As a special education
nursery teacher, this is a very enjoyable and calming story about school activities. School is unknown territory for my pupils. The book shows school in a positive light, especially the bright, sunny illustrations.

Summer Break is Here! captures the essence of childhood excitement as school ends and summer begins. With its cute illustrations and playful rhymes, the book portrays a typical school day filled with moments of friendship and learning. As a parent, I enjoyed reading this book with my child because it perfectly captures the anticipation and joy of summer break. It's a delightful reminder of those carefree days and a wonderful read-aloud for kids ages 4-8.

This was a nice summer book, a great way to start summer with the little ones and to get them excited for whatever summer has to offer.

I especially enjoyed the art style and the way it flows from page to page.

It's a cute book.

So true, my young friend, so true. We hear you. Told by a young child in rhyming prose and amazingly depicted scenes, we see why and how our dear children deserve a break. Why everyone deserves a break, as a matter of fact. Relatable. cute and inspiring. The closeups were very well done. The expressions of the characters are spot on.

Elizabeth Lareau’s Summer Break is Here will make a great addition to any early elementary classroom library. The rhyming prose will capture every reader’s attention and Harper’s recap of her school year - the ups and downs- will resonate with students everywhere. The wonderful illustrations are an added bonus!

As a teacher who loves her job (approximately 99.9% of the time), this book is a cute way to end the school year. After months of working together, everyone needs a much deserved break and what a way to send them off. The illustrations are engaging and the story a helpful reminder of all the positive things that happen throughout the year. A pleasant way to send them off and have them looking forward to coming back,

This is a very cute story of Harper who cant wait for summer break from school. Though she loves school and her friends she also likes summer break and swimming in the pool. I think every child cant wait for summer break and I still remember watching the days till school was out for summer. The illustrations are very colorful and cute. This would be a great book for summer reading.

Cute and colorful read. The rhyming wasn't rhyming but other than that everyone remembers their last day of school before summer break. Definitely a easy read for kids.

Not sure what to make of this book. On one hand it was beautifully illustrated and on the other, the tempo and rhymes weren’t the best. The story follows a young student realizing that school is finished and all the fun things they did throughout the year.

Pros
+Lovely illustrations
+Novel story premise, all the things you did at school

Cons
-I really struggled with the rhyming and tempo of this story so my reading of it was stuttered and confused. The idea of writing it as a poem was nice, the execution left something to be desired, my eye is still twitching over some of the ‘rhymes’

Summary
Cute book to celebrate the end of school and beginning of summer, perfect for a teacher to read out at the end of class if they can figure out the rhythm.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of Summer Break is Here, in exchange for an honest review.

Everyone who actually attended a public/private school setting remembers the longing of that very last day of school. How we couldn’t wait to get out of the four walls of learning- and be free to have some fun. This book follows a young child through her day of school, and all the things she does that day. Full of rhymes and pretty illustrations, it highlights the “Good” things about school and how everyone anticipates the last day. While it was a cute book, as a homeschooler I am not the target audience- but I think it would be a fun book for a child who is in a school and looks forward to the summer.

Summer break/vacation was the most happening time except Rainy days off during school times. We got summer homework, projects, and for holidays we went to the house of our maternal Grandparents & uncles, aunts.

Harper (he/she not clear as this is unisex name) is one such child who was sad watching his calendar that it was the last day to school year. He remembered or start that day (as this was not pretty clear in book) as explained in this book about his daily chores to and for the school. From readiness to coming back home, author pictured most of the activities in here with rhyming all through.

That excitement to do everything in that single day and meeting friends last time before meeting them next after vacations was the most important task of the day for all, and here for Harper too. This pictorial rhyme resonate the life we all lived too at sometime in out childhood. This is a very anticipating work for pre-middle-grade students who gonna read this. Such relatable experiences of waiting for recess and plan for time between after-school bell and reaching home finally, all those moments came back to mind eventually while reading this.

Illustrations were so vibrant and flying with my memories and rhyme here. This is adorable. But I chose to request Milan not to leave gap in teeth of protagonist.. LOL.

For the most part, I liked this book! The drawings were super colorful, which was perfect for the tone of this book. I also thought that all of the people were drawn in a really good style, and the whole book had a playful mood. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars and not 5 was because I thought the rhyming was a little weird. The rhymes weren't a stretch, which was good, but I think that the flow of the rhyming was just not a good fit for a book like this. I felt like this book, since it is about remembering another school year gone by, should have been allowed to move a bit slower, for readers to really take in everything, as one would when they're remembering their own school year. Additionally, I feel like some of the rhymes were just not fun (for lack of a better word) and didn't make me go "wow!" or "that was different", they were just kind of there.
Other than a weird choice to make this book rhyme, I think that kids will enjoy this book because of the premise and the drawings, anytime of the year.
