An entertaining romance by one of my favorite authors! Genna aspires to live a life of luxury and not follow in the footsteps of her sisters, and settle for being a companion. Because of her penchant for getting into scandals, her father sends her to the country estate, which she's not too pleased about because how is she to find a husband in such dull surroundings? Thomas is the town vicar, who is happy with his life now, but once upon a time lived his life as quite the rogue. When he spots Genna in his congregation, he is confused by the feelings she stirs within him because he has long given up that life. The two begin an unlikely courtship, but Genna doesn't believe Thomas is the right man for her and he doesn't feel Genna is the right type of woman he should have at his side. Despite their growing feelings for one another, they deny the strong bond developing between them. Can they both put aside their doubts long enough to realize they are perfect for each other?
An enjoyable story that was such fun to read! Genna and Thomas were well-developed and interesting characters and I enjoyed getting to know them and following their story.

Thomas Alderman leaves his life as a rogue and finds his calling as a vicar. His world is turned upsidedown when he becomes the guardian of his two nieces. Hiring a young lady from the village as a governess, Genevieve isn't a conventional young lady. At twenty-seven, she's yet to met the man she wants to marry. She has a carefree spirit and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Could two people be any more different? It's a conflict with the heart and society that can be unforgiving.
Descriptive sex.

Such a great read! Highly recommend this one.
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Knowing she needs to help mama and papa with the ever deteriorating estate. The young miss sets out to be e governess with no idea how to do so other than with love and understanding. But where there’s a will there’s a way. The vicar is so far over his head with his niece and nephew not knowing which way to turn but wanting the best for them. She does not have the est reputation but wants man that can provide for her with a normal typical ton marriage.
Typical Sandra Sookoo style and all the piece eventually fall together. Wonderful weekend read.

The Scandalous Governess and the Vicar
Genevieve is no ordinary governess. She has courted scandal at every turn, and now that she works as governess to the nieces of a vicar, will she shed her seductive ways?
Thomas is a reformed rogue turned vicar. Genevieve has enchanted not only his nieces, but also Thomas. It turns out that she has not abandoned her scandalous ways. There is seduction, but Thomas does not think she is the right woman for him. Genevieve might be scandalous, but she is also delightful. She easily connects with his spirited nieces, and she is not afraid to speak her mind.
Genevieve needs to marry a rich man to help her family, and Thomas needs to marry a woman with an unblemished reputation. Does love find a way? I especially enjoyed Genevieve's views on religion and her rebellious spirit. They are not conventional for her time.
What can I say? I loved this book! Loved the characters. I really think this author's writing flows well. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great intriguing and heartfelt romance story.
I have enjoyed the other books in this series, and my favorite character is still dear Nora.
But there is just something about this book, or maybe it's just Gigi, that feels wrong. It's not quite dubcon, but she completely dismisses Thomas' beliefs and basically runs right over any objections he has. Almost bullies and belittles him. It just feels icky. If the genders were reversed, there's absolutely no way I'd find that acceptable in a character, so I'm struggling to give Gigi a pass just because she's a woman.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
The Vicar And The Sinner
I liked this book! The plot is well written and engaging, with lots of emotion, steam, critical - almost philosophical - perspectives (which I enjoyed), banter and interesting characters. The chemistry between the two crackles from the start.
Gigi is forward, confident and intelligent. She doesn't follow convention and was a little too aggressive in her pursuits for my liking at first, but as the story progressed she really grew on me.
Thomas is a former rake looking to make amends for his past lifestyle, but he also has his flaws. He constantly strives for perfection in himself and others, which made his character too proper and a little tedious at times.
Unlike her older sisters, Genevieve "Gigi" Hasting feels restless and enjoys being scandalous. She doesn't want to become a paid companion and certainly doesn't want to marry for love and lose her freedom. If she does marry, it will be to a wealthy nobleman who won't force her to lead a boring, restrained life and follow societal rules. And she is not willing to sacrifice herself for the well-being of her parents.
As the third son of a Viscount, Thomas Alderman had no responsibilities and enjoyed his life as a rake, but then he decided to follow his calling and became a parson. After his parents, sister and brother-in-law were killed in a carriage accident, Thomas became the guardian of his two small, lively and orphaned nieces and has been looking for a governess who can handle the two spirited girls ever since.
When Thomas meets Gigi, he realises that she is perfect for the governess position and offers her the job. The two are immediately attracted to each other, even though they are completely different. Soon Genevieve wants to chase scandal with the handsome, pious vicar and Thomas has no chance against her seductive nature. But Thomas is not the kind of husband Genevieve wanted, and she is certainly not the kind of proper wife he needs for his congregation...
If you like opposites attract stories with strong heroines and seduced heroes, you will certainly enjoy this book!

In this historical romance we have a buccolic countryside setting.
Our hero is a young vicar who has two little nieces to bring up. When he was called to the Church he left behind the man he once was.
Our heroine and her sister's are facing a difficult time because their father is ailing and the financial situation is worrying.
Our characters think they are total opposites because that is how they want to be. Reality soon shows them who they really are and what they need.
A slightly spicy romance with lots of emotional moments, both sad and happy.
Good fun.
Sin and Scandal Made an interesting Romance
An interesting love story with a lot of turmoil, crying, uncertainty, inappropriate behaviors and so much more.
The handsome new vicar, Thomas was quite taken back after meeting and hiring the coquettish Gigi as the governess for his nieces.
Being a newly appointed vicar and she being the vivacious mischievous girl used to being steeped in scandal made this story a bit to unrealistic
for me. Not that I am a prude, but I just didn't care for some of her scandalous thinking for the time period.
The story was well written and moved at a fast pace along with many enjoyable moments and some very passionate love scenes.
The little girls Lily and Penny were darling along with the geese that added touch of enjoyment.
📚This series has been very enjoyable.
👀Cover is quite pretty and gives you a hint of Gigi's quirky little personality.
An Impossible Match by Sandra Sookoo is a Hasting Sisters’ romance and focuses on the third sister, Genevieve (Gigi) who is still at home with her parents but receiving pressure from her mother to marry or to obtain a position so she can help with expenses. Her father had gambled away all his money and they were are the brink. She doesn’t want to be a companion like her sisters, but maybe a governess. She hears that the vicar needs a governess. She remembers him as an old man, but she can deal with that. She goes to the church service to try to speak to him and is surprised to see the best looking man she’d ever seen take his place on the altar. She also notices a couple of young girls sitting by themselves. Their patience has run out and they are beginning to squabble. She leads them out of the church and they go to a meadow where they get to know one another. Gigi has trouble behaving also, so she understands, but she lets them know their behavior is unacceptable. Then they have fun. By and by the vicar joins them, amazed at how well his nieces are behaving. They return to the house for tea and she agrees to became governess to the girls. The trouble is just beginning for Thomas Alderman.
Thomas is the son of a viscount, but too far down the line to be the heir, so he spent many years in London, living the life of a rake. That became unsatisfying and he vowed to reform. Hence, his appearance as a vicar. His parents and the parents of the girls had died in a carriage accident, and here he was. He wanted to do right by them, but he had no idea how. Gigi was an unconventional governess but the girls loved her and the improvement in their behavior was notable. Gigi was not unhappy with the girls but her natural restlessness was raising its head and she didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t marry her: her reputation. She couldn’t marry him: he was a vicar, far from rich and London. This was a good story, as Sookoo’s always are. A huge problem to be overcome, and a realistic one. It was fun. Good characters, interesting, who got themselves into a variety of situations. Thanks Sandra Sookoo!

Miss Genevieve Hasting’s family as fallen on hard times, her father has gotten them into debt & now he’s ailing. Her two older sisters took paid work & are now happily married but Gigi refuses to become a companion. She wants to marry a rich lord! but she’s been banished to her father’s country estate as punishment for too many scandals. Mr Thomas Alderman is a country vicar, whose good looks make him extremely popular with the ladies of his congregation, he hasn’t given marriage much thought, for in his youth, he had been quite the rogue, but he left that behind & now is guardian to his two nieces & Gigi becomes governess these two delightful girls
The third book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. A well written well paced book with interesting characters I loved Penny & Lily who were naughty but delightful. I liked Thomas but struggled to love him as he was a bit weak which didn’t fit with the man he’d been before it was almost as if becoming a vicar had emasculated him but he did come through in the end. I did struggle to like Gigi I found her shallow, too flirtatious & self-centred but then she surprised me by really caring for Penny & Lily & the geese & swan also liked her. I did like the chemistry between the couple & how their relationship quickly deepened. Whilst not my favourite book by the author it was still an enjoyable romance

The third book in this series from an author I enjoy reading. Gigi is the third sister out of 6 sisters. Their family is in finance ruin and she grudgenly take a governess position with Thomas the new vicar. It took me awhile to like Gigi because she is a flirt and goes out of her way to tempt Thomas. He on the other hand gave up his rakish ways to become a vicar and doesn't need to be tempted. Interesting plot, with his adorable nieces and family members.
I had a hard time liking these characters. Gigi seemed very selfish in the beginning. Thomas goes from a rake to a vicar. I just couldn't see these two getting along and falling in love.
I selected this from the catalog because I'm a simp for historical romances and Dragonblade always treats me right. I was drawn in by this particular book because I had never read a romance featuring a vicar in my nearly 2 decades of reading this wonderful genre. I had seen them featured in various PBS dramas, but never in the role of love interest. I hadn't heard of Sandra Sookoo before this book, but she's definitely on my radar now. This book had great readability, although it did give me conflicting feelings as a pastor's daughter. The vicar and the governess had steamy chemistry together in the vicarage that I'm sure his parishioners would be none too pleased to hear.
An Impossible Match was a sweet historical romance that I couldn't put down. I started it mid-series, but most books do a good job of keeping the reader apprised of the previous installments. This book featured a wily spinster named Gigi and a handsome vicar called Thomas. They were electric together and far more close than a governess should be with her employer. As I don't usually care for children in romance novels, his nieces were adorable and just cheeky enough not to be annoying. My only complaint was the ick I was given whenever Gigi would tut-tut Thomas' religious convictions in favor of stolen kisses. He would quote scripture yet recall his former days as an unscrupulous rake in the same breath. I know it's a romance novel's purpose to hie the couple into bed by the 50% mark, but it slightly disturbed me to see Thomas abandon his faith so easily for forbidden romp with the governess. Morality aside, I did love the author's writing and felt she wrote the bedroom scenes rather adroitly. I can see why Gigi couldn't resist a vicar with those kinds of skills.
An Impossible Match was a fun, engaging English romance, even if a few elements rubbed me the wrong way. I'm very keen to pursue more of Sandra Sookoo's bibliography and catch up on her previous works. Her writing is addictive and I love the way her characters inevitably reach that happy ending. It may have been An Impossible Match, but we made it work in the end!
I do not consider myself particularly straight-laced, however, I was uncomfortable reading this novel as it went against my personal code of behavior. There are nevertheless redeeming features in this romance as Gigi reaches out to the vicar's charges and helps them to deal with their grief. I felt rather sorry for Thomas as he struggled with his feelings in the face of Gigi's blatant seduction, but when it comes to attraction, many people have fallen into the trap of acting on their desire. The novel does come to a sweet conclusion as Thomas woos Gigi together with his nieces, geese, and a swan. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Thomas is a former rake who is now a vicar who must soon find a wife. Gigi is an about to be on the shelf spinster who has no intention of settling down and becoming a wife. When she becomes governess to the single vicar’s wards the sparks fly. Can they both curb their wild ways to settle down? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
