I really enjoyed this follow up to Burns' Endurance. We see the return of Lyn Randle and Diana Squires now stuck with another impossible problem. I liked this continuation of their relationship and the new situation they find themselves in. Some of the old characters such as Dr. Amos and Ani are back and we also get to know Omara and Diana's family a bit better. There are a few points that get dragged out a bit with some political intrigue and while they are interesting there wasn't enough of the backstory to really pull me into all of it. There are also some points that fall too deeply into hypothetical details for me and my attention wandered a bit. overall a great read though and a great new story in this future world. I'd love to see more in the future!

I read this book as an arc, having not read the first book. It made sense, enough to get 4 stars. I am not sure my rating would change if I had read book 1 first. I was a bit confused about the aliens who were anti tech but wanted to travel back to their planet (not really what was going on, but that was what it seemed like at first). The eco-tourists sabotaging the machines that clean and restore water to aquifers was sadly funny, and all too realistic. I'm sure we'll get some of those terrorists when we work out the tech. I will probably read book 3 when it is available. I have an instinctive distrust of utopias.

This is the second book in the series and you should definitely read Endurance (book 1) before reading this one. The story that started in book one continues in this one.
Aside from the story continuing in Tenacity, Endurance is a great book.

For obvious reasons I can’t go into details about the story, but it’s good.
Much like Endurance, this book is very detailed, sometimes so much so I am wondering if it’s too much. I think, in the end, it’s totally fine.

This book is somewhat open ended. I can see third book, but if it doesn’t come, that’s ok. I am hoping the third instalment will follow.

The new adventures of Lyn and Diana
This is the sequel of the award-winning scifi Endurance (think Shackleton) and you really have to read Endurance before you start Tenacity because the author throws us in the middle of all those intrigues, friends and foes. Although I read and enjoyed Endurance I had a moment of muddling through all the references at the start of Tenacity.
My personal endurance paid of because Tenacity, once the story takes off, is every bit as fascinating as the story in book one: there are aliens, machinations of all sorts, loyalty and deception all coming together in a story which I couldn‘t put down.
I loved how Burnes weaved into the story a devastating war, climate change, the indomitable human spirit, great characters and action. And I have the not-so-sneaking suspicion that the mirage of paradise we get to glimpse has some not so pleasant surprises - which may or may not come up in the third instalment of this capitivating series.

I received an ARC via netgalley. The review is left voluntarily.

I normally love sci fi books. However, this book was a bit too long and complex with way to many plots and characters so I struggled to follow the story. A book written in 3rd person not my favourite either. I enjoyed some parts if the book but think it would have been so much better if shorter, more focus on some romance as well as not having the strange story line jumps that are a fact in this book.

I received a free ARC copy of this book via NetGalley.

A sequel to 'Endurance'. I read this book and was hoping for a follow up. And here it is. Starts with detailing the life Lyn and Diana are now living. Then Antonia, Diana's ex mother on law approaches her for help. She needs Diana's technical knowledge to create a wormhole in space. Diana and Lyn had destroyed all information about this so no one else could access it. What they decide to do, why and how and the challenges they meet make for a good continuation of the first book. Again, although it did not end on a cliffhanger, there is scope for a continuation of this saga. I will keep my fingers crossed.
