Dollycas's Thoughts

We return to Magic Springs, Idaho just in time for the Harvest Moon Festival. Mia's Morsels has been selected to host the big event including the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant. This means building a stage for the contest and dealing with the contestants and their mothers or the significant person in their lives. The winner gets a seat for a family member on the local coven council for a year, bringing in enough money to change a person's life.

The coven believes there is some magical interference when contestants quit or are forced to leave the competition. Mia decides to investigate the situation herself with just one week to go before the new queen is crowned.  Someone has cast a spell. Mia needs to find out who before anyone else gets hurt.

This is such a great series filled with witches and their familiars. Mia has her hands full with the happenings at Mia's Morsels, her second job at the Lodge, and all the things happening in her daily life. Ms. Cahoon has surrounded her with a wonderful supporting cast. They become more developed with each story.

The old school where Mia and Christina live and that houses Mia's Morsels is a fascinating place with new surprises always coming to light. Hosting a festival and beauty pageant there adds to the novelty of the place. While Mia is not a member of the coven we do meet several witches that are.

The mystery was full of twists, secrets, and several suspects. The suspects are witches and that makes it all that more entertaining. It was fun to see Mia juggle and follow all the clues with a little help from her friends and grandmother, although her grandmother has a private project of her own. Mia's problem was most of the clues were based in magic so how could she give the mortal police chief the evidence he needed?

Six Stunning Sirens is a charming mystery that kept me captivated as the pages practically flew across my Kindle. Magic, mystery, and a little romance come together in a smashing paranormal culinary mystery set in a unique old building that is sure to please everyone who enjoys this genre. For me, it was A Perfect Escape.

I’ve had a rocky relationship with the Kitchen Witch series by Lynn Cahoon. While enjoying the characters, the mystery aspect, more often than not, falls a little short for me. So, I went into Six Stunning Sirens, the sixth book in the series, with some trepidation.

The Kitchen Witch series is set in a small town in Idaho with a “secret” community of magic users. Mia Malone is the main character, and we follow her as she navigates learning about her magic, building her business, and growing her relationships with those around her. And, of course, she is also a magnet for crimes to happen around her, and she can’t help but get involved in solving them.

In Six Stunning Sirens, Mia’s Morsels is chosen to host the town’s annual fall festival, which is a community event on the surface. But underneath, the festival is really all about the local coven and Mia’s Morsels is chosen because of her connection to the coven. Someone dies, and Mia, along with her friends and family, investigate while they’re hosting the event, which must go on.

As I turned the last page of the book, I had this sense of disappointment when it came to the mystery. Then I went back and all my reviews of this series and that was a constant theme. I keep coming back because I find Mia likable, the world is interesting, and I want to know how everything will evolve and grow. The mystery is just a secondary plot rather than the focus, which doesn’t get the attention it should for a mystery. The sleuthing felt like an afterthought between world and character-building scenes.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the book and will likely continue the series. I like how Mia and Trent’s relationship is building, as well as the twist with Mia’s roommate, Christina, and I am curious about where that subplot will end up. And even the whole festival/beauty pageant plot was fun and interesting, even if the mystery around it was on the weak side.

If you want a paranormal series with likable characters, a unique setting, and a little light mystery, you should pick up Six Stunning Sirens. I suggest reading the series in order rather than jumping in with this book.

This was a delightful addition to the series, and it’s as captivating as ever! The blend of culinary charm and supernatural intrigue is perfect for fall, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Autumn is the perfect time to snuggle up with a good cozy mystery! And this one is a perfect choice!

All the things we love about October: cooler weather, crisp leaves, witches and magic, fall snacks, pumpkins. And pageants?

Well, I don't know about your small town, but mine revolves around the yearly high school pageant (ours is in November). But our local fete is a lot less magical. And not as deadly.

"Mia sipped her coffee and wondered what was wrong with people." Me too, Mia, me too.

This book is a fun, quick read from a great series. Definitely jump in anywhere! What's not to love?

Mia's Morsels will be hosting the Harvest Moon Festival and there is a lot riding on its success. Mia will have to keep in check a bunch of stage moms and their daughters who are in the beauty contest. The winning family has a lot to gain like the inside track on the covers power. When one stage mom is murdered and another ends up in the hospital Mia suspects that magic is a foot. She knows that she must figure out what is going on and who is behind it and she has a week to do it. Follow along and see if she is able to put the pieces together before someone else ends up dead.

Book Review: Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon

Rating: 3 Stars

I just finished reading Six Stunning Sirens, the latest installment in Lynn Cahoon's delightful Kitchen Witch series, and I have to say, it was quite the charming read! This book follows Mia Malone as she gears up to cater the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant, a significant event for her catering business, Mia’s Morsels. Set against the backdrop of a cozy Idaho mountain town, this story combines the charm of a small community with a dash of magical intrigue.

Mia is excited about the opportunity to showcase her culinary talents while managing a gaggle of stage moms and their social-media-savvy daughters, all vying for a chance at the coveted title of queen. The stakes are high—winning means gaining inside access to the local coven's power, making this event even more intense. But just as the excitement builds, things take a dark turn when one of the stage moms is found dead and another is rushed to the hospital. Naturally, the coven starts to suspect that some magical mischief is at play. With the coronation just around the corner, Mia has to put on her sleuthing hat and figure out what's really going on in this cutthroat competition.

Overall, I found Six Stunning Sirens to be an entertaining addition to the series! I’ve really grown to enjoy Mia and her crew, and I've completely fallen in love with Cerby—their adorable hellhound companion. The mystery was well-constructed, keeping me guessing until the very end. Plus, the cozy setting made it easy to lose myself in the story. The pacing felt just right, with moments of tension balanced nicely against lighter scenes. And as a bonus, we even get some delicious recipes at the end!

While it didn't completely blow me away, it was still a solid read that kept me engaged from start to finish. If you’re looking for a whimsical mystery filled with magic, charming characters, and a touch of culinary flair, you might want to give this book a try!

Another charming installment in the kitchen witch series. Mia Malone, and her catering company, won the bid for the Magical Springs Harvest Queen contest. With the all the witchy pageant moms pushing their daughters and one of them using magic to hamper the competition, it's not just troublesome but dangerous. Well-plotted with interesting twists. However for full enjoyment, I would recommend reading at least some, if not all, of the earlier books And they are all worth reading.

There is a good mystery in this one, the characters grow and change (and this one in particular feels like it really does move them along in their lives), and the magic is interesting. The community and coven make for great characters and a charming setting.

This was an excellent addition to the Kitchen Witch Series!! I have grown to really enjoy Mia & Co. [and have completely fallen in love with Cerby!!] and I look forward to each new book. After a run of disappointing books, the fact that this was just so good and I didn't want to put it down to do other things just warmed my soul!!

Mia has her hands over-full in this one and her "to-do" list just seems to keep growing! With a temperamental [::ahem:: re: moronic, jealous, troublesome etc etc ::ahem::] boss on the warpath [note, Karma works V E R Y well in this one. IYKYK] and scheduling events and not telling Mia, a paranormal "beauty" pagent, that has a a history of sabotage that seems to be continuing that tradition, some serious bullying of a young, vulnerable girl and then a dead body [because, naturally], along with all the regular stuff that Mia has to daily deal with, and Mia is about to explode. It was a real treat to see how she deals with all of it, how everything comes together and how the mystery [I had NO IDEA who it was!! How GLORIOUS!!] is solved [add in Gran's special treat for Mia, and Christina's news, it makes for a really interesting ending]; it was a touch rushed IMO, but this time, it really added to the drama and I found I didn't mind it as much as I typically do.

The way the book ends kind of made me feel like this was the last book [I looked for info on if another book is forthcoming and came up empty] in the series and if that it so, it was a good ending, but I'm hoping not as this truly is one of my favorite series and I will be sad to see it end. I guess we can only wait and see.

Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon is her latest book in the Kitchen Witch series, following Mia Malone and her friends at Mia's Morsels. This time, Mia's is in charge of catering and hosting a Harvest Queen event, which brings out the best and the worst in all the pageant moms. When one mom ends up dead and another hospitalized, things take a sticky turn and they will have to work quick to find out who is behind it before the contest starts.
A good story, I really enjoyed it. Like always!
Thanks NetGalley

Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorites in the Kitchen Witch series!
It follows Mia our budding witch as her catering company, Mia’s Morsels hosts the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant. She's dealing with rival pageant mom's, and coven politics that are threatening the event. She also has some sabotage going on at her other job, The Lodge and her ex-fiance Trent is getting married too! Lots of drama to keep the story interesting.
Mia finds hidden potion bags all around the school and they end up causing the death of one of the pagent queen's mothers. She must track down who is out for blood at the event and if there is more than one culprit. Working with the local police who knows about the magic in the town, but is not involved with it, he leans on Mia for insight. Needless to say she has a lot on her plate.
There's also a final resolution to the Mr.Darcy mystery that has been going through the whole series. I really enjoyed this 6th instalment to the series!

Book #6 in the kitchen witch series. Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorite cozy authors. In the Kitchen Witch series, Mia is a caterer in a small town coven who manages to find trouble.....or does it find her? She's catering the Fall Festival which includes a beauty pageant where the mothers will do anything to make their daughters the queen. It sets the stage for several mishaps that Mia and her friends must solve before things get too far out of hand.

Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon is a Kitchen Witch story. Fun, for all. And now Mia’s Morsels is hosting the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant. They had won the bid over the Lodge, despite the fact fact that their vid was higher. Seems the Coven was worried about some of the “problems” the pageant had had the last few years and thought it could be better contained at the old school house. That meant Trent and Levi would have to build a runway in the back, though. Couldn’t have those spike heels sinking into the grass! Frank was doing everything he could to make her life miserable at the Lodge, where she had taken a full-time job as event coordinator to help pay the bills at the school house. She wan’t giving in, though. She would quit when she was ready. Hopefully she could hold out. Levi andChristina were fighting, which was never fun, but so were Trent’s parents. In fact his mother had moved into the school house with Mia. His father was a judge for the pageant and she was worried for him. He wouldn’t budge. She and Trent were fine, even though Isaac had made a last minute trip (days before his wedding) to Magic Springs to convince Mia to take hime back.

Mia is a fabulous character as are all of her friends. She comes to magic hesitantly, but respectfully. She has seen both good and bad and although her mother wanted nothing to do with it, she was coming around. Trent was the perfect boyfriend. Thoughtful, kind, giving. Lynn Cahoon has created a bevy of interesting and clever folks to round out this fun series. The mystery is a good one, rooted in magic, but easily solvable without resorting to magic, which make the local cop happy. Rooted in the past, as so many are. It is just, flat out, a good time.

I was invited to read Six Stunning Sirens by Kensington Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Negalley #KensingtonPublishing #LynnCahoon #SixStunningSirens

Harvest Queen pageants, baby showers, magic spells/curses, family drama, a cute and fluffy hellhound...Mia has her hands full in Cahoon's newest release in her Kitchen Witch Mystery series. I flew through reading this book and enjoyed every page.

I love this series so much. The mix of magic, mysteries, intriguing characters, twists and turns, and red herrings always has me eagerly awaiting each new book release.

Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

I love this series, especially because it doesn’t dance around the magical aspects but rather embraces them. This one we get delightful autumn imagery & a beauty contest gone wrong. It also has one of the best supporting cast of characters for the lead. I like when they’re helpful in the sleuthing & these ones are. The mystery gets interesting really fast, as you realize it’s involved with the coven’s politics & the need for people to want to win badly. We also get a lot of deal with Mia’s romantic life, both past & present. And Christina’s love life too. After six books I think we’re going to be transitioning in those areas in the upcoming novels. I loved this book! This is one of my current favourite cozy series, each one I’ve enjoyed & it only seems to get better each one. I’m looking forward to the future.

Six Stunning Sirens is book #6 in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series by Lynn Cahoon.

Mia Malone is a kitchen witch. She has a catering business as well as working;g at the Lodge to help make ends meet. She has her hands full with an obnoxious boss at the Lodge, catering the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant which literally turns into a killer competition, and family chaos. Mia’s friends and family are wonderful characters. This was a challenging mystery. Thank goodness for the little hellhound or things could have been much worse. I wasn’t expecting the ending. This was a great book and series.

Thank you to the author, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This delightful series is enchanting and fun to read. This is the Sixth in series in the Kitchen Witch Mystery Series. This was a charming and exciting addition to the series by cozy author Lyn Cahoon. Thank you to the author,. Net Galley and to the publisher for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.

In this excitng next in series our savvy protagnist is hosting a unique Fall theme beauty contest for daughters of the coven. When a murder occurs of one of the Mothers everyone is under suspicion. In addtion Mia is learning her powers and craft from her Grandmother that are not working and someone is attacking the cooking school with magic. Add in a new familiar in the form of a adorable small dog for Trent who adds humor and antics and everyone is on edge. Cats are added to the crew and much fun is going on while the cooking school is busy with orders for delivery and preparation for the contest. Mia and Trent are the perfect couple supporting each other. I love all the characters and how the author writes them all with such depth and fun.

This was one of the best cozy mysteries I have ever read. It was hysterically funny, engaging and a joy to read. I love the authors writing style as the well crafted characters are all a great addition to the series. Well done to the author. I cannot wait for the next in series. I read all her books cover to cover and love everything she writes. This is a outstanding paranormal series !

Lynn Cahoon's Six Stunning Sirens is about Mia struggling to make her grumpy boss (who sabotages her at every chance) happy while also trying to help put out the Harvest Moon Festival events with her small business, Mia's Morsels. Everything is going according to plan, or as according to plan as a festival of witches and wizards can go, until someone's magic bounces back and kills them. Mia must find out who has been using magic to tamper with the events before someone else ends up dead.

I really liked Six Stunning Sirens! I thought it was really fun for the fall season. I'm starting to get into spooky season books and holiday books and this one came at the perfect time. I really like Lynn Cahoon's writing here, I thought the whole thing was charming. My favorite part was that I did not figure out what was going on until it was happening in the page, all my guesses were wrong. While I really enjoyed the book, it took me a few days to finish which means it was more of a leisure read than needing to know what happens next, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Publishing | Kensington Cozies, and Lynn Cahoon for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Mia’s catering business is hosting The Harvest Moon Festival and Beauty Pageant. They’re making enough money to make Mia think she could quit her side job which is paying the bills. But the festival which is selecting the local teen witch of the year, appears to be more trouble than benefit. When the mother of one of the witches is found dead and spell balls are found throughout the building, Mia now has to find the murderer. I love Trent’s new hellhound Cerby-he’s a handful for sure. This is one of my favorite series and I can’t wait to see where the next book goes.
