There’s an excitement for the unexpected whenever I read Jewel’s books, and this one was no different. I fell in love with the storyline and the characters from the first chapter. It’s a beautiful story of love and fate, loss and healing. Jaymes is like a ray of sunshine—funny, loyal, and intelligent—while Fitz is the grumpy firefighter with a tragic past and the biggest heart. The two of them together are unforgettable.

When Jaymes moves to a small town as a temporary traveling nurse, she ends up living with Fitz and two other roommates. As they try to fight off their attraction, their pasts tangle in ways they never predicted. As you fall in love with them, you also fall in love with the side characters. I adored every minute of this book. It’s the perfect read for this time of year, with the Montana winter backdrop.

Since Sunday Morning I have been obsessed with Jewel and this book here just solidified that.

There was so much brokenness here and it was beautifully wrapped up in a way that I did not expect. The love affair is so good and frustrating at the same time but once you understand the history, you learn to accept the pain.
My review is so late but if you take anything away its that YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.
The total twist in the end I was not expecting and it made it even better!

Cant wait for the series to continue.

* Roommates to Lovers
* Traveling nurse
* Smoke Jumper/Firefighter
* Slow Burn but totally worth it

This is a good book. The two main characters are Jaymes and Fitz. Jaymes is a traveling nurse. Fitz is a smoke jumper. They meet when Jaymes travels to Montana for work. Fitz rents a room in Montana and Jaymes has rented a room in the same house. There is an instant attraction. Fitz is a loner. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

This is not my first book by Jewel E. Ann. Her books often strike me in sort of an odd way, which then resolves into an entrancing story (I will explain...) and this book was no exception. As this story begins, Jamie, a traveling psych nurse, has taken an assignment in Missoula, MT and moves in with three roommates, all involved in firefighting. House rule is that one is not allowed to sleep with any roommates. Fitz is the grouchy, loner smokejumper roommate, and in no time at all he and Jamie are taunting and pranking each other. The way the story begins and its early development feel very "jangly" to me - like a box of puzzle pieces from several puzzles that were thrown together accidentally. Having read Ms. Ann's work before, I knew to stick with the story and see what developed, and this novel followed that path. Having said all that, I have to say that I appreciate Ms. Ann's imagination and creativity; Jamie and Fitz eventually begin a relationship of sorts, but there are plenty of unseen twists and turns along the way. This was a very engaging story and I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

I was given an ARC and volunteered to provide a review.

From Air is an emotionally charged romance that blends heartbreak, passion, and personal growth against the backdrop of love's unpredictability. This novel follows Jamie, a traveling nurse navigating her grief after her mother’s death, and Fitz, a brooding smoke jumper with a grumpy exterior and a vulnerable heart.

The story begins with Jamie embarking on her journey of self-discovery and healing, choosing to travel across the U.S. while taking up temporary nursing assignments. Her first stop brings her to a shared living arrangement with three intriguing roommates, including Fitz. The initial "no sex between roommates" rule quickly dissolves in the face of their undeniable chemistry, leading to a fiery yet tender connection. However, Fitz's commitment issues and fear of attachment create a dynamic fraught with tension, making the love story all the more compelling.

Jewel E. Ann masterfully writes Fitz as a complex and layered character. His grumpiness adds charm, especially when juxtaposed with his growing soft spot for Jamie. Their interactions, equal parts banter, vulnerability, and passion, drive much of the narrative, creating a love story that feels authentic and deeply human. Jamie’s resilience and willingness to follow her heart despite the risks make her a relatable and inspiring heroine.

The plot twist mid-novel is a game-changer, injecting high-stakes drama that propels the story into unexpected emotional depths. This twist challenges the characters, asking whether fate or coincidence governs life's most pivotal moments.
One of the book's strengths lies in its exploration of themes like grief, personal growth, and the power of connection. The prose is evocative, drawing readers into both the romance and the inner turmoil of its characters. While the pacing occasionally lags during the quieter moments, the payoff is worth it, with a poignant ending that lingers in the heart.
Overall, From Air is a beautifully crafted romance that captures the messiness and magic of love. Fitz’s gruff charm and Jamie’s emotional journey make for an engaging read, with enough twists and turns to keep readers hooked.

The perfection that is this book!
We are brought a new series Wildfire by author Jewel E Anne and what a way to hit us. This hidden romance, age gap, roommate, grumpy/Sunshine was amazing. Once I got on a roll in this book I was unable to out it down. The roll of each characters, the plot twist and the emotions....I can't get over it. As always trust the process that this author takes, she might break your heart and turn you into a blubbering mess, but as always in the end it was well worth it

Once more Jewel E Ann has written the perfect story.

This is not just a romance story but an emotional rollercoaster. When the tears come, and trust me they will, don’t say you weren’t warned, you will need tissues.

From Air is a journey full of love, angst, heartbreak, hope and the road to being healed again.

I went in blind to this book and I’m so glad I did, I think spoilers would have been too much.

This story is a tragic yet beautiful reminder of what it means to love, lose, heal and love again.

Buckle up for this very emotional rollercoaster, you won’t regret it. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.

This book is outstanding! From Air is my first book by Jewel E. Ann, and it won't be my last. I am ALL IN. Jamie and Calvin's story took me on an emotional journey, and I loved every moment.

Jamie "Jaymes" Andrews, a traveling psych nurse, heads to Montana for her next assignment and ends up living with a group of firefighters, including Calvin "Fitz" Fitzgerald—a 35-year-old, broody, workaholic smoke jumper. There are strict house rules, but that doesn’t stop sparks from flying. What starts as teasing and playful banter quickly turns into something deeper. Fitz is married to his job and is not looking for love, but Jamie can't help but be drawn to him. They have amazing chemistry, and Jamie is determined to peel back Fitz's many layers. As they grow closer, past trauma and secrets revealed threaten to ruin it all.

I was completely invested in Jamie and Fitz's journey. The plot is perfect, and the twists and turns literally left me speechless. This story made me feel every emotion. I yelled, was shocked, cried, and swooned over the grumpy and broken Fitz. This book broke my heart, then put it back together. From Air is a forbidden slow-burn angsty romance with delicious steam, fun side characters, amazing characters with depth, and top-tier found family vibes. This book DELIVERED and checks all the boxes. From Air is beautifully written, and the story wraps up with a perfectly satisfying ending. This is a must-read/listen, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Narration:
Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. I am highly impressed with their captivating performances. They both put so much emotion into their portrayals of the characters and really brought them to life. This audiobook elevated my experience with the story.

Such a touching, emotional, and heartfelt story. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from Jewel E. Ann. She definitely knows how to tug at your heartstrings. I loved Jamie and Calvin (Fitz). My heart broke for both of them for different reasons. No one should have to go through the pain that they went through. Fate brought them into each other's lives for a reason. Would they be strong enough to accept that fate, or will they be left with the ashes of what could have been? I can't wait to read more from this series!

Why is it that Jewel E. Ann books always strike a chord with me? I simply loved this one. The characters were all relatable and I fell right into the storyline. Even though I saw some of the things coming, I still loved the story and would highly recommend it.

Put simply, this is the story about the sweet new girl who falls in love with the closed off and hard to reach fire fighter. Even though he has a tough exterior, she will melt his heart and he destroys hers a little along the way. It's a solid storyline with two damaged characters trying to figure it all out - - my favorite kind. I look forward to reading the next ones in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy.

This book wrecked me in the best way. From Air is the perfect mix of swoony romance, gut-wrenching angst, and jaw-dropping twists. Jamie and Fitz have insane chemistry, hilarious banter, and the kind of tension that keeps you glued to the page.

Fitz is honest from the start—he can’t give Jamie what she deserves. And Jamie? She knows she can’t fix him. But that doesn’t stop their love from burning bright (and hurting in the process). Their story felt so raw and real, and just when I thought I had things figured out… BOOM, plot twist. If you love angsty, emotional, can’t-put-it-down romance, you need this one immediately.

Thank you Valentine PR, Montlake, and the author for the advanced reader copy.

☆ Forced Proximity

From Air is the first book in the Wildfire series by Jewel E. Ann, and it certainly offers a fiery romance set in the rugged, beautiful wilderness of Montana. Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, moves in with a house full of firefighters, and the heat starts to build quickly, especially between her and the broody Calvin, a smoke jumper ten years her senior.

I loved the dynamic between Jamie and Calvin. Jamie's playful teasing of Calvin as she tries to get him to open up was a fun twist, and I appreciated how their relationship developed, even though the attraction felt almost immediate. The push and pull between them created great tension, and I was invested in seeing how things would unfold.

What I didn’t love as much was how Calvin’s job as a smokejumper, which had so much potential for danger and intensity, was underexplored. I had hoped it would play a bigger role in the story, adding more excitement and urgency, but instead, it felt more like a background detail for why Calvin was hesitant to get attached.

The twists at the end were definitely surprising, but at times, it felt like things lined up a little too perfectly, which made it feel a bit contrived. Despite that, the romance and chemistry between Jamie and Calvin kept me engaged throughout, and the book definitely has its fair share of steamy moments and emotional depth.

Overall, I enjoyed the book but felt there was some untapped potential in the premise. If you’re a fan of slow-burn romance with some intriguing secrets, From Air will keep you hooked. Looking forward to seeing where the series goes next!

Rating: 4.25/5

- travel nurse x smoke jumper
- age gap (he's 10 years older)
- roommates
- secret romance
- 🌶️🌶️/5
- dual pov
- dual narration (via KU) by Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs

POV: Travel nurse Jamie moves to Montana on a six-month assignment and feels instantly drawn to her smoke-jumper roommate, Calvin. With a no-fraternisation household rule, they keep things casual and secret until she moves away on another assignment... and their pasts collide.

Jamie and Calvin's relationship is filled with banter, tension, heat, and heartfelt moments. It's also complicated with a capital C. Calvin is vehemently against love and marriage, and then along comes Jamie, turning his world upside down. They go from reluctant friends to secret friends with benefits (secret tattoos and become each other's person included) to long-distance friends.

Then things get more complicated with a typical Jewel plot twist. I kind of saw it coming, but not all of it! I personally love the drama, and the ending is perfect for them.

"I ground him. And he makes me soar."

• Angsty
• Tragic Past

First I loved the fact that this was based out of Montana! As a girl that lived there for 7 years it’s rare seeing books written about that area!

This book follows a travel nurse who is looking for a fresh start after something tragic happens. And a wildfire firefighter who doesn’t want the attachments of a relationship after he lost his parents.

Just so happens that these 2 become roommates and one of the house rules is “no sleeping with roommates”…. Simple task… right!? So they thought till they leave the confines of the shared space!

5 Stars!
Jaymes Andrews loves her job as a travel nurse. She doesn’t like to be in one place for too long. Feeling the need for change she takes a temporary six month position at a psychiatric clinic in Montana. She leaves warm Miami to move to Missoula and live in a house with firefighters. Her new roommates are strangers who soon become friends. She can’t help being fascinated with the one that’s a broody loner. Calvin is socially awkward and often grouchy, but there’s something about him she’s drawn to. He’s part of an elite group of wildland firefighters called smoke jumpers. At times he’s emotionally exhausting, but they still enjoy pushing each other’s buttons. As they clash sparks ignite between them. As feelings grow secrets are revealed, and the truth threatens to destroy something special.

From Air by Jewel E. Ann is the first book in her all new Wildfire series. It’s a unique, age gap, tortured lead, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, roommates, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance about friendship, self discovery, healing and found family. It’s a beautiful love story full of humor, secrets, mystery, angst, amazing chemistry and fabulous banter. I absolutely adored Jamie & Fitz together, and can’t wait for more in this world. Every time I read a Jewel E. Ann book I’m transported to a new magical place that captivates me. I always think each story is my favorite, and then she writes another brilliant book I can’t quit thinking about. <333

3 generous stars

This is my second disappointment from this author. She has written two of my favorite books ever, but it feels like she’s been putting out a lot of mediocre stories lately. This one felt over the top. I don’t think we needed that twist at the end. It felt unnecesssry and like it was trying to contrive emotion or angst.
