This book was intriguing from the start. I was sucked into her investigation of the death of her sister and secret societies. The ending was super abrupt and I immediately went in to the next one to find out what happens.
It's a mixture of dark academia and romance which is something new to me so I was super excited to read this. I am glad that I got an opportunity to read it and it was full of entertainment right from the beginning till the very end of the book.
The author has penned down an amazing plotline with a wonderful set of characters which made my reading experience more delightful.
In this steamy, suspense-filled romance, I was hooked not only by the heat but by the mystery surrounding Tessa's sister, Wren. The quest for vengeance and justice pulled me in, and when a secret society was introduced, it became irresistible. I'm a sucker for elite parties, debauchery, and secrets, so I was all in.
Then there's Saint, who I imagined as a British Michele Morrone—dark, brooding, and possessive. Of course, I loved him. The tender moments between the spice were swoon-worthy, but don't forget—this is a spicy read.
As I neared the end at 4 a.m., my brain started predicting the worst possible outcome, and then boom—Roxy did it. The cliffhanger left me with my jaw on the floor, immediately ordering the next book!
This book made me want more Romantic Mysteries because I had a lot of fun reading it! Set in an Oxford school, Cross My Heart follows Tessa as she attempts to solve the mystery behind what happened to her sister and get revenge for her. Enter Anthony St. Clair, Tessa's professor, the future Duke of Ashford, and Tessa's greatest temptation. This novel is a sinful delight and with that ending, I can't wait to read the next book!
I kept reading and was certain that my struggles were just me. But I got to half and decided that it's not just me. I didn't feel the connection between these two characters at all. Tessa is super focused on trying to avenge her sister but also occasionally finds herself wanting to bang Saint. They aren't really friends. But he consistently wants to sleep with her, too. And that's it. It just wasn't enough story or actual chemistry to keep my attention.
