Teenager Claire returns home from work to find both parents shot and killed in their beds.
Right off, the story easily grabbed me. Sheriff Bree Taggert and Investigator Matt Flynn team up with Matt’s retired K-9 to solve the mystery of Claires’s family. Twists and surprises were around every corner along with Claire being in continual danger.
Each character is well-balanced and interesting while the plot is fast-paced, emotional and full of suspense.
I guessed some twists but this is the first thriller in quite a while that has held my attention. 4.5 stars and a big thank you for that!
“You’re a certifiable badass—which is marketable, by the way. But most importantly, you put the community first. You risk your life to keep people safe.”
I recommend this for thriller lovers that love the quick intrigue and loveable characters!

4.5 stars.
Sheriff Bree Taggert is called to respond to a murder, where she quickly realizes the crime was not a burglary gone wrong. A couple was executed in bed, with their teenage daughter left as the sole survivor. Bree teams up with investigator Matt Flynn to work the case, but the more they uncover, the more questions they have. As Bree and Matt sift through the couple’s past, a tangled web of deception is revealed, making the truth harder to see.
It’s no secret that I love this series – Bree Taggert it easily one of my favorite main characters in a police procedural. She’s relatable, kind, brave, and always goes after what’s right. Her character progression over the course of the series is very well done; I’ve loved seeing her character grow, learn to love and be loved, and learn to rely on the support system she’s created around her.
I love the relationships Bree has developed over the course of the series. Her relationship with Matt warms my heart. I would have loved to see more of her family life in this book, including her niece, nephew, and Dana, but I’ll take whatever small snippets I can get. I also enjoyed seeing the relationship Bree shares with local politician, Madeline Jager, develop in a positive way.
The side characters included in this story were mostly members of the sheriff’s department, but I enjoyed seeing how they work together and their inner reactions. There are a few chapters in different POVs which I really enjoyed.
The plot of TRACK HER DOWN is compelling, complex, and features many twists and turns. It’s also fast-paced and kept me hooked from beginning to end. Leigh’s books always feature twists that I don’t see coming and this one was no different. I loved how everything tied together in the end and will be on the lookout for the next book in this series!
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher, Montlake, of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! All opinions expressed are my own.

4 1/2 STARS!
Addictive and filled with exhilarating drama and heart! The ninth book in Leigh's Bree Taggert series does not disappoint as the Sheriff is handed an epic mystery with twists around every corner. The case they are entrenched in this time hits close to home for Bree as memories from the past keep tormenting her as she races against time to keep a teen safe and figure out exactly what the motive in this madness really is. I wanted a smidge more from the home connection that is always so endearing in this series, but overall I really enjoyed the depth of emotion and strife throughout this story and look forward to more to come from Bree Taggert.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a strong feminine lead in a law enforcement storyline with a cast around her that always has her back and feels like family.

Another great story with characters I love! I love Bree Taggert is one of my favorite characters ever. I love the way she has changed with the upheaval in her personal life. I love her relationship with Matt. I love how she is a strong woman that still shows compassion to the people she encounters. The mystery in this one was interesting and had some hidden twists. I enjoyed the new characters introduced and look forward to seeing them again in future books. This book is a perfect way to spend a winter afternoon! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sheriff Bree Taggert's latest case is as bad as it gets: 17 year old Claire Mason is left alone in the world after she comes home from work to find both of her parents shot dead in their bed, and the killer seems to be coming after Claire next. As the investigation kicks off, it raises more questions than answers, not only about the killer's motive but also about Claire's family. As always with Melinda Leigh's books, the main characters are what really hook me: they are complex, caring, and genuine. The story is fast-paced with lots of action, and among all the twists there was one that definitely caught me by surprise.

Track her Down is the ninth book in Melinda Leigh’s Bree Taggert Series. This is a romantic suspense novel (heavy on the suspense) with a great storyline and fantastic characters.
When teenager Claire Mason comes home to find her parents shot to death in their bedroom, Sheriff Bree Tagget and Investigator Matt Flynn must work the case together to find the killer. Will they be able to find the motive and culprit before they strike again? Or will unexpected memories and a tragedy similar to her childhood experiences cause Bree and others to second guess her decisions? Read it and find out!
Another fantastic addition to this thrilling series. As always I couldn’t put this book down, until I was done. Leigh is a phenomenal writer who uses each book in the series to show the ever strong and deepening relationship between Matt and Bree. The connection between them is open, honest and extremely supportive, despite the constant stresses and challenges that their jobs throw at them. I can’t wait to read the next book to see their relationship further blossom. I also love how Leigh keeps the readers appraised with whats going on in the lives of all the amazing secondary characters in Grey Hollow. This series would make a great t.v. series.

Track Her Down is the 10th book in the Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. This was another action packed thriller, I can't get enough of this character and Matt. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.
I received and ARC from NetGalley and Montlake Publishing and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Bree and Matt are thrown in to the deep end again. They have their work cut out for them, between a double murder and dangerous animals on the loose.
Claire had come home from work to find both her parents murdered. While investigating Bree and Matt discovered more and more secrets everywhere they look.
I really liked how all of the team were involved in case and getting to know some of the newer characters better.
There were a few twists and turns along the way and they managed to throw me off my original way of thinking, but I’m so glad to know my early suspicions were right! There were a lot of surprises.
I enjoyed the pacing of the story and how much was going on. It kept me interested from start to finish.
Another great addition to the series.

Track Her Down by Melinda Leigh, part of the Bree Taggert series, might be my first Bree Taggert novel and it will not be my last. The story begins when Claire discovers her parents brutally murdered when she arrives home from work one night. The two are work from home lawyers and don't seem to have any known enemies. Who could possibly want to murder this normal, white collar couple? The case isn’t as straightforward as it might seem and when the daughter, Claire Mason, is stalked at the park it seems likely she might be the next target. Then there was the call about an alligator in nearby Grey Lake; except alligators aren’t supposed to be in New York. From page one I was held hostage by this story with its twists and turns that were unexpected and ingenious, until I reached the surprising conclusion. The twists, turns, and red herrings kept me on my toes while the tension built in this psychological thriller. Now I need to read some of the earlier books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Sheriff Bree Taggert and investigator Matt Flynn catch a new case when Josh and Shelly Mason are found executed in their bed by their only daughter Claire. Josh and Shelly are lawyers and have their own firm, specializing in small business law, and have lived in their house for 12 years with Claire. As Bree, Matt, and her team at the sheriff's department unravel the details of the murder, they discover shocking lies the Mason's hid. It's not long before the killer breaks back into the crime scene and starts hunting down Claire. The team is racing against time to solve the case before the killer succeeds and Claire is the next victim.
I thoroughly enjoy this series. This book is a great addition, although it could be read as a standalone. It's an easy and quick read. There are background details of the main characters peppered in that give a refresher for readers familiar with the series and are helpful for those who aren't. There are details of the murders, but it's not overly descriptive in a way that makes readers uncomfortable.

Do poor Bree and Matt ever get a chance to relax?!? 😩 Track Her Down was absolutely phenomenal! From start to finish, starts up hot and finishes blazing. Melinda always has interesting subplots in her novels; in this one was the sale of illegal exotic animals. Truly fascinating and you can tell she does her research into it. Always love the K9 assistance and love Greta who is in many of Bree's novels. A fantastic add to the Taggert series

Track Her Down is the 10th book of this series and the author continues to keep this series a must read for me. Claire Mason arrives home from work to find both her parents shot dead. Bree Taggert, Sheriff of Randolph County, New York, and her investigator ( and romantic partner), Matt Flynn investigate. The Masons were lawyers, was their occupation the reason for the killing, there were no signs of a burglary at the scene.. Things get intense when Claire is stalked at a park, is she now a target? In addition to this crime, Bree is perplexed when an alligator is found in a lake. All in a days work for Bree.
The book kept me engaged, As the investigation proceeds, things are not what they at first seem, secrets are revealed and we get some twists and turns until the surprising conclusion. If you enjoy a well written police procedural/mystery with some romance, family, and characters that are well developed, this is a series for you. I highly recommend starting with the first in the series, Cross Her Heart, which introduces Bree and her new family dynamic, and how she came to Randolph County. I look forward to the next book.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher, Montlake, for an ARC. The review is my own.

Page turner, thriller, suspense, and one heck of a twisty ride. I was 3/4 through the book before I had any clue who did it, and then my jaw dropped. I sure did not see that coming. Bree (sheriff) Matt ( her partner and consultant) and the rest of the team search for the killer of the double homicide. There is an alligator, wolf's and other exotic animals. We see more of Ruccos life and Adam. The series regular has become life family. The riveting and intense plot with emotional moments for the win. Thank you for the advance copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #TrachHerDown #BreeTaggert #MelindaLeigh #Montlake #NetGalley

Track Her Down is book 10 in the outstanding Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. I am so hooked on these characters and this series that I look forward to the next book as soon as I finish the current book. Track Her Down had me hooked from the start. A teenager returns home from work and finds the house unnaturally quiet. Her parents go to bed early to read, but normally her mom comes down when she hears Claire come in. Claire even stopped and got milkshakes for her and her mom to enjoy. As Claire goes upstairs to see her mom, she sees something no one should ever see. Her parents are in bed and there is blood everywhere. The sheets are soaked, her father's eyes are open, and staring at the ceiling. Her mom has a hole where her face used to be. They are both very dead and have been murdered in their bed!
As Sheriff Bree Taggert arrives on scene with her investigator and boyfriend Matt Flynn, the gory scene hits hard. She feels so awful for Claire having to find her parents like this. Bree knows all too well what Claire is going through having dealt with something horrific in her own family. Claire's parents worked from home, didn't socialize, and were lawyers. Who would want to kill them? Did they discover something that someone didn't want to come out? Claire has no idea as her parents never discussed work with her. It turns out as the investigation progresses that there are many suspects, but no clear answers. Claire's parents were keeping many secrets and any number of people may have wanted them dead. When someone starts following and chasing Claire, things go to another level of terror.
Can Bree, Matt, and the team keep Claire safe while investigating her parents murder? Why doesn't Claire know more about her parents? Did they really not have any friends or relatives? Why did they keep Claire from playing on sports teams at school and going to parties with friends? It seems very odd for a high school kid to have so many restrictions. Will Bree be able to crack the case? This is one of my favorite books in the series as it kept me guessing the entire time. I never saw the twist that comes towards the end! Wow, Melinda Leigh has done it again with the Bree Taggert series just getting better and better! I rate Track Her Down 5 stars with my very highest recommendation! If you love a good mystery then this is the book for you! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Montlake Publishing for an advanced copy of Track Her Down in exchange for a fair review! Track Her Down comes out on January 14 and should go to the top of your TBR pile! #TrackHerDown

I am always thrilled to see the next volume in Melinda Leigh's Bree Taggert series become available, and Track Her Down lived up to my high expectations, and then some. A strong female character with healthy relationships and a solid family-first attitude is a winner in my book, and Bree fits the bill.
I have become very fond of the characters in this series, and love the emotional growth that is shown throughout, as well as Bree's progress professionally from the first book until this, the tenth. Bree and Matt are, as always, central to the story, with Bree's family, Dana and Adam playing lesser roles than usual. Todd and Cady make a few appearances, and a new detective, Renata Zucca is introduced and will, I am sure play a role in future novels as she was instrumental in the story this time, as well.
The story this time, a double murder with a teenaged daughter who finds the bodies, has plenty of twists and turns, that kept me thinking right to the end. As always, the author works into the story a bit of her love for animals with the illegal wild animal trade playing a minor role.
I love this series, and hope Ms. Leigh continues these characters for many books to come. Thank you to Netgalley and Montlake for the digital ARC of Track Her Down by Melinda Leigh. The opinions in this review are my own.

Rating: 3.5 stars rounded up
Review: I really enjoyed this, it definitely kept me guessing throughout the whole story. There were so many twists that I did not see coming and I was reminded why I binged this series in 2023. Loved it!
Synopsis: A teenager returns home from work and finds her parents shot to death in their bed. Responding to the call, Sheriff Bree Taggert realizes the crime wasn’t a burglary gone wrong. The couple was executed. The sole survivor: their traumatized teenage daughter, Claire Mason.
Bree teams up with investigator Matt Flynn to work the case, but together they uncover more questions than answers. When Claire is stalked at the park, it’s clear the killer isn’t finished—and she’s the next target.
As Bree and Matt sift through the past—suspect by suspect—a tangled web of deception emerges, and the truth becomes harder to see. Because the victims’ entire lives were a lie. And the only way to protect the vulnerable girl is to unravel her parents’ secrets.

Book number ten hits close to home for Bree, it messes with her objectivity and brings up some painful memories. I loved how Bree and Matt have settled into domestic bless, except for the twenty-four-hour days after this double homicide. Need more of the romance and less of Bree's introspection. Just when you think you have it all figured out, watch out for the zinger.
Seventeen-year-old Claire Mason returns home after her part time job to find both her parents shot to death in their bed. She is a traumatized mess and Sheriff Bree Taggert can relate. When a search turns up little missing except for the couple's electronics, Bree suspects that robbery may not have been the motive for the murders. Working this case brings up all kinds of trauma that Bree suffered in her childhood. When Claire is chased at a local park, it looks like she may be a target too.
In addition to the murder, exotic animals are turning up in Gray's Lake. When the county supervisor calls Bree about an alligator in the lake, on the heels of Matt's sister taking in a wolf pup, Bree is faced with the possibility that there is an exotic animal smuggling ring operation in her county.
But that will have to take second place to the ongoing murder investigation where the Mason's many secrets could have led to their deaths.
My thanks to the Publisher and Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

I always enjoy the Bree Taggert series. It's a police procedural, with a found family, and there's K9 work too. I'm very attached to Bree and her family, her relationship with Matt, and her old partner, Dana.
Bree has revamped her force and it includes more women now. She still hates the politics, press conferences and is constantly questioned by one of the council. She and Matt are busy with a double homicide, a teen being stalked, and exotic animals loose in the area.
The couple who was murdered turn out to be con artists of a sort. They aren't who they seem. Their daughter is now being stalked by the press and also possibly by the murderer. She was the one who found them. It has parallels with Bree's childhood when both her parents died and where this teen will live in the future.
I really loved reading this twisty case, and the personal relationships which progressed. Things did not go as I thought they would. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the Bree Taggert series, Beyond Her Reach in September 2025.

This is the tenth book in the Bree Taggert series, is a gripping thriller filled with suspense, compelling characters, and emotional depth.
Bree and her team in Grey’s Hollow are thrust into a double homicide investigation after a couple is found dead, with their daughter, Claire, discovering the bodies. The case grows more complex as motives like financial troubles, neighbor disputes, and potential child abduction emerge. Meanwhile, Claire struggles with the devastating loss of her parents and her sense of identity.
Bree’s personal strength and resilience shine as she balances her professional duties with reflections on her own challenging past. Her relationship with Matt offers moments of warmth and stability amidst the tension. Readers will also enjoy lighter moments with the lovable dogs, Brody, Ladybug, and Vader.
With unpredictable twists, heartfelt character development, and a story that keeps you guessing, this book is a must-read for fans of the series and a perfect introduction for thriller enthusiasts.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is back! Pub date: Jan 14th
I've loved what I have read of this series. I started with book 5 and have liked these so much that I went back and got all the audiobooks for the entire series to go back and catch up (we are on book 10 and I haven't caught up yet but.... now I have the option, lol!)
Anyway, This case and the investigation were pretty twisted, but that's nothing new for Bree. What could be a straightforward case turns into a lot more. We have exotic animals playing a part in this story (not the same creepy, slithery variety we uncovered in another story in this series), we have maybe unreliable characters, twisted family dynamics, and small town politics (which Bree hates to have to be involved in). This book relied heavily on the police procedural but I don't mind that at all. This was fast paced, there are lots of tense moments throughout with some heartwarming ones too!
My only reason for 4 stars vs the full 5 is that there are a couple loose threads left at the end. I am a reader that likes everything to be tied in a neat little bow by the end, especially with a police procedural.
