This was a hard one for me to write and read, I felt bad because I read so many 5 star reviews and expected to love it, but I didn't. I just couldn't get into it, and I just didn't feel connected to the characters. I felt as if I had missed something and was jumping in on the second book in the series, even though I wasn't. There was quite a lot of backstory to catch up on, and I felt that we were rehashing it often. I also found that I would put it down and not really want to pick it up again, which is why it has taken so long for me to write this review. I know many people who loved Gudrid and her viking family, but this book just wasn't a good fit for me personally.
