I adore well written Amish romance novels, so was excited to be granted an ARC for this book.
The plot was solid enough, and the characters likeable enough, to keep the reader engaged. I loved that the author wove medical conditions, flowers, animal behaviour, and natural medicines into the plot.
I’m addicted to ‘friends to more’ romances, so enjoyed this a lot.
I received an ARC from NetGalley, and all opinions are my own.
I'm definitely giving this one 5 stars!
Wow! I enjoyed every minute of it and I hated to see it end. This author is such a wonderful storyteller.
I could feel Serenity's friends emotions coming through the pages. Especially Abby's. I think it left her feeling out of sorts.
The many secrets are why I kept turning pages of this wonderful book. The Romance as well lol. Just the right amount of course.
I liked the way Serentity handled things without being mean about them. Incredible the very thing I really admired about her and her patience too.
My favorite was the love and support Serenity's family gave her and the strong faith each family member had and the hope that was offered too.
I loved the gentle reminder that Gott is always on our side no matter what. We need only to ask. He is ever faithful and just. Without Him, I don't know where I'd be. Thank God for such a loving Father in Hevean and for a wonderful author too.
I highly recommend! 5 stars
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
This was a great Amish story. It had a bit of everything! It had mystery, secrets and of course love. I really enjoyed how it was all intertwined throughout the story. A fantastic read!
Serenity’s Secret is a fantastic book by Lisa Jones Baker. This book is a tad different than her previous book as it has a bit of mystery to it. Mystery in the sense there is a secret the main character has that isn’t revealed right away.
This story is very inspiring and encouraging. Hope, love and a dependance on God is strong in this story and I loved it! It really spoke to me and gave me encouragement with someone I was going through in my personal life. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an advanced copy of this book but the opinions are my own.
This was a new-to-me author and I thoroughly enjoyed not just her characters, but the storylines as well. I have truly loved each and every one of the books in this series. They are whimsical and entertaining yet share a deeper theme woven throughout that make you think long after the book is closed.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and did not have to write a review. All opinions are solely mine.
This is book 6 of the Heart of the Amish series.
The characters of this book are very well developed and makes it seem like you have always been friends with them. They have a very special friendship shown by their love and caring for each other. The book is filled with drama, friendship, love, devotion, secrets and secrets revealed as the drama unveils.
Serenity and her neighbor, Stephen, have such a strong friendship, yet she does not feel she can reveal her secrets to him or anyone else. Will she ever get to the point of feeling she can reveal her secret and how will it be received for her life in the future.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Amish books. Thank you to Barbour and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
Serenity Miller has suffered her share of setbacks in her young life. Stricken with a life threatening illness she recovered after many years of being bed ridden. Because of this condition Serenity keeps a secret from those she loves. When handsome Stephen Lantz moves into his late Aunt Margaret’s home, next door to Serenity , he becomes smitten with her. She is everything he has ever wanted for a future wife. Stephen has tried to tell Serenity his feelings for her but she seems to back away from that conversation with him. Is it because she sees Stephan as a friend only and doesn’t want to go to the next level in their relationship?
This book has a mystery hidden in the pages as the story unfolds. Readers must wait till near the books ending to,see the mystery solved and justice served. I thought the book was entertaining, unpredictable, inspirational and at times a page turner. I liked the characters who added so much to the story. I look forward to reading more books by this Author.
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Romance , Woman’s Fiction and Christian Fiction. This book is part of The Heart of the Amish Series but I was able to read it as a stand alone. It is scheduled to be released on 10/1/24.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of Serenity’s Secret. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own.
Serenity's Secret is an inspirational story written by Lisa Jones Baker. The characters that the author has chosen and developed to tell this story are so realistic and likeable. There are so many small storylines included in this story which definitely keeps the readers interest to try to figure out what Serenity's Secret could be. I also learned a lot about the true meaning behind several different flowers so that was an added bonus. This story is filled with hope, love, friendship, and the love of God. I also remember a running line throughout the story which was out of bad something good will happen you just have to look for it.
I was given a complimentary advanced readers copy of this book. I was not expected to give a favorable review. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
I loved the characters and story of this book. It is amazing the spunk of Serenity and How caring that Stephen is. When a secret is shared it changes the outlook on there relationship. Faith and sacrifice makes this story one that you will love too. I can't wait till the next book comes out.
I really loved this book! The story was very well written and I absolutely loved the main character and their romance was so cute!
I just absolutely love these Heart of the Amish books and this one was no exception. I find them fascinating and heartwarming all at the same time. This one was especially close to my heart as her secret relates to me as well. You feel for Serenity so very much. She's the epitome of kindness, patience, and strength.
After all the challenges that she has already went through in her life and then to have what happened to her in the barn happen? That would have broken a lot of other people. Not Serenity though. She chooses to use it to fuel her faith in God and to keep having hope. I admire her a lot for that. Not everyone would be able to do that.
I especially loved her friends. They clearly love and adore each other. It's something that I myself wish for and do not yet have. You can feel how they care for one another. I especially loved her parents and Steven as well.
He is so protective of her, and I love that in a man. Yes, things happen and maybe he didn't handle things right at first, but he is only human like the rest of us. I respect him for going out of his road to try and fix things.
Overall, just another wonderful addition to this book series. I hope the stories keep coming.
Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers, and to Lisa Jones Baker for the ability to read and review this book. All opinions are my own and are completely honest.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this great book.
The characters Trini, Abby, and Serenity are so beautifully done. I loved the realistic way they are portrayed. Their strengths and weaknesses are both described. To many Amish novels gloss over everything and the characters are just so.perfect they are not believable.
Serenity and Stephen's love story is beautiful and I enjoyed the read from start to finish.
I and am hoping to get to read Arbb's story soon.
Highly recommend.
Serenity's life is full, she is the proud owner of The Pink Petal, she owns a wonderful horse appropriately named Angel, and she has two loving parents and best friends that are her constant support. Outside of all she has to be thankful for in her life, there is her best friend Stephen. They both have always had strong feelings for each other. But when a criminal attacks Serenity in her barn Stephen feels even more compelled than ever to finally take the next step with Serenity. But they have never shared their feelings, and she has determined she will never marry. She loves him, but the closer he gets the more she pulls away, she has a secret that she knows would only make a future for them impossible.
For me, the story at moments was a bit of a slow burn, and there was wordiness that for me was too much at times causing me to lose interest. But I think that may just be a personal preference on my part, because I do believe the author was just trying to infuse more info into the story. And you'll find you will gain a lot of real insights into medical conditions, flowers, animal behavior, natural medicines, etc with this story. But Serenity and Stephen's love story kept me turning the pages to see how they would end up!
This story is wonderful... what I did not expect was all the mystery and suspense that is written into this story. Certainly there is also a wonderful helping of faith-filled moments. And of course, there is romance.

What a beautiful story. In this book, you will experience romance, mystery, suspense, secrets, friendship, family, heartbreak, joy, and the peaceful countryside of Arthus, Illinois. The sincerity and earnestness of Lisa Jones Baker's characters always touches my heart. I especially enjoy their deep relationship with the Lord and the wisdom they draw from His word. Also entertaining in this book was learning about different plants and flowers. Serenity's Secret is a well-written and deeply moving story.
I received an advance reading copy from Barbour Publishing through Net Galley. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required to give a positive review.
(Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. I have posted reviews on Goodreads, Christian Books and B&N. I will post on Amazon upon publication. I wish this lovely story much success!)
I really enjoyed reading this book! Amish fiction is my favorite genre, and Lisa Jones Baker is becoming a favorite author! There's intrigue, a mystery, and a friend's to lovers romance! The mystery really kept me guessing until the end.
There are familiar characters from the previous books. The characters are well developed and easy to like! I enjoy reading about the friendship of Trini, Abby, and Serenity. Their support and love for each other is comforting. My favorite character, though, has to be Angel the horse! His personality is epic, and his love for Serenity is apparent to everyone!
I hope a story for Abby is coming soon! I certainly am looking forward to reading more books by this author!
I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Loved reading the inspirational and captivating story. When Serenity is attacked and left tied up, Stephen comes to her rescue. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story by the amazing author, Lisa Jones Baker.
I enjoyed this book by Lisa Jones Baker. I was surprised to learn that Serenity had more than one secret-she had two and it was definitely not what I thought they would be. A suspenseful Amish love story, it has you guessing as to why this sweet Amish girl was attacked in her own barn when she didn’t have any enemies. Would she be able to identify her attackers or would she and the town she lived in constantly be in fear? The storyline is a constant reminder of faith and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.

Serenity’s Secret by
Lisa Jones Baker.
Serenity’s Secret by Lisa Jones Baker is book six on the Heart of the Amish series. It is the wonderful tale of Serenity and Stephen’s love. They both have feelings for each other but Serenity has a secret and Stephen has a deep feeling of his unworthiness of Serenity.
These two characters are so well developed by Ms. Baker that you begin to think of them as your close family friends.
You will love the plot as it moves seamlessly from page to page. The way this author tells the story, you are unaware of Serenity’s secret until the end of the story and you are kept following the storyline from one page to the next. A real page turner.
It is interesting to watch the characters develop throughout the book. They grow and they develop as the learn God’s will for their lives.
I was given an ARC by the publisher, Barbour Press and I was not required to give a positive review.
This book deserves 5-stars, and will be released October. 1, 2024. You should pre-order today.
Serenity was attacked by 2 men in her barn, they blindfolded her and tied her up on the floor.
Before sunrise, her neighbor Steven Lantz came by to check on her, he saw her buggy in the shed so he knocked on her door and ran to the barn, he heard her horse Angel whinnying and he searched the barn until he found her by the hay bales.
He untied her and cut away her knots, he massaged her feet and ankles until her circulation returned, she finally told him that two men had done this but had not abused her. They contacted the police but the two men who were accused of the crime did not do it.
Serenity and her town lived in fear of another incident and Serenity and Steven grew closer.
