Moving from Romania to Japan can be quite the cultural shock- especially for Hina, a Vampire that's only known her room her entire life! However Japan allows her to do the one thing she's always wanted: to live out her Otaku dreams! All she seems to care about is the show Vampire Cross, especially loving her favorite character Mao! After yearning for a friend to share her Otaku dream she runs into her new next door neighbor Kyuta- and he looks EXACTLY like Mao! Although his personality doesn't match, Hina is keen on befriending Kyuta and the two set off on their (Hina's) Otaku dreams!

Opposites attract (kinda) in this first hilarious volume of a story of a girl just trying to live her geeked out dreams. As someone that understands Hina's devotion to her faves, I found this hilarious and the characters easily likeable. Although it felt fast-paced at times, not one situation in the volume felt like it was dragged out. 4.5 rounded up to 5.

Nope! I need volume 2 now!! "Otaku Vampire's Love Bite" was so good. I legit smiled the whole time I was reading it. I actually reread parts multiple times. Need a paperback copy asap. This is the vampire manga I never knew I needed. lol The cliffhanger though.

Could not be more thrilled to have another work by Julietta Suzuki translated into english! Loved what I read in the first volume. In true to form fashion for Julietta Suzuki- it's cute, it's funny, it's a little spooky, and very sweet with a strong female lead. I cannot wait to see what happens next in volume 2 and will be recommending this series to anyone within earshot.

This was a fun twist on a semi popular premise! This is not the first "immortal being is actually a huge nerd" series I've read, but it has a couple of elements that help it stand out from the crowd. So far, it comes down to the characters and how they interact with one another. Hina's actually quite sociable when it's about something she likes. Her back and forth with her neighbor is cute, too. This is a good start to a cute series! I hope it gets to grow into its own!

This was a cute, yet strange read. So the premise is a vampire that's obsessed with a Japanese vampire show - so they move to Japan to become an otaku? I don't know if this one was for me, as much as I love vampire everything. The story was a little muddy in places and at times I had trouble following.

Hina, a vampire, moves to Japan to live as an otaku and submerse herself in her favourite anime - Vampire Cross. When she discovers that her neighbour looks exactly like her crush, she pulls him into her world - only to discover that there are more vampires in Japan than either of them expected.

This is super cute - Hina is just loveable and Kyuta is cute and grumpy. The art was great. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Published by Viz Media and available October 1, 2024, Vampire Otaku's Love Bite asks the age-old question "What if a vampire was an otaku (someone obsessed with something, generally Japanese media)?" Hina Arukado (Arukado is the Japanese spelling of Alucard), is a Romanian vampire obsessed with a vampire anime who moves to Japan to live her otaku life. Hijinks ensue. This first volume was a cute introduction to what should prove to be a fun series that will appeal to fans of either the weird and the wonderful (the vampires) or the self-referential humor and commentary on that other mysterious recluse (the otakus). The art is cute and expressive and the characters all look unique, so this should please shoujo fans.

This was such a good first volume! I adored the art style and the premise of an otaku vampire who becomes friends with her neighbor and shenanigans ensues. There is so much to unpack about the FMC's reentry into society that's spurred on by being an avid fan of a character to the shift in conventional storylines where the guy is the one all the vampires want to suck dry. I wasn't expecting anything and was happy with where volume 1 left off. Can't wait to read the next!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the DRC and the opportunity to read this.

5/5 Stars! I LOVED everything about this. I am all for cute, friendly vampires. Hina is wonderful. She is a child (literally) vampire who only drinks from blood bags and is obsessed with all things Vampire Cross. This kawaii otaku befriends grumpy Amanatsu. Hina winds up protecting Amanatsu from his vampire stalker and the two become “friends.” The dynamic between Hina and Amanatsu is charming and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope they get closer as the manga progresses and! I can’t wait to read more! The art in this manga was also super cute. Thank you VIZ Media, Julietta Suzuki, and NetGalley for providing an eARC for review!

This is fun and cute! I really enjoyed getting to know the characters, and also learning about the lore. I did think the main guy was a bit of a jerk, in some ways... but I can also see how that works for the plot. Either way, it will be something I'll add to my recommendations list, especially for teens looking for fun manga!

Although this is clearly getting its feet under it as far as lore and storytelling goes - and some of the contents of episode zero contradict later chapters - Julietta Suzuki is off to a good start with this story of an enthusiastic but naive vampire who leaves Romania for Japan in order to better live the otaku lifestyle. Suzuki remarks that she sees vampires and otaku as having similar lifestyles, and, well...I wish I could argue more with that statement!

This book honestly surprised me. I was drawn in by the title and book description thinking, "This looks like it will be ridiculously fun." I enjoyed the two main characters and the shenanigans they get up to with each other. There were also a few scenes throughout the book that I was NOT expecting!

Overall, I would recommend. It was a fun read.

Hina is a vampire who adores anime. One specific anime and one specific character, who just so happens to look exactly like her grumpy neighbor.

I do not have words to express how happy this manga made me. It was so cute. I love that the main character is a vampire who is not moping about being a vampire, but just enjoys her life as an otaku in Japan. One of the things that has gotten really tired for me is the vampire that is sad about being a vampire and spends half the story whining about being a dark soulless creature. This story is not like that. This vampire, while also being the sort that does not drink human blood, doesn’t spend her time mourning her fate as a vampire. She is such a cute and fun character! A real breath of fresh air! I also love how just generally carefree and go-with-the-flow she is. Nothing gets her down, which makes her meeting with her grumpy neighbor all the more fun.

I do love a good grumpy/sunshine story!

The art is very beautiful. I love the style. The main character Hina has such an adorable design and she pairs so well with Kyuta.

The story was also a lot of fun. I like that the set-up was fairly quick so that we are able to get right into the kind of slice-of-life story. I can’t wait to read more. It is honestly bittersweet that I got to read this so early because it means I have to wait longer to read more of it, but I am sure it is going to be well worth the wait. I loved this so, so much. I might read it again while I still have access to the digital ARC. Definitely going to be buying this one when it comes out so I can read it again and again. So excited to have a new, fun vampire story!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and VIZ Media for the digital ARC!
