's brother George. Anna is having a coming home party for Tim, who has just moved back home, when Anna notices something intriguing happening across the street. This event creates plenty of emotions and lots of mystery, which continues throughout the book.
I really enjoyed this book, and definitely recommend it. I liked the multiple questions that I had as a reader through the book, and I loved how the reader finds out one of the book mysteries alongside young Cassie. Thank you to NetGalley and to the author, narrator, and publisher for an ALC of this great mystery, in exchange for an honest review.

I like a book with a good plot twist. This one offered that. While it wasn't the best thriller I've read, it still kept me interested.
It took a little turn for the creepy one we got to know more about the doctor everyone knew and loved so much. They were shocked he would have been killed by anyway being such a great person. The story starts to unfold more about his character and his relationship with his children, including the little girl who lived across the street and became a surrogate father to her, even though she had a dad in her life.
I guess this story has been told before and it could have been told a little better.

I really enjoyed this one! Thank you netgalley for the advanced audiobook copy. I will be telling my friends!

Really fast paced thriller, I enjoyed the storyline and how the book kept you on the edge of your seat!
3.5 stars rounded up to 4

Lots of twists and turns in this book so many characters to get to grips with and the relationships between them. Once I’ve got used to all these I found this story intriguing and was intrigued to see where it went to. I really enjoyed the narration and the story as a whole although very far-fetched was good..

This book was not a conventional thriller in some ways, but it was still great and kept me guessing. I did not see that twist coming in the end. This was fast paced and enjoyable reading experience.

I loved this audiobook I listened to it in a day I couldn’t stop! Id highly recommend this to anyone. Nice narration amazing plot.

I listened to this as an audio book and was absolutely hooked, I listened to most of it in one day and could wait to finish listening the next day. The narrator was great at building the suspense and keeping to the pacing and excitement of the book.

The beginning started off with a bang and as the story line went on it started to feel boring. I could not focus on it but once you got to the end that’s when it started to get interesting. Things happened that I was not expecting.
