This audiobook was absolutely amazing, and the narrators did such a great job at bringing the story to life! This was a cute romance, but tackled some heavy topics too.
This was my first Kasey Stockton book and now I need more. It was a perfect summer read with great characters. I love that Cat was down to earth, bubbly, and enjoyed helping others. Noah was generous, sweet, and swoony. I really related to Noah and loved the anxiety representation in this book. It was done well and and with great care to Noah's character. Cat was a wonderful partner to Noah and knew just how to ease his anxiety.
The narration in this book was amazing! It was told in duet narration and I was so engaged and hooked into this story. Rylee Kuberra and John Rodgers nailed these characters and really brought them and their story to life. 5/5 stars for narration!
This book was a super cute summer read! It’s the second book in the Falling for Summer book series. They all take place in the same world, Sunset Harbor, FL, and they’re all interconnected even though they’re written by 7 different authors! I’m so excited to read them all! I haven’t had a chance to read the first but they all should be able to be read as standalones.
In this book, Cat is working at her family’s bed and breakfast when she finds out she needs to make extra money to cover her uncle’s medical bills and save their home. Noah is part of a rich island family that Cat does not like, even if he is very attractive. Noah has had a crush on Cat since middle school.
When they accidentally run into one another on the beach, they connect and Noah offers to hire Cat to be his island PA in order to help her pay her uncle’s bills without making it look like a gift.
Noah is a sweet, nerdy billionaire building his own company. He deals with anxiety in this book.
Cat is hardworking and funny. She lost both of her parents to a rip tide accident when she was a child and she ends up living with her uncle. Her uncle gets cancer, and thankfully it gets treated successfully. But she’s still learned to be very strong on her own.
I enjoyed this story. The two main characters had good banter and their chemistry seemed genuine. I’m excited to read more from this series and I hope Cat and Noah will pop up around the island later on!
I listened to the audiobook for this reading and there was one male and one female narrator. The male narrated anything that a man said and Noah’s parts and the female narrated anything a woman said and Cat’s parts. At first it was kind of jarring to be listening to the female narrate Cat’s chapter and then have the male pop in for back and forth dialogue but then I got used to it and it was kind of fun!
The book is already out but the audiobook comes out on July 6th! Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the arc for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review!
So cute, so sweet.
I love Kat and Noah. This was such a sweet love story, especially because they are so lost for each other.
Quick takes:
🎮 forced proximity
🎮 billionaire
🎮 he falls first, harbors a crush from forever ago
🎮 enemy’s brother
I love that Noah is so kind and sweet to her. He’s a genuinely good guy, wants to help her even though he knows she isn’t interested. Soooo sweet. Some of the way he referred to himself felt a little clunky, but otherwise I just really loved his character.
Kay’s fiesty but kind, and I love it. She is such a hard worker and I can see why he loves her. And her relationships with her uncle and friends are so sweet.
I listened to the audio and I really liked both narrators. They did the things where they even voice make and female characters in the other’s chapters. Love that. They both did an excellent job of making each character sound different. I liked it. I also listened on various speeds, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and they all sounded great.
I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book is very cute! I loved the beach setting and that it’s a he falls first trope. Kat and Noah are adorable in that they both are crushing on each other but they don’t know the other likes them. Noah fights anxiety and Kat is able to help calm him and then later cares for him when he gets sick. It did feel a bit slow at times, overall it’s one I would recommend to read to a friend but it’s not anything super special.
The cover screams summer read, and it’s spot on! This is a sweet, light read perfect for anytime, but specifically with your feet in the sand. This wasn’t just romance, it was also loyalty, forgiveness, and family. I listened to the audio version, in which the multicast narrators were enjoyable to listen to. I would highly recommend the audio version when reading this book. This is a clean romance with no spice. As a reader who enjoys romance with a touch of spice, I found this to be a good palette cleanser!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARc.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media | Golden Owl Press for the ARC of Beachy Keen
I was looking for some cute beachy romance’s to read and this certainly was one that caught my eye. I loved when going into the audiobook we had a dual POV which always brings the story to life. Both the narrators did a splendid job getting the emotions and the timing right.
🧡 Billionaire
💛 Small Island Town
🧡 Boss - Employee
💛Misunderstood Meet Cute
🧡 Nicknames
💛Super Hot Guy (obviously)
🧡 Secret Crush
One of the things i loved going into this was the Anxiety rep coming from a mans pov, i don’t get to read many of those and i really enjoyed it in this read. I liked that you had a the billionaire who has to be perfect but then likes a women who wants less, wants to help others and has lost so much yet her heart is always in the right place.
I mean this was just the cutest read and the cover is very much a “read this cause the cover” moment. I will be adding the other books onto my must read.
4/5 stars
A cute small town (kinda billionaire) romance! I love how in love with her he was and had been.
Beachy Keen is a cute, funny, clever romcom. I loved the setting, and the different personalities of the two main characters. I thought they were complex, but the story was lighthearted and easy to binge read. I would definitely read the others within this series after this book as well, and was intrigued by the hints of the romances blooming in the supporting characters’ lives.
This is a closed door romance, but it doesn’t feel closed door. The characters are definitely attracted to one another, and interested in each other in sexy ways, and the way the story unfolds it doesn’t feel like the reader is missing out on the sexy scenes. This perspective also keeps it clean for those who prefer the closed door approach to their romance reads.
I listened to the audiobook, which was well done by two narrators. This audiobook has the male narrator read all male dialogue, and the female narrator read all female dialogue. This means, during the female MCs POV, if there’s dialogue with a male character, the male narrator reads it! This is such a cool concept, one I could definitely get behind with romance stories. I listened to this audiobook at 2x speed (my normal audiobook listening speed is 1.75-2x speed).
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook copy.
The story was really good. It was well written. Kept attention. I feel like I would have loved this book more if I would have read it. The narrator was a little hard to understand at times, and they didn’t seem to be apart of the book and tell it in the best way possible.
This was so cute!
I love romcoms and this one is summer themed so I had to pick it up. It’s an office romance with friends to lovers. The pining was done so well and I think the romance progressed at a good pace. I enjoyed their chemistry and thought this couple was adorable.
Totally bingeable!
The narrator did a wonderful job too. Really brought life to the story.
This book was a miss for me. This read more as a Y/A story with what I am assuming the characters to be in their mid 20s.. Some of their interactions and use of today’s slang brought me to these thoughts. Cat’s narrator made her sound young and ditzy , while Noah’s narrator sound stoic and older. Thank you to NetGalley for this free sdbanced copy . I’m leaving this review voluntarily
The duet audiobook narration was really enjoyable to listen to.
This was a charming and sweet romance book that's part of a series by different authors creating stories all taking place in the same summer beach island of Summer Harbor. Clean, quick, and light listen! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Kasey Stockton is one of those authors who’s been on my TBR for a long time but it is this new multi-author series that has made me finally get her book into my ears - and I’m really glad I finally did it! She immersed me into the world of Cat (Catalina) and Noah and the island of Sunset Harbor. I couldn’t put it down!
It’s a great unrequited crush since teenage years story, when a prodigal son billionaire returns to the island, to his family resort, to take a forced vacation from work after anxiety drives him from the office (this book has great anxiety and mental health representation), and he “rescues“ a “drowning“ woman from the surf… Cat really just chased something into the water and screamed out her frustration. The pair had admired each other from afar back in grade school, but after Noah’s sister Olive decided one day she no longer wanted to be Cat’s friend, she bullied her instead, so Noah never had a chance. He takes a new opportunity now to hire her as his PA to help with a medical bill she discovered her uncle hid from her, so they don’t run into financial ruin… and so he can finally get close to her - even if it’s only for the summer.
So many fantastic tropes all in one book here and they blended together brilliantly! Even though it was a sweet and swoony (clean/closed door), I didn’t miss this one not having steam in it. We have the billionaire, the island/small town, the boss/employee, the sickbed scene, just to name a couple excellent tropes included. I definitely recommend it, but get the audio! I’m looking forward to the rest of the series to see how the other characters tie-in.
Narrated by Rylee Kuberra and John Rogers, both new voices to me (listening non-stop to audio for about 15 years it never ceases to amaze me when I hear great new voices appear). They did a great job as Cat and Noah - they really suited these characters - and I look forward to more great performances from both in the future! I liked that while it wasn’t a true duet, it was very close.
I received an advance listen copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media/Golden Owl Press, and this is my honest feedback.
First I have to say the audiobook narration was perfection. It’s Duet and really brought it to life.
Easy to read and left me entertained. I listened to it in one day. My only complaint is I wish they would have gotten together a little earlier in the book. Although, I was thankful for no third act breakup due to the above. The topic of anxiety is spread throughout this book and as a fellow sufferer I really liked how it was represented. It felt realistic to me. Definitely check out the extended future epilogue from the author. It was great getting a glimpse of their life and love in 4 years!
I received this audiobook ARC via NetGalley for free. It did not have any baring on my review.
A cute, clean, ultra cheesy summer romance.
I like that Cat did everything she could to help her uncle because of everything he did to raise her. Her nicknames for Noah were both cute and callous; while creative, the names also signified all she saw of him was his money. I felt Cat was somewhat childish due to her holding what went down with his sister against him when he had no part in it.
Noah was sweet. I like how he helped Cat help herself. And I liked that HE was the one with the anxiety problems, not her. It was refreshing to see a not-perfect MMC. But they were there for each other, and that's what counts.
The marketing photo shoot and blackberry picking were my two favorite scenes.
I did like how Cat and his sister solved their past issues and handled them like mature adults - once Cat "grew up" and actually talked to her. I was worried the sister would still be bratty like her best friend. I fully expected and was pleasantly surprised there was no OW drama with his ex.
Side note: Was La Croix an investor or something? It was mentioned at least 20 times.
3.5 stars rounded up.
This was a sweet dual POV, forced proximity, billionaire romance set on the same small Florida island as the rest of the Falling for Summer books. I loved Cat and Noah who each unknowingly had crushes on the other as kids. Cat needs money to help her uncle get out of debt and so agrees to work as Noah's assistant for the summer. With great mental health rep (anxiety, panic attacks and grief), unresolved bullying trauma and so many swoony moments, this was another win and great on audio too! I also really enjoyed all the cameos from other characters in the series! Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest revivew!
This book utterly charmed me! Cat loves her small town beach life working at her family's Bed and Breakfast, but money troubles lead her to accept local billionaire Noah's offer to work as his personal assistant. I love a dual-narration audiobook, and these narrators did a nice job, though the female narrator sounded rather robotic at the beginning. I highly recommend this book if you like small town romance with a sprinkling of family, personal growth, and billionaires-they're-just-like-us vibes. I can't wait to check out more from Kasey Stockton and the Falling for Summer series!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for gifting me with an ALC to review. All opinions are my own.
I had to listen to this as soon as I got it. I am so excited for this series. It is a cute romcom book with depth. There are many popular tropes found in the story. It was a quick listen. The narrators felt a little disconnected at the start but I was sucked into the story quick and didn’t notice after that.
