Oh my goodness! I saw the cover and I just knew I had to read it! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for this e-ARC! All opinions are mine! 4.5/5, rounded up to 5 stars!
So the story starts off with Sara Lin who just turned 18 and is trying to accomplish having her first kiss! It is so adorable, definitely a younger young adult/high school book. Although to me, the characters feel more in middle school/early high school. That being said, I really enjoy all of the characters. I think they are so quirky and fun and adorable! I especially love Sara Lin’s dad, he’s a hoot just like my dad!
I’m really interested to see how the story continues! I feel like this book is a hodgepodge of different romance tropes for highschoolers, such as grumpyxsunshine, cute boy next-door, and the best friend!
Honestly, only thing I did not like leaving on a cliffhanger, but I recently learned that the story has continued well beyond where it’s at right now, so I’m excited to keep reading and getting to know Sara Lin and her friends ! also, I just kind of wish that there were a bit more diversity in the characters, but hopefully as a story continues and we meet more people it will be more diverse!

I read this story on Webtoon a while ago and I absolutely loved it. Nothing has changed! It is a super cute and hilarious story about a high schooler named Sarah Lin who is hoping to get her first kiss after her friend Patrick challenged her to kiss a stranger. The stranger rejected her and soon after they find out he is her math tutor. The story kicks off from there! I loved every second of reading this and I can't wait to read more in the future! I also really enjoyed the art style and found it absolutely adorable.
Thank you NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the gifted copy!

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I loved everything about this graphic novel-except that it's a series. Not a huge fan of waiting for the ending. I expect that this is one I will follow and wait for, though. Age-wise, it probably falls into the New Adult category, but I would absolutely let my middle schoolers read it. This is only the first volume, but it's looking like a sweet, clean romance. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Volume one started off strong. Our main characters are likeable and humorous though they act a little immature for their age. I'm interested to see where the story will go from here so therefore i will be continuing the series. This was a quick, fun read.

The Kiss Bet Volume One by Ingrid Ochoa is a heartwarming, charmingly illustrated graphic novel that perfectly captures the whirlwind of young love, friendship, and self-discovery. This delightful story follows Sara Lin, a high school senior on the brink of big life changes. Sara’s life takes a turn when a simple dare to kiss someone on the subway spirals into an unexpected adventure filled with romantic tension, hilarious misunderstandings, and heartfelt moments.
Ochoa’s art style is as captivating as her storytelling, with expressive characters and vibrant panels that bring every scene to life. The relationships are beautifully nuanced, from Sara’s budding romances to her close-knit friendships, making it impossible not to root for her as she navigates the complexities of love and growing up. It’s a perfect blend of humor, sweetness, and emotional depth, making you eager for the next volume.
A huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! If you’re a fan of feel-good romance with an authentic coming-of-age vibe, The Kiss Bet Volume One is a must-read. It left me smiling and eagerly awaiting more!

The Kiss Bet is a story about a girl trying to navigate the struggles of teen life while trying to find love in the process. This story is very cute, the art style is nice and the characters are fun for the most part.
The Kiss Bet gives tribute to many Shojo manga troupes and the genre of that. That saying, there is definitely a demographic for this comic that I unfortunately have aged out of. Not saying that if you're not a teen you won't enjoy this, I enjoyed it and I'm in my twenties, but a lot of the drama and thrills are more trivial to me now. As a adolescence I would have eaten this up and been foaming at the mouth for more, and while I'm interested in seeing where the story is going but there is a lot more "cringe" for me, if that makes sense. Things that happen with these characters gives me more second-hand embarrassment than I think I would have felt as a teen who was going through it like them.
Overall, I enjoyed this comic and will definitely be on the look out for more in the future. This felt very nostalgic to me and it was nice to read something where I had a feeling of what *could* happen but still be like "whats gonna happen??". If you don't enjoy Shojo themes and troupes that you can find in dramas and anime then there is a possibility that you won't enjoy this story. But this is a fun little read and I'd recommend if you're looking for something new to try out or even just looking for something that brings you bad to being a teen.

I loved this book! It was quirky and pulls you right in. I can't wait to continue reading! It has a lot of fun characters and the story is well developed. I would highly recommend.

I loved every second of this drama, it was cute and funny, I would love to continue to read more! It almost feels like a coming of age when people learn they have crushes on others, including friends. Saving your first kiss for someone special and having issues with math, it’s always math.

I read this story on WEBTOON about a year ago and I adored it. Publishing in book form is so exciting and getting to read it updated was so refreshing. A lot of times yo I don’t see the artist update their drawings, so I’m so happy Ingrid Ochoa did for this publication. She As for the story, I love the dynamic between Sara and Oliver. The slow burn is absolutely amazing and it keeps you on your toes. I am so excited to read the rest of the volumes!!

3 stars!
Anything WEBTOON related, I will read. ALWAYS!
The Kiss Bet is a quirky story about Sarah Lin, a girl who hopes to finally get her first kiss and gets into a bet with her friend to ask a random stranger to be her first, only to be rejected. To make things more awkward, they meet again, with him as her math tutor.
It was nothing outside the norm of a slice of life story about high school kids, but while I expected that love triangle to happen, I'm still excited to see where this goes from here. Bonus points for the author's artistic design and wonderful drawings!
Fans of Ouran Host Club and Masamune-kun's Revenge, this is for you!
Thank you NetGalley and Ingrid Ochoa for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have loved reading this on WEBTOON for the last year or so and am stoked that it’s being published into graphic novels!! The Kiss Bet Vol. 1 is a great introduction to Sara Lin, Oliver, and the ensemble of side characters in this cute comic. This volume lays the groundwork for future storylines and chapters to come.
The art of this comic is adorable and it’s what initially drew me to reading it in WEBTOON over a year ago. I love the bright colors, fun illustrations and doodles throughout it, too!
The Kiss Bet is literally the slowest slow burn of all time, and it is very YA, especially in the beginning stages, which is tough for me to enjoy at times. Especially considering that Sara Lin is a senior in high school, it reads much younger than that. Some of the side characters can be immature, but the others are hilarious and add so much fun to the story.
Although the slow burn is frustrating and very slow, later seasons get pretty fun and I have enjoyed those much more. I’m excited for those volumes to come!
Thank you NetGalley, WEBTOON, and the author, Ingrid Ochoa, for the ARC of this comic!!🩷🩷

A fun start to a story about a high schooler named Sarah Lin who is hoping to get her first kiss. The art was great and the author did a nice job introducing all the characters and making them likeable and interesting. This was a like but not a love, at least so far, but I am curious to see where it goes.

This was a really cute graphic book...it was just that even though the illustrations were good, I felt as if they were cut short. The ideas and story relayed was good and I enjoyed. I really love the cover of this book, I am redheaded and a book with a red headed character I will by just for the cover. Thanks for letting me view this book. It was good and for a younger audience.

ARC was given by NetGalley & WEBTOON Unscrolled.
This isn't my first time reading this graphic novel. The first time I read it was on Webtoons and really enjoyed it! I think this series really appeal to those who love reading series that have love triangles or multiple love interests and enjoy seeing the chaos of first loves while navigating high school setting. However, I don't think this will be for every readers. There were a few times where I got second-hand embarrassment or found myself frustrated with the heroine's choices and had to keep reminding myself that this story involves high schoolers. Overall, it was a quick, funny, and charming read! I definitely recommend giving it a try if you're looking for something fast with bits of romance and comedy sprinkled throughout.
All thoughts, feelings, experiences, and opinions are honest and my own.

Adorable high school romantic comedy manga. Sara Lin is 18 and has never been kissed. She has her eyes and heart set on Joe, a kind and handsome new student. Unfortunately Joe's brother is Oliver, or "subway boy", a super serious killjoy who is Sara Lin's tutor annnnd who she tried to kiss on the subway. The antics in this book are hilarious and the art is fantastic. I'll definitely read the next volume!

Thank you to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
The Kiss Bet Volume One is a fun, high-energy comic filled with typical high school antics, and I can't wait to see where it goes next. The story kicks off with Patrick challenging Sara Lin to kiss a stranger (who turns out to be her new math tutor) on the subway, leading to more hilarious moments like fortune-telling in the school bathroom. The comic's chibi-style art adds to the charm, keeping things lighthearted even in tense moments.
The story sets up several intriguing plotlines, and I'm excited to see if a love triangle forms and how potential love rivals might shake up friendships. Subwayboy (Oliver) is a mysterious, grumpy character, and it'll be interesting to see how he copes with Sara Lin's energetic and chaotic personality.
If you love the shojo anime/manga this would be right up your alley.

THE KISS BET volume one is high energy high school shenanigans and I can't wait to read more.
From the first scene of Patrick daring Sara Lin to kiss a stranger (turned math tutor) on the subway platform, to fortune telling in the school's bathroom - this comic had me laughing so hard. This story had to be told as a comic. The characters in tiny chibi style keep things cute even when they are angry.
There are plenty of interesting story lines started too. I'm eager to see if a love triangle develops and how love rivals will disrupt friendships. And Subwayboy / Oliver is so mysterious and grumpy. How will he handle prolonged exposure to Sara Lin's frazzled peppy life?
I'm definitely going to keep reading!
I think this is the perfect read for fans of Ouran High School Host Club's crazy energy. Or if you enjoyed Jenny Han's Lara Jean book series, this has that same panicked yet determined main character vibes.
Thank you NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was a cute read! It follows a girl who makes a bet with her best friend to kiss a random boy at the subway, only to find out he’s her neighbor and new tutor. Awkward. There’s also a love triangle (possibly square?) that I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I will be definitely continuing the series when it comes out!

I liked the art style a lot. The characters were all unique enough to not get anyone confused.
The plot was pretty easy to predict and exactly what you would expect it to be. I would say this would be a good graphic novel for young teens, as even though they are 18 the characters feel very juvenile.
You can tell this was originally a webcomic published in parts by some of the scene transitions, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Ultimately well this wasn’t the most unique or exciting graphic novel, it was not bad either. I would definitely consider reading the next volume.

4-4.5
closer to 4.5
omg i loved this so much i want the second volume asap!!
i love all the characters i love the banter between sara lin & oliver. i love how happy go lucky joe is & i love sara’s friendship trio with patrick & vicky.
sara is such a fun main character with such a big personality. i never really knew what would happen next with her. i thought it was so funny how she went from not being able to communicate properly with oliver to straight up just being herself. it was great.
also the art is incredible i love it so much.
i really can’t wait for the next volume.
