The Kiss Bet is one of the best webcomics and it is so exciting for this to become a print book! Sara Lin and all of her friends feel so realistic and at times painfully relatable. Highly recommended to anyone who loves YA, romcoms, or K-dramas.

I think the art from the WEBTOON to this format lost some of the quality. Maybe the text could be slightly bigger just a smidge!! It could just be I’m blind but I wholeheartedly find this story so cute.

this is a romantic drama set in high school. What sets this story apart from other high school dramas I have read is that the characters in the story act like real high schooler, such as making dumb bets with each other and overthink situations. We do get introduced to a lot of characters in this first volume. As a result of this some of them like Joe and Vicky don't feel as flushed out as they could be, I am assume this will happen as more volumes come out. Overall It's a funny, sweet story about what it's like to navigate high school and all the drama that comes with it.

Thank you #Netgalley for an ARC of this work. I loved it so much and I need more ASAP.
The illustrations were fun and colorful. The facial expressions were so animated even without dialogue I was laughing out loud.
I loved the silly and lighthearted love stories, there's a little bit of everything. My favorite is of course the adorable banter between Sarah and Subway Boy 😂
I can't wait for this book to be properly published, I need the next volume asap please!

I remember reading this at 16 when it first came out on webtoon and I was just sooo obsessed. Now, a couple of years later -- despite the fact that I am no longer a teenager -- reading the first volume of The Kiss Bet had me feeling just as giddy as ever and I loved it. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys graphic novels and looking for a nice, light, and sweet-as-heck read. Definitly will make you feel nostalgic about the teenage years if you're past that time.

I’m a fan of coming-of-age and YA romance as a genre, so this really intrigued me. I did enjoy the artwork style, seeing as how it felt very sketched and hand drawn. It did read younger teen, to be honest, and felt very juvenile at times. The MC, Sara Lin, had a very Usagi/Sailor Moon vibe about her, which is interesting since this isn’t a Magical Girl story.
Overall, I enjoyed The Kiss Bet and we’ll see how the story continues.

I thought this was so cute. It’s so silly but I love the trope of hiding in plain sight of the love interest with one flimsy item to disguise yourself. Classic. I’m desperate to see where the story goes and am totally enamored with all the major characters already.

Hello Fellow Reader,
Based on a Webtoon, The Kiss Bet is a cute story about Sara Lin, an 18-year-old high school senior who has never been kissed. This leads her friend Patrick (Potential love interest #1) to make a bet to ask a random boy they see on the subway for a kiss. This ends badly, and this boy turns out to be Oliver (potential love interest #2), a junior at her school, her new calculus tutor, and the brother of her crush Joe (potential love interest #3).
Sara is a bit immature and forgetful, she can also seem very selfish which makes her somewhat unlikable. Oliver seems like he has a couple of issues regarding relationships, especially with his family, he's a grumpy goose who gets on Sara's bad side. I feel like I was more interested in the side characters like Sara's cool dad, her cousin, and a couple of others, so I hope eventually the comic fleshes them out more.
Overall, a fun high school comic.

First of all I would to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy.
I loved it, it was the perfect amount of fun with good plot and an amazing chance to develop things further in the next volumes.

Thank you to netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This story immediately jumps you into the main plot of the story where Sara Lin is dared to attempt to get her first kiss with a total stranger in the subway, which fails drastically by the way.
I wish the story eased you into the main plot a little more. I wanted to get to know the characters a bit in the beginning, but you don’t really get that. The beginning of the book was a little hard to get into, but once we got some momentum I was definitely more interested.
Sara lin is extremely awkward and a little annoying, but I feel like as the books progress she’ll be less insufferable. I was disappointed that there wasn’t really any romance in this one. It hints at some weird love square going on with all the boys in Sara lin’s life, but no one really had any chemistry with her. This does seem more like a coming of age story rather than a romance. I’m not mad at it; I just didn’t expect it. I will be continuing this series because I feel like I need to know more before I judge how I feel about it as a whole.

A cute fun young adult manga, it went by too quickly that I can’t wait to read the next volume. It’s been a while since I’ve read from this type of perspective how dramatic and monumental things can be. Had me reminiscing of my high school days lol, Sara was funny and a bit shy. I had a great time reading her antics, and the rest of her friends.
Thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group publishing, I received a ARC for an honest review !

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the ARC of The KISS Bet, Vol 1.
This was a cute and fun read. I enjoyed the quirkiness of this comic. It’s such a sweet, young adult romance. In volume one, we’re getting a feel for a lot of the characters so it will be interesting to see their development throughout the series. Although parts of the storyline was predictable (which is not necessarily a bad thing), I was actively engaged and enjoyed the overall comic.

This book is exactly what you get from the title. Our main character Sarah has never been kissed. She is a senior in high school and it is a very big deal to her and her friends. Her best guy friend makes a bet with her to kiss a random stranger. Sarah cannot say no to her friends’ bets which gets her in a lot of trouble. Most of this book is Sarah feeling down or anxious about herself: I can’t do this, I’m too scared. There’s two boys, one she likes , one she asked to kiss who turn out to be brothers who live across the hall. This is meant to be a fun high school, quick graphic novel series. And it is. It feels very 90s teen comedy. The settings a little off. Mainly the time and the place. I’m reading a galley so I didn’t have a cover or any back matter. Part of it feels like it takes place in the 90s when characters use words like fo sho, OK byeeee, and a few others. But it also doesn’t feel like it takes place in America. Not that it needs to, but I think those context clues would help in the story where it feels like there are holes. This is just book one, but this will progress exactly as the 90s team romcom did so. What do you choose to continue it or not depends on if you like that thing.

I was an original fan, starting from the Webtoon series and I absolutely fell in love with it. This book was really nostalgic and rereading it was a very nice experience to go through. I love the characters and the silliness and lightheartedness of this story. I hope to continue reading the future volumes and proceed with the reread. Rating - 4.5 ⭐️

The Kiss Bet Volume 1 is a delightful and cozy webtoon that brings a comforting sense of familiarity to fans of classic high school romance stories. It follows Sara Lin, an eighteen-year-old who, through one spontaneous bet, finds herself entangled in an awkward and charming mess of emotions, missteps, and self-discovery.
What stands out most about The Kiss Bet Volume 1 is its ability to balance a predictable yet wholesome storyline with engaging character dynamics. The premise of Sara navigating her first kiss and the chaos that ensues might not break new ground, but it doesn’t need to—its simplicity is part of its charm.
The bright and expressive illustrations truly elevate the story, as the characters’ emotions are vividly portrayed without requiring excess dialogue. Sara’s internal monologue and her interactions with Patrick, her best friend, bring humor and heart to the plot, while the introduction of multiple potential love interests (Joe, Oliver, and perhaps Patrick himself) keeps readers guessing.
Overall, The Kiss Bet Volume 1 is a fun and quick read that feels like revisiting a beloved trope with fresh eyes. It's cozy, heartfelt, and the perfect story for when you’re in the mood for something light yet entertaining. I can’t wait to continue reading and see how Sara’s story unfolds. Time to hop on the Webtoon app and wait for the release of the other volumes to collect!
Would recommend for: Fans of high school romance, lighthearted drama, and relatable protagonists :)

The Kiss Bet: Volume One by Ingrid Ochoa is a charming, lighthearted graphic novel perfect for fans of YA romance. The story follows Sara Lin, a high school senior who, after being challenged by her best friend Patrick, embarks on a quest to make her first kiss special. As she navigates a love triangle with three different boys, she learns that romance is far more complicated—and fun—than she expected.
The artwork is a standout feature, with its soft pastel colors and whimsical style that perfectly match the story's tone. Sara is a relatable and endearing protagonist, staying true to herself even through her most embarrassing moments. Patrick, her best friend, serves as the perfect annoyingly supportive counterpart, and their dynamic adds a lot of charm to the book.
While the plot is predictable and the characters sometimes feel younger than their senior-year status, The Kiss Bet is still an enjoyable read. The romance is light, sweet, and full of fun, making it a great choice for readers looking for a cute, easy read. I'm curious to see where Sara’s journey goes in future volumes.

Thank you to Wattpad Webtoon Book Group, Netgalley and Edelweiss for the opportunity to read and review this webtoon/graphic novel. I am truly glad that this webtoon is receiving the physical treatment that others have. The high school angst, the beautiful art, and the variety of characters presented. It reminded me of when I first read the series on Webtoon. My only issue that I personally had was formatting on my digital copies: they seemed to be choose your own adventure story instead of a straight plot and that is not how this story is formatted normally. Because of these points, I have to give this a 5 out of 5 stars

The Kiss Bet Volume One follows our main character Sara Lin who is a senior in high school and has never had her first kiss. Jokingly, her best friend, Patrick bets her $50 to kiss this random guy on the subway. Sara Lin takes this bet in stride and this is just the start of the rollercoaster that is her life.
The art in this graphic novel was so beautifully done. I loved the light pastels colors and the cute girly touch. The main character Sara Lin was always true to herself no matter how many times she embarrassed herself. Patrick was the perfectly annoying best friend. I had a lot of fun reading this book for the cute YA romance is was.
However, I do have to say that this did feel like the characters were much younger than seniors in high school. I felt the need to keep reminding myself that the characters were in high school and not in middle school. The plot was your average romance triangle and was super predictable.
Overall, this book was a light and fun read that had me smiling & giggling. The imagery was enchanting and whimsical. Although the plot was average & predictable; I would like to continue reading the series to see who Sara Lin ends up with and how she matures throughout the volumes.
Thank you NetGalley & Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was really excited for this book because I remember staying up and waiting for Webtoon updates years ago when these chapters were first coming out. I read it all in one sitting and I did enjoy looking back, but I realized that for a bunch of seniors and juniors in high school, they felt a lot like middle schoolers in their relationships and priorities. I do feel like the betting got really repetitive, and it felt like the only way that the plot was advancing. Also, more of a technical thing: the art is lovely, but it seems crunchy? Like a screenshot of a screenshot. The words and comic boxes are very sharp and clear but the drawings are not. Overall, it's a quick read that can entertain you, even if it's just through your wanting to fuss at Sara-Lin for her bad decisions.
Thank you NetGalley and Webtoon for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the e-ARC of The Kiss Bet Vol 1!

This is the first installment of Kiss Bet - a cute coming of age story focused around a senior in high school struggling to pass her math class and have her first kiss. If teenagers being dumb kids is something you find annoying in media, then this is not for you - but it’s cute for the right audience, and lets fans of the webtoons comic support the author.
