What a great series by Jeffery Brown! A great comic to allow your child to read and not have to worry of the content is great for children. Illustrations are great as well.
Brown's single frame comics were brilliant.
Trying to stretch out the one-liners into an engaging plot has proven impossible (as far as I'm concerned.)
First of all... black and white? I can understand in the thirties when it cost publishers more to print in color and it was important to keep kids books cheap.
But this is 2021! Hire a color artist for a couple hundred -- you could probably find some aspiring graphic designer to do it for free.
It makes SUCH a difference for my ADHD brain to have color and shading.
Basically this felt like the most insipid, unoriginal middle-school graphic novel that happens to be set in a Starwars setting. And there were large paragraphs of text in pamphlets and posters. It might not be so bad if they weren't as dry as space dust.
Stick to the far-side style. Even my kids (who love star wars and graphic novels said these are "okay")
I got this digital copy free from netgalley.
