This book was a delight! Right from the get-go, the opening chapter snagged my curiosity with its blend of mystery and paranormal romance. The ghostly tales woven throughout were a hoot, perfectly tickling my fancy for the supernatural—even with a few spine-chilling moments thrown into the mix. The characters were likable enough, though they didn't quite steal my heart. I rooted for their romance without being swept off my feet. Overall, it was a breezy read with a satisfying conclusion. Ghosts, intrigue, and love—a trifecta of fun. Who could ask for anything more?

I enjoyed this book. The ghost stories make it fun and spoke to my curious nature on that subject even if there were some scary things happening. I like the main characters Cain and Jenny but I didn’t love them. I was invested in their love story but I wasn’t over the moon. Still it was a good easy read and I was happy with the ending.

This was a fun easy book to read. It has ghosts, murder and romance. What more could a person as for? Kat Martin is a great story teller and I've loved her books for years. This one fit right in with her others. I loved it!

Jenny Spencer's Copper Star Saloon and Hotel in Jerome, Arizona, is reputed to be haunted, much like the entire town, which was once a notorious mining town. Cain Barrett, the affluent proprietor of the nearby Grandview Hotel, frequents the Copper Star Saloon during his hotel's renovation. Remembering Jenny from high school, he's keen on initiating a romantic pursuit. Meanwhile, Jenny has reopened a section of her hotel previously shut down by her uncle. With the occurrence of bizarre events and a murder in room 10, the situation seems to spiral. Determined, Jenny delves into the hotel's ancient journals for clues and enlists Cleo, a friend of Cain's grandmother, to exorcise the ghost. As Cain and Jenny grow closer, trust becomes pivotal if they are to elevate their relationship.

I HAVE THOUGHTS.
Hmm...where to start? The first chapter drew me in, made me curious as to how this mystery/paranormal romance was going to play out. Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last.
To be honest, I almost DNF'd after the *pauses to check notes* NINTH reference in 9 pages of text to someone's weight. I mean, really? And all of those references were about only one character! Ms. Martin clearly has some thoughts about people in larger bodies, for example, Heather, who is "a nice girl, a little overweight but working on it". It was just entirely unnecessary. The fat-phobic comments made me dislike the author. I may not read her work again. I don't remember this kind of commentary in her earlier work, so I don't know what happened.
The romance was ok, only mildly spicy, and how is no one else mentioning how our hero went without a condom, intentionally, without saying anything to our heroine, because he INVESTIGATED HER SEX LIFE AND KNEW SHE WAS ON THE PILL! And he brushes it off as no big deal, which she does concerningly quickly as well. Where is that red flag guy when you need him??
The paranormal aspect had potential, but fell flat for me toward the end. And the reveal of the villains seemed very abrupt and anti-climactic.
I didn't rate the editing errors, like Clyde becoming Clive for a sentence, but hopefully they catch those types of things before publishing. Those are the least of their problems, though, in my opinion. The premise was there, but the execution was shallow and lacked development. Maybe there would be room for more story development if we took out all the weight references? Just a suggestion.
Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington for the eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved this book, complete with a strong hero, unexplained incidents in old saloons and hotel rooms. Even attempts at murder. Can we say, a truly ghostly read! Have fun
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to read

I usually love Kat Martin books but this one wasn't the best . I did enjoy the ghost stories but the mystery itself wasn't very intriguing. The characters weren't very likable or well developed

Haunted by Kat Martin
This book keptme on the edge of my seat. I love a good romantic suspense and this book has it all as well as a secondary love story. Cain and Jenny are both strong in their convictions and both have a lot of baggage. She owns the Copper Star and he is opening the Grandview. The town of Jerome is full of ghost stories and the Copper Star has plenty. There is angst, mystery, discovery, murder, ghosts both real and other, wonderful friends and family, strong attraction, some laughs and tears and plenty of steam to get to a HEA. Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Haunting Informative Easy-to-read Page-turner Action-packed Tragic Scary Tear-jerker Romantic Entertaining Witty Happily Ever After Great world building Wonderful characters Steamy.

Fun read. It will leave you wondering are ghost real. Our two main characters have to decide the same. Lots of tension and romance here. Loved the setting. It holds a lot of interesting events. Many fron the past.

This is a well-written, entertaining, fast paced, romantic suspense novel. It has a likable, strong and capable female protagonist, a kind and caring male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, mystery, ghosts, vividly described settings, twists and turns, and a happily ever after ending. The hospitality industry and hotel are accurately portrayed and add depth to the story. Many thanks to Kensington Books, Ms. Martin, and NetGalley, who kindly provided me with an ARC of this wonderful novel. This is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed reading this book, Kat Martin is one of my favorite authors. This book is part romance, part mystery and part ghost story. Lots of twists and kept me guessing to the end. Thank you Netgalley for my arc.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, I literally couldn't put it down. I love all Kat Martin books, and this one is among my favorites. She blends a wonderful mix of historical fiction, history, mystery, supernatural, action, and romance to make this a very entertaining story. The characters were well developed with lots of depth. The town of Jerome, is a real ghost town and I found the authors notes at the end very interesting. It reads more like a mystery than a supernatural story, although there are some ghosts. Highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you’re in the mood for a spine-tingling tale that blends romance, historical mystery, and a touch of the supernatural, look no further than Kat Martin’s Haunted. This novel transports you to the eerie and atmospheric world of Jerome, Arizona, where past and present collide in the most thrilling way.
1898: Jerome is a wild and dangerous place, where copper mining brings wealth but also breeds robbery, prostitution, and violence. Amidst this chaos, a brutal murder sets off a chain of strange events that will resonate through the ages.
Present Day: Jenny Spencer runs the Copper Star Saloon and Hotel, one of Jerome’s most beloved tourist attractions. As Jenny and Cain dig into the past, they uncover a dusty journal, ghostly sightings, and a sinister connection between the old and new murders. This story goes between different timelines. There are ghost sightings, unexplained noises, more than one mystery and a romance. There are also a couple of twists in the story that will keep you guessing. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I enjoyed this book. It has been a long time since I have read a Kat Martin book but I will definitely be looking for more. Interesting storyline.

This is such a fascinating book. There is a lot of factual history in the book about Jerome, Arizona. There are ghosts and paranormal activity in the book. Lots of action and suspense. I was left holding my breath a few times. There’s an eclectic group of characters. I was so absorbed into the storyline and trying to catch the killer. I highly recommend this book if you like thrillers. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

A mining town in Arizona full of ghosts is the background for this suspenseful romance.
I'm a huge fan of a good ghost story. Even better when there is truth behind legends. This was a mix of a mystery and crazy things happening that will definitely have you on edge. I’ve been waiting for this one and whatever comes next from this author I’m so there.

3 stars
I may be in the minority here, but I found this book to be both unbelievable and facile. I thought it was going to be a paranormal romp, but it was more of a juvenile romance. The speed at which Jenny and Cain became involved was astounding. For someone who was badly hurt in her divorce, Jenny seemed reckless in her haste to team up with Cain. Likewise the object of her desire, Cain. Cain was domineering and controlling. I didn’t like him. He made me roll my eyes with the “damsel in distress” syndrome from which he seemed to suffer.
I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishing/Kensington for forwarding to me a copy of this book for me to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.

Haunted is a fun mystery set in Jerome, Arizona. Having visited Jerome a few times, I delighted in reading about places so much like ones I’ve visited. I liked the element of ghost hauntings, the history of the town and mining, and the relationship between Jenny and Cain. The mystery was good, and there were plenty of twists, turns, and suspense.
