This was a super fun book,
Even though Mr. Plot was reluctant,
He still made it to the top, to look
And did only rant
just a little at first.
Then he liked to hike
He didn't faint of hunger or thirst:
the end green eggs and ham, he did like.

I really enjoyed the illustrations and the banter between Sam-I-Am and Mr. Plot. Kids can relate to the emotions of Mr. Plot as he is pulled out of his house for a hike when all he wants to do is play games.

The art is really cute. Love the story it made for a really fun graphic novel. I think my kids would like this.

Dr. Seuss is such a classic, and this story is a lovely follow-up/spin-off of the previous story of Green Eggs and Ham. I’m guessing it will be as loved and as popular as the original one is.
Also, the bold, bright (and weird!) illustrations are perfect for this fun (and weird) little story!

A cute follow up to the beloved classic story. Sam drags his friend on a hike with the promise of Green Eggs and Ham at the end. They go through lots of challenges to get to the end!

This is an interesting spin on a classic kids story, this is based after the original Green Eggs and Ham. Don't go into this story thinking it will be similar to the original. It's more like the cartoon series.

This is a graphic novel based on Dr Seuss Green Eggs and Ham, cute enough but I don't love the illustrations, they felt a little chaotic. It has chapter's as these characters take a hike and have an adventure.

This was a fun spin on the original Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. The illustrations are fun and engaging. I really enjoyed the use of bright colors to draw attention to the story. My son thought the book was funny and stayed engaged throughout. If you like Dr. Seuss and graphic novels, I definitely recommend checking out this book!

Graphic novel mixed with full color illustration 👌🏾! This is brilliant, I feel like this full color illustration with graphic novels | Manga vibes is great for children. This will definitely keep their attention and also draw them in.

Green Eggs and Ham Take a Hike was a fun graphic novel for the kiddos. I thought the illustrations were adorable and upheld the spirit of the original book. The plot was predictable, but fun and engaging. My only complaint was the dialogue. They switched in and out of rhyming, and it just did not have the Seussian charm that I was expecting. That being said, it was still a very cute book and would be great for the kiddo that just graduated from the original story.

I thought this "Green Eggs and Ham" quest story would be cute and fun, and it was. It follows the two main characters from Seuss' original story as they take their green eggs and ham on a nice hike to enjoy in nature. Of course Walter grumbles about everything.

This graphic novel doesn't really follow the scholarship of the original type of rhyme scheme. Seuss if brilliant, as he uses sight words and the rhyme helps children remember those words too. This is more story based, though it does attempt rhymes at times...

Still really great for perhaps a first grade audience.

I typically enjoy a quick read through a beginning reader graphic novel, but this one didn't hit for me. There was something inconsistent about the writing that bothered me--we started with rhyming, and it's clear the main character is named Mr. Plot for rhyming purposes--but then it was abandoned fairly quickly. The Green Eggs and Ham Netflix show was such a hit with my students, so I'd expect they'd be interested in this book, but then confused that they didn't stick with Guy-Am-I as the name. Also, the original Green Eggs and Ham is a huge hit with developing readers, but the vocabulary level of this book does not match the original. I'm not asking for it to only use 50 words, but more decodable words would have been nice.

The story is cute and I liked the illustrations, but I don't think I will be purchasing this for my library.

Of course we all well know Dr. Seuss’s iconic, 50 word reader and the dynamic duo in Green Eggs and Ham. Well they are back! This time Sam-I-Am is going to show his grumpy pal, Walter Plot, the world beyond green eggs and ham in this engaging graphic novel.

You see grumpy Walter is missing out on the wonders of this great big world because all he wants to do is beat his own video game scores. His kind friend, Sam-I-Am is determined to make sure his buddy doesn't miss a thing! Isn’t that what best friends do?

Walter doesn't get the big deal. Sure it might be nice to have a green eggs and ham picnic on a hike, but doesn't Sam-I-Am know about all of the bugs that bite, and the flowers that make you sneeze or the rivers that block your way with water that is wet?! You see Grumpy, did I say that before, Walter is not a fan of the outdoors, in no way shape or form; And he’s not going to let Sam-I-Am change his mind. Too bad for Walter, Sam-I-Am is always up for a challenge! Or maybe too good for Walter. Yes let’s go positive.

James Kochalka, has created a brand-new, and hopefully a hit, with familiar illustrations and easy-to-follow paneled storytelling. Although not in the same manner of the original 50 word reader, this graphic novel is an excellent bridge for kids transitioning to chapter books.

The storyline of friendship is heartwarming and the action and expressions make the book oh so entertaining. Some of the wry humor may be lost on the young, but it gave me a good laugh.

I hope to see James Kochalka honor Dr. Seuss and remake more of his iconic books into graphic novels,

I really liked Sam-I-Am in this remake.

Technically, it’s Sam-I-Am and his reluctant pal, the crotchety Walter Plot, go hiking, but that’s the least of the issues with the Dr. Seuss-branded money grab of a book. I do not blame author James Kolchalka; I’m pretty sure Random House suits saw the opportunity to create an entire series with Sam-I-Am and poor Walter and approached him. Regardless, I believe that, with luck, that idea will die on the vine.

To begin with, who is the audience for this graphic novel? The usual Dr. Seuss crowd is too young to tackle a nearly 100-page chapter book. Those old enough to read this will be repulsed by something they’ll see as babyish. The only market I see for this incredibly predictable book is for childless aunts and uncles grabbing last-minute gifts for their nieces and nephews. And probably not many of them.
