My Funny Demon Valentine is a devilishly delightful paranormal romance that blends humor, spice, and heart. The storyline focuses on two characters, a demon prince, Ash, who is rebellious and likes to do things differently than other demons. He has a passion for jazz and Eva. Eva can't deny Ash's devilish allure. She's resourceful and not afraid to confront the chaos that comes crashing into her life since she met Ash. Her skeptical reactions to the supernatural make her an easy character to root for, even after Ash tries to help her realize that she is a witch. Together, Ash and Eva have sizzling chemistry, and their banter is as entertaining and sometimes humorous as their more intimate moments are fiery.

The supporting characters, including Ash's rogue demon brothers, add humor and camaraderie to the story. They treat Ash like a brother by consistently razzing, which makes you giggle. The plot is fast-paced, with a great mix of action, romance, and shocking revelations to keep the reader engaged until the last page.

A deeper dive into the curse's intricacies and the consequences of Ash's rebellion could be expanded to added more tension. Considering Eva is a skeptic, she quickly accepted certain supernatural elements that felt slightly convenient. There is no slow burn here. The relationship is instant and spicy. It is a sinfully entertaining, steamy paranormal romance that doesn't take itself too seriously. It is perfect for readers who love spicy urban fantasies with a humorous edge.

I received an ARC ebook for my honest review. Thank you, NetGalley and Kensington Publishing.

This was such a fun read. I really liked Eva and Ash, and the other brothers were a ton of fun. I loved the curse and how it affected Ash, and how the story evolved and the curse resolved itself.

There are some great characters here and I’m really looking forward to reading more about them all.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a absolutely fantastic. I did not expect the book to turn out the way I thought it would but I was so pleasantly surprised! 4 demons walk into a bar....and then the book turned into the most steamy yet sweet story for Ash and Eva. Couldn't put this down and was cheering them on the whole way. Now to find out what happens to Mist.

Thanks for the ARC.

Honestly, this book surprised me. At first I thought it would be another corny demon romance book but this one has action, funny banter, steamy spicy spice (piano scene was piping hot) and it was overall entertaining.

Ash is a demon prince who escapes hell with his three “brothers”, and he is cursed where he can feel, smell, and he’s not attractive to any women. He looks bland and boring to every women he comes across. All but one— Eva, who surpringly finds him to be the hottest man she’s ever seen. They hit it off well.

My favorite part of this book was how the banter between the brothers flowed seamlessly and it was HILARIOUS. I found myself smiling and laughing more times than not.

I highly recommend this book especially if you want action, romance, hilarious banter, and a good time.

This read was hilarious, spicy and weirdly heartwarming. Who knew I'd come to adore 4 demons from Hell? This is a paranormal romance, the first in the Hell Bent series.

Asmodeus (Ash) Is a Duke of Hell and a lust demon, but he is cursed so that no woman can see how absolutely gorgeous he is, instead whenever potential sexual partners look at him all they see is the equivalent of a boring, cardboard box. Until Eva.
The first woman who can truly see his real, stunning human face in thousands of years.
You can imagine how Ash justifiably reacts to this. This book is dripping with insta-lust but there is also a bit of mystery regarding why Eva is the only one who can see him as well as humour and adventure and Ash's other 3 other gorgeous demon brothers who have all escaped from hell, and have no desire to go back.

This book is well-written, easy to read, and I enjoyed it so much. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. The new covers are also stunning!!

I've been getting more into paranormal romances lately and have been particularly drawn to those with demons. My Funny Demon Valentine is the first I've read with a demon, and though it went in some completely unexpected directions, I really enjoyed it.

Rather than just a romance, this one has elements that reminded me of horror comedy: These four demons have escaped from Hell, they're being tracked by gargoyles and the Hunter, and they need special blood to evade their captors. Meanwhile, one of the group, Asmodeus, has spent the last 3,000 years cursed to have suppressed senses and be practically invisible to others. He loves music, though, and is drawn to a musician he's just met, Eva. What's more, she can actually see him.

This novel goes from a cute and sexy paranormal romance to a book with our characters on the run and facing shocking revelations. It's campy, spicy, and a ton of fun to read. This is also the first in a series - already published independently and being republished by Kensington. I'm excited to continue the whole series!

I quite enjoyed this book, it was a fun time… a couple of moments through the insta-spice that didn’t sit well for me until later in the book when I knew the characters better. For me the plot twist was predictable, not sure if that’s cos I’ve watched too much supernatural or it if was on purpose, but I enjoyed the journey for the characters to work it out… I loved that the FCM was a chunky coloured woman with relatable hangups but it wasn’t her whole personality…

Can’t wait for the next one… give me more of these brothers yes please 😁

What do you get when you take a cursed Prince of Hell who just escaped with his three other brothers and mix in a “normal” human lady?

Great spice, amazing banter, and some twists and turns!

Ash and Eva have great chemistry and although faced with a curse of his own he meets her and things change for him through her.

If you’re looking for a spicy but cozy PNR this one is a great choice.

This book is cute. I liked the dynamics between the brothers. I also liked the chemistry between Ash and Eva when they were flirting. The spice was creative but I wish it was more detailed and less glossed over.

However the writing is a little clunky and there's not much development in the plot. There's explanation for stuff that doesn't really make a difference to the plot and it's kinda disjointed in the story.

If you're looking for a low effort read with minimal conflict, this might be the book for you.

Thank you to netgalley for an advanced copy of this book.

This book was so, so much fun! I read this book while on a holiday and it takes quite a bit for a book to hold my interest while on a trip, so I can wholeheartedly say that I loved this book. It was fun, suspenseful and truly not like anything I have ever read before. I requested it because it seemed unique and fun, and it sure did deliver on that front. The book is part of an interconnected standalone series, and I am so intrigued to see how the overarching plot develops as well as the character development that I know is coming! This is a series that has been out for a while now so I will be sure to check out the other books in the series. This book is equally plot and character driven and I thoroughly enjoyed the dual pov. This book touched on the fallen angel, angel vs demon vibes that was very present in early 2000s cult classics such as fallen, hush hush, and the shadowhunter series, so definitely pick up this book as your next read if you were a fan of those books growing up. Thank you netgalley and Kensington Publishing for providing this arc!

I had to DNF this at 16% because I don’t hate myself enough to keep reading. The writing is absolutely terrible and, while the story could use some tweaking, the writing is what made me quit reading. I quite literally stopped in the middle of a chapter, in the middle of a sex scene even, and the writing was such a chore to read that I had no desire to even finish the scene, let alone the chapter. I would encourage literally everyone to read practically anything else and save yourself the effort of trying to read this. Every other sentence feels like it’s in a competition with itself to land in a “Family Guy Funny Moments” video clip, and the other half is spent telling you what’s going on in the story as opposed to writing about what’s going on. Combining these two things made it a herculean effort to even read as far as I did.

The “demons” in this book are nothing more than overly sexy regular looking men, who sometimes have demon forms. Their talking with one another is cheap, vulgar, and the way they talk about women is disgusting - making it even worse that one of them is the main love interest in this book. Not to mention that the main male love interest has a curse that makes “anyone who would be attracted to him not be” and they ignore him - and yet, he’s said he’s had sex with women before, despite them not being attracted to him. Now, I’m no expert, but it really sounds like this book, multiple times mind you, is tiptoeing around him assaulting women for his own pleasure. If not, it doesn’t make it clear enough that that’s not the case.

‘It wasn’t like he’d been celibate since he’d been cursed - he was a demon, thank you very much - but his sexual partners hadn’t exactly been passionate participants.’

‘How to explain the lengths he was willing to go to have sex with a woman who was actually attracted to him?’

I also had difficulty getting into the “lust at first sight” thing, when it’s stated that the main guy is a lust demon, so since Eva can see him then she has practically no option but to be sexually interested in him and finding him hot. It’s not a legitimate connection at all, and it also has some uncomfortable implications for the other demons in this book having sex with women. It makes the reader consider that none of these women are actually saying yes to having sex with these men, only that their demonic traits are so attractive that they have no choice but to be insanely attracted to them and wanting to have sex with them. So…it’s, essentially, not their choice at all.

“She saw through the curse. Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
“How? What did she say?”
“She told me she was attracted to me.”
“What did she say?”
“She said I was the ‘hottest guy’” - he made little finger quotes - “she’d ever seen. She said she was so attracted to me, she ‘couldn’t keep it in her pants’”
“Damn! She must have really seen you then. But how?”
His brothers could only see him because they weren’t attracted to him. It was only potential sexual partners that looked at him like a piece of old drywall. Except Eva hadn't. Eva was attracted to him.

See, this? THIS made me question whether or not she even was attracted to him. Because this makes it seem like maybe she wouldn’t have been attracted to him, and that that is why she ‘is’! She’s not “seeing through the curse” - the curse is still working as intended, and normally she wouldn’t have been interested. Except now she is. And she doesn’t have a choice about it.

And granted. I KNOW that that’s not the intent. But, this is what I mean when I saw the very nature of them being lust demons sends a potential wrench in things, because I shouldn’t even be worried that the attraction the main woman leads is being coerced from her. And yet, that was my first thought.

We also get to fall into the classic “men are horndogs and women aren’t supposed to be promiscuous or to feel horny, because that’s a ‘man thing.” Yikes. I know this book was originally written a few years ago, but you’d think such poor beliefs and thoughts would have been edited out for a 2025 re-release.

‘Poor Skye was the most impulsive person Eva knew, and she had a sex drive to rival any man’s.’

Also, the word (I use this loosely) “fucknut” is on the literally first page, and it only got worse from there.

“Humans are fragile. Pretty sure they could make themselves sick by thinking too much.”
“He’s not human, idiot.”
“Shut it, fucknut.”
You’re the fucknut, asshole.”
You’re the asshole, fu-”

The main love interest goes by both Asmodeus and Ash, which is fine, but there are many times where both names are used on the same page! As if they’re two different people! Surely this could have been more tightly edited to at least have him using one name during the same situation.

“Damn it,” was Asmodeus’s response.
“Especially you two idiots.” He gestured to Bel and Ash.
Ash rolled his eyes.

ASH AND ASMODEUS ARE THE SAME PERSON. I noticed this because, up until now, Ash was pretty much only going as Ash, and then, after that one time of Asmodeus, he goes BACK to being called Ash within the narrative.

The entire section in the middle where Eva calls her “not a normal mom, I’m a cool mom” parents could have been edited a bit better, as well. As it was, it felt a little off that she not only tells her mom that she thinks she saw a demon, but internally she’s glad her mom wouldn’t suggest something like - oh, I don’t know - seeing a doctor and possibly needing medication. The horror! Eva also calls it “the shrink” in a disparaging way when she asks if she should see someone about her mental health.

‘Leave it to her mom to come up with a semi-reasonable plan to figure out if she was hallucinating or not. Anyone else would have told her to go straight to a shrink and start popping some heavy medication.’

Lovely. I personally adore it when mental health and needing medication is a joke.

Not to mention her mom fearmongering about GMO’s during this conversation, and Eva agreeing that “the chemicals in processed food” could have caused her to hallucinate. That’s not what GMO’s are, but okay.

Finally, this has nothing to do with anything else, but I found it a bit…uncomfortable…that the main woman lead works at a jazz club and yet spends the entire first chapter insulting the music that is playing at the club she performed at - trap music. And I understand, both are very different genres, but when both of those genres originated from black communities in the American South it seems an odd choice to disparage one and venerate the other.

And finally, just two quotes I couldn’t help but include because they fully made me stop and question what the actual hell I was wasting my time with reading. This book, single-handedly, made me change my mind about generally not rating books that I DNF, because the fact that this book has such a high rating makes me lose my mind. I knew we were in a literacy crisis, but I genuinely don’t wish to believe so many people are so illiterate that they would not only be able to finish reading this affront to literature, but then have the desire to rate it highly.

‘Her wild hair, her short, curvy body, and that ridiculously round ass that he wanted to bite so fucking bad…He had to have her. No question.
But first: music.’

But first, coffee! Sigh.

“It looked like a pug crossed with Gollum. A pig crossed with a bat. A monkey crossed with Dobby the House Elf who had bashed its face into a brick wall too many times. It was just ugly in every possible way.”

We could’ve just deleted this entire paragraph and saved me the difficulty of having to read it. That would have been nicer to my eyes, personally.

I’ll be honest, I could not get through this entire book. I made it 41% through before I had to put it down.

Originally I was very excited for this story based off of the synopsis, seeing a POC character deal with demons and love was very appealing to me! I couldn’t get pass the way the author described the FMC and how she wrote her throughout the chapters of the book I made it through. References were frequently made to her dark skin, big ass and curly hair and her style, even as an artsy WOC was limited to black leggings high tops and stereotypical hoop earrings and gaudy tops, when there was a real chance to flush her out as a character. There were multiple moments in the book where I felt like the author was really trying to push the stereotypical black woman style.

I think the author really missed the mark on writing a POC character. As a WOC I was a bit insulted by a few things I read in this book in reference to the FMC and her personality/ mannerisms. It also rubbed me wrong when I looked the author up fully and saw that she was not a POC as it seems like she didn’t do any research on what WOC of actually like from a WOC.

As I said the concept for the book was really exciting and I’m a bit sad I won’t be able to finish this book, but I really can’t get past how the FMC is being represented.

Ps. Maybe don’t include that she smokes cannabis and listens to reggae as a first introduction her her….

ARC Review:
Can I just start by saying how amazing and perfect the banter between the MCs in the book is? This book has the perfect amount of spice mixed with comedy. This was a fun read and a very easy read.

This was a fun read…but I did struggle at times to follow this writing. I was very much entertained by the paranormal setup this book has. I liked how Ash and Eva connected through music. I believe the first half of the book was solid because it really drew me in. It was the second half that I was very struggling with. I guess the plot there just got real easy and predictable for me. Other than that, I had fun

Love, love, love it! Ash and his demon brothers take care of each other, taunt, tease, threaten, and act like normal brothers would. Ash is so out of practice with women, due to a curse, that he is sweetly hesitant and trying to follow the "rules" with human Eva. I can hardly wait to read what happens next with this demon brotherhood!

My Funny Demon Valentine was so much fun! Ash and Eva meet at a bar and connect through their love for music. Even though Ash seems like he’s just a piece of wet cardboard to all women, Eva takes notice of him and his brain short circuits. This story follows their adventures and how a demon can learn to love. With a twist at the end that tied this together perfectly, I definitely enjoyed every minute of this. A tale of a runaway (and his very interesting brothers) and a girl who loves music, My Funny Demon Valentine takes you on a journey of a whirlwind romance, escape, and action. 4/5 stars!

I was so lucky to have received an ARC copy for this book!

This was such an adorable and fun read! I enjoyed diving into this new series and into a storyline I’m not used to reading. The banter between the brothers often had me laughing.

I absolutely loved the banter between Ash and Eva. I was DYING at some scenes and the spice was 🥵. There were times I felt that the story was a bit too mushy, but honestly, it’s more than likely just due to me not being used to reading stories that are similar. The 4 brothers were likable characters and the story was very easy to follow and enjoy.

If you like lighthearted, demon romances with HEA, this one is for you! I am so excited to read more about the brothers and dive deeper into this crazy family dynamic.

Fun premise, fun characters, but the tone just wavered towards being too juvenile for me, personally.
