This was quick and kind of cute, however, the dialogue was super elementary. Calling each other weirdo chicken and little poop in 12th grade is crazyyy. The storyline was moving too quickly with dialogue that was boring because of how surface level it was.
I haven’t read a graphic novel in quite some time, but this one spoke to me when I saw it on NetGalley as an ARC and read the description. The art style also intrigued me. Given the story itself, I’m a bit out of the age group it’s meant for, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.
This is a journey for the main character, Sara, and a friendly bet between her and her friend Patrick. She has to deal with some ups and down, and some definitely embarrassing scenes, but it was a good read and I enjoyed the characters and the story.
Thank you so much, NetGalley and WEBTOON Book Group for the ARC copy!

I enjoyed this surprisingly. The art was beautiful and the story seemed to progress pretty well, though I’m not sure if the arc had skipped a few pages cause I got lost and the pages jumped a few times.
Anyways, this was funny and cute but maybe “The Kiss Bet” is a name that shouldn’t have been chosen if it was only gonna be used once in the beginning and left completely altogether. Maybe in the next volumes it’ll circle around again but it was weird that it just started with that but then didn’t go back. I’d definitely want to see where this comic goes though.
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for the arc in exchange for a review. Hope to see more from this author
5 stars 🌟 🤩
The Kiss Bet is my absolute favorite webtoon!💋🩷 It's so nostalgic to reread The Kiss Bet from the beginning with the new art style. I can't wait for the physical copy! I'm so obsessed with Sara Lin and Oliver Yang!!! The piggy moments they share throughout the series (so freaking adorable!) 🐷🩷
I love witnessing the art style changing and improving. It's so beautiful 😍
I'm so glad the artist is recreating the beginning to match the rest of the comic. I really like that artist/author put the old version as thoughts/ moments with the new version. I love it! ❤️
When I started this series, I hoped that one day, it would be a physical copy in the future. It is finally happening in 2025! Shout out to Ingrid Ochoa! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks NetGAlley for the ARC!
I loved it! It is funny and all the characters are very relatable because high school can be tough especially when your a new student or are extremely shy. I can see this being a big hit, plus everything that has been published from WEBTOON Unscrolled has been incredible and super popular with my patrons.
Sar just turned 18 and it's her senior year and she has never been kissed. She’s got great friends, a cool dad (or so he thinks), and all she needs to do is pass Calculus and try not to worry about her first kiss. That was the plan until her best friend Patrick makes a bet for her to kiss a boy, which doesn't end well but may lead to love, heartbreak, or embarrassment…or maybe all three. Sara Lin wants it to be special even if her friends don't agree with her.
Along the way, as Sarah explores her relationship options with three different boys, she discovers that life isn't a fairytale and romance is inherently complex. It's messy and complicated, but boy, it sure can be fun.
super cute, fun, shojo read! despite having similar story lines to other books, this felt different. I adored the banter and the art was fantastic and funny. miss girl has three potential options for bfs and doesn't even know it! i'm looking forward to the next volume!
This feels like a whole new book, with all the art being updated to fit the newer art style Ingrid has out done herself. I’m reeled back in the same way I was when the story was being updated weekly on Webtoon. The colors are vibrant, the line art is crisp and the characters are just as charming as ever. This is such a cute and wholesome read for teens and young adults, I highly recommend this book and look forward to picking it up to add to my shelf in the near future!
This was a fun and quick manga! Highly recommend if you want something that’s guaranteed to make you laugh
i can’t wait to read the next instalment!
This book was a great read! The story had a great pace and the characters were well developed. It was very easy to get sucked into the story and in just a few sittings, I was done reading the book!
The Kiss Bet follows Sara Lin, a high school senior who has not had her first kiss. On a bet, she approaches Oliver in the subway and asks to kiss him. After denying her, they realize they are neighbors and Oliver is her math tutor. Sara begins crushing on Joe who turns out to be Oliver's older brother. Patrick, Sara's friend, keeps betting her that she won't telo Oliver who she is or Joe that she likes him. As Sara gets closer to Oliver, she finds herself connecting more with Oliver and distancing herself from Patrick.
The Kiss Bet was a cute high school story. Sara was a relatable character who keeps trying to avoid embarassing situations. She is too scared to do things that would make her happy, but her friend Patrick keeps pushing her. The story seems to be setting up for a large love triangle. The story was silly high school fun. I enjoyed the characters and it was a wonderful diversion.
This was SO cute! I love the main character, she's such a doofus, but in the way that I, too, am a doofus. The style ROCKS, and works nicely in the book format. I'm looking forward to adding a copy to my shelf when it releases, and more importantly I'm looking forward to continuing on with the series.
4.5 ★ rounded up
Oh my goodness! I saw the cover and I just knew I had to read it! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for this e-ARC! All opinions are mine! 4.5/5, rounded up to 5 stars!
So the story starts off with Sara Lin who just turned 18 and is trying to accomplish having her first kiss! It is so adorable, definitely a younger young adult/high school book. Although to me, the characters feel more in middle school/early high school. That being said, I really enjoy all of the characters. I think they are so quirky and fun and adorable! I especially love Sara Lin’s dad, he’s a hoot just like my dad!
I’m really interested to see how the story continues! I feel like this book is a hodgepodge of different romance tropes for highschoolers, such as grumpyxsunshine, cute boy next-door, and the best friend!
Honestly, only thing I did not like leaving on a cliffhanger, but I recently learned that the story has continued well beyond where it’s at right now, so I’m excited to keep reading and getting to know Sara Lin and her friends ! also, I just kind of wish that there were a bit more diversity in the characters, but hopefully as a story continues and we meet more people it will be more diverse!
I read this story on Webtoon a while ago and I absolutely loved it. Nothing has changed! It is a super cute and hilarious story about a high schooler named Sarah Lin who is hoping to get her first kiss after her friend Patrick challenged her to kiss a stranger. The stranger rejected her and soon after they find out he is her math tutor. The story kicks off from there! I loved every second of reading this and I can't wait to read more in the future! I also really enjoyed the art style and found it absolutely adorable.
Thank you NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the gifted copy!
I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved everything about this graphic novel-except that it's a series. Not a huge fan of waiting for the ending. I expect that this is one I will follow and wait for, though. Age-wise, it probably falls into the New Adult category, but I would absolutely let my middle schoolers read it. This is only the first volume, but it's looking like a sweet, clean romance. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Volume one started off strong. Our main characters are likeable and humorous though they act a little immature for their age. I'm interested to see where the story will go from here so therefore i will be continuing the series. This was a quick, fun read.
The Kiss Bet Volume One by Ingrid Ochoa is a heartwarming, charmingly illustrated graphic novel that perfectly captures the whirlwind of young love, friendship, and self-discovery. This delightful story follows Sara Lin, a high school senior on the brink of big life changes. Sara’s life takes a turn when a simple dare to kiss someone on the subway spirals into an unexpected adventure filled with romantic tension, hilarious misunderstandings, and heartfelt moments.
Ochoa’s art style is as captivating as her storytelling, with expressive characters and vibrant panels that bring every scene to life. The relationships are beautifully nuanced, from Sara’s budding romances to her close-knit friendships, making it impossible not to root for her as she navigates the complexities of love and growing up. It’s a perfect blend of humor, sweetness, and emotional depth, making you eager for the next volume.
A huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! If you’re a fan of feel-good romance with an authentic coming-of-age vibe, The Kiss Bet Volume One is a must-read. It left me smiling and eagerly awaiting more!
Thank you to Netgalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for this eARC in exchange for a honest review.
The Kiss Bet is a story about a girl trying to navigate the struggles of teen life while trying to find love in the process. This story is very cute, the art style is nice and the characters are fun for the most part.
The Kiss Bet gives tribute to many Shojo manga troupes and the genre of that. That saying, there is definitely a demographic for this comic that I unfortunately have aged out of. Not saying that if you're not a teen you won't enjoy this, I enjoyed it and I'm in my twenties, but a lot of the drama and thrills are more trivial to me now. As a adolescence I would have eaten this up and been foaming at the mouth for more, and while I'm interested in seeing where the story is going but there is a lot more "cringe" for me, if that makes sense. Things that happen with these characters gives me more second-hand embarrassment than I think I would have felt as a teen who was going through it like them.
Overall, I enjoyed this comic and will definitely be on the look out for more in the future. This felt very nostalgic to me and it was nice to read something where I had a feeling of what *could* happen but still be like "whats gonna happen??". If you don't enjoy Shojo themes and troupes that you can find in dramas and anime then there is a possibility that you won't enjoy this story. But this is a fun little read and I'd recommend if you're looking for something new to try out or even just looking for something that brings you bad to being a teen.
I loved this book! It was quirky and pulls you right in. I can't wait to continue reading! It has a lot of fun characters and the story is well developed. I would highly recommend.
I loved every second of this drama, it was cute and funny, I would love to continue to read more! It almost feels like a coming of age when people learn they have crushes on others, including friends. Saving your first kiss for someone special and having issues with math, it’s always math.
I read this story on WEBTOON about a year ago and I adored it. Publishing in book form is so exciting and getting to read it updated was so refreshing. A lot of times yo I don’t see the artist update their drawings, so I’m so happy Ingrid Ochoa did for this publication. She As for the story, I love the dynamic between Sara and Oliver. The slow burn is absolutely amazing and it keeps you on your toes. I am so excited to read the rest of the volumes!!
