This was another great story by Jewel E Ann. The characters are so lovable. It is definitely angsty. And emotional.
Nobody does banter like Jewel. This is TOP TIER. The dialogue flows so naturally and it is hilarious.
There were some smaller jumps in the timeline at the beginning (weeks at a time) which kinda felt a little disjointed to me. But after those first several chapters, I really got into the groove of things and loved it! I couldn’t put it down.
Fitz was such a good MMC. He had these passionate and emotional monologues, not always kind but still understandable, that were just so powerful. Watching a broken grumpy man let his walls come down is *chefs kiss* when done right. And obviously JEA does it right.
And if you know me, you know, I rarely love an FMC. They’re just supporting characters in my mind the majority of the time. I’m quick to criticize them. But Jaymes. This girl is good! She is supportive and witty and understanding and strong.
The ending was a touch rushed for me. We had a little bit larger of a time jump at the end, and I wish we hadn’t. Those moments are the perfect opportunity to up the angst and let me experience those mournful moments with our MCs. Then Jaymes deserved more groveling from Fitz in the end. She should’ve required it and he should’ve given it. This is the only thing that held it back from perfection for me.
But it was such a great read. I went in totally blind, and I was completely surprised by the turn the book took. I had no idea it was going to be this kind of book. A bit of mystery wrapped up into it all.

From Air has everything I love in a book. Fun, friendship, wit, banter, steam and an amazing, captivating, angsty and multilayered storyline.
The characters are what initially drew me in. I adore a Jewel heroine and Jamie is absolutely wonderful. I don’t have the words to describe how much I love her. She’s so witty, vibrant, kind and thoughtful, empathetic and such a joy to read. I could go on and on! If she weren’t a fictional character, I’d want to add her to the circle of Jewel E Ann friends I wish I could hang out with on a regular basis. There’s also some great supporting characters who enrich the storyline further with their own banter and camaraderie.
Fitz is quite a broken man. When he’s not jumping from planes and fighting fires, he keeps to himself for the most part and is close mouthed when it comes to his family and personal life. However, there are hints that he has a tragic past and, knowing this author’s stories and how she likes to slap us in the face with the odd bombshell revelation, I couldn’t wait to find out what had made him the way he was. Yes, he could be rather crabby, but his interactions with Jamie their wisecracks and his inner dialogue, had me in absolute stitches. The banter between the two of them had me laughing like a loon.
As I’ve said, this story is multilayered and there’s certainly a good dose of angst and tension, which Ms Ann writes so well. From laughter to tears and back again, I loved every moment of this book. I’m so happy that it’s part of a series because although Fitz and Jamie’s story is complete I’m hoping we get another glimpse of them in the future.

“Jaymes isn't the girl of my dreams. I never allowed myself that luxury. She's the girl who has taught me how to dream.” 🥹
This book was absolutely amazing, it broke my heart and put it back together. The depth and emotion in this book was everything, these characters will stick with me forever.
Jaymes (Jamie) is a traveling nurse, she takes a job in Montana. She moves in with a group of firefighters, there’s one rule in the house, roommates are off limits. But when Jaymes sets her sights on Calvin (Fitz), can she stick to this rule? He’s a grumpy smoke jumper, married to his job. What starts as playful banter, turns into a raging fire 🔥
I never wanted this book to end, the way Jewel E. Ann writes her characters leaves you wanting more. Jamie and Fitz both had a lot of past trauma, they had an understanding towards one another. The emotional vulnerability added so much to this story, you could really feel what these characters were feeling.
I absolutely can’t wait for the second book in this series, I loved the side characters and so excited to learn more about them 😍 I absolutely recommend this book, such a beautifully written story!
Thank you Jewel E. Ann and VPR for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley, Montlake and Jewel E Ann for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I adored these characters. And. That. Banter. Just perfection.
I’m such a sucker for grumpy sunshine when there’s a “reason” for the grumpy. Then adding the banter and his inability to leave her alone. Ugh, so good!
Jamie is on her first travel nurse assignment, wanting to see the world after losing her mom. She’s living with 3 firefighters- Will, Maren and Calvin/Fitz in Montana.
Calvin Fitzgerald, aka Fitz, is a smoke jumper and wildly shut off from personal connection and relationships. He presents as a jerk but really he’s protecting himself from being hurt anymore than he has been.
Jamie is drawn to Fitz immediately and wants to draw out his secrets and “fix him”. They give each other a hard time and it quickly turns into not being able to get enough of each other.
When Jamie moves to her next assignment I was confused how the story was going to progress but whoa, it had only just started. Things get so much more complicated and heartbreaking.
Very much looking forward to the next book in this series, Maren’s story.

“My person”

I am the biggest Jewel e Ann fan. She is one of my favorite authors and I love everything she writers. When I heard this was nurse and fighter fighter plus roommates I knew i needed it and it did not disappoint .

I don’t have adequate words to describe my feelings for this book. It’s perfection, beautiful, and so many great other adjectives that I’m blanking. I’ve never cried finishing a book before, but I finished it, read the epilogue and then bawled my eyes out at the end. I’m still in shock, I know this will be a favorite book for me for life and I’m desperate to read book 2 right now. I’m not gonna lie I was so hoping this book would have been a duet with a cliffhanger because I’d do anything to have more of Calvin and Jaymes.
I mean this literally, but I was smiling the whole time I was reading this book, falling for these two characters in a way I never have before, but also it felt the same way they were falling for each other. These two are soulmates, two people who were meant to be together with fate, religion, the universe, destiny and all other controllers of the universe. Their story, watching them fall, but also pushing each other was the best time. I read this book slow and I savored it!
Jaymes and Calvin are both two broken people, with two very different worldviews, and yet so many similarities. They built a friendship, and later a relationship on that bond, and while forever might not have been what either of them wanted, it might be the only end that fits. I loved that Jaymes didn’t fight Calvin, she accepted his world view, and lived in it in the only way she knew how.
I don’t have any words left, but I can say you all should expect to see this book in my end of the year wrap-ups but also I won’t stop mentioning it ever. Go read it!

Jewel never let's me down! This book was the perfect mix of drama and humour. The push and pull between the mcs was great. It made me emotional at the end. You won't regret reading this.

Jaymes Andrews is a traveling psychiatric nurse and takes a job in Missoula, Montana and moves in with a group of firefighters. She sets her eyes on Calvin Fitzgerald, aka Fitz, a smoke jumper who is married to his job.
Jaymes and Calvin’s relationship is full of banter as Jamie finds herself completely drawn to Fitz, who is tormented by his past. There is such deep emotion and angst as you read this book, but you can feel the chemistry between them flying off the pages. I will say that Fitz’s character took some getting used to because he told a lot of lies and kept secrets, which I know was to protect himself and grandma, who is the only family he has left, while Jamie was very out and open about herself. The side characters were just as amazing as Jamie and Calvin. There are secrets and lies that Jamie uncovers about herself from her past. And holy mother of twists! I didn’t see it coming! It was completely mind blowing.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the series.

Argh!!! This book is so amazing!
From the first chapter I was completely hooked.
This lady has written a cast of characters that are so complete and believable. They’re people you want to know, people you care about and set in a world you want to be a a part of.
The relationship between Fitz and Jamie is full of intelligent banter, wonderful humour and the kind of sarcasm that I live for….
Jamie has the hugest heart, she’s a little bit quirky, a whole lot energetic and has the most amazing personality, the kind that draws you in and has you wanting to just be in her orbit.
Fitz is a bit of an enigma, no one really knows him that well. He hides his personality, his humour and also his pain behind grumpiness, sarcasm and indifference. But oh how I loved him…!
I loved how Jamie’s character teased out the truths from Fitz, how she gently inserted herself into his life with her love for humour, her intelligence and her care.
There’s a lot to like in this story but there is also a lot to think about. These two have some mammoth hills to climb, some major issues to come to terms with and with the help of some amazing friends I was so pleased with how this author found them the peace they both so desperately deserved.
This story is romantic, tender, heartbreaking but also joyous in both its conclusion and it’s narrative…. I had no idea what to expect and I’m so pleased I took the time to read it and gave the writing and storytelling the respect it deserves!
I’m even more looking forward to the next in the series😊

This was the second book I’ve read by Jewel E. Ann and she does not disappoint!
When Jamie Andrews takes on travel nursing and moves into a house in Montana with firefighters, she doesn’t expect to meet people that will become her dearest friends. She also doesn’t expect to be extremely interested in the moody and seemingly unfriendly Calvin Fitzgerald. But Jamie, being a psych nurse, is drawn to his moodiness and tries more to understand him.
Calvin is a loner. He loves his job as a smoke jumper and is married to his job. He does not want any kind of relationship and is happy being alone for the rest of his life. His job comes with danger and he does not want to leave anyone behind if something were to happen to him when he’s out on a fire. H
What Jamie doesn’t expect to happen is to fall for the grumpy Calvin. She doesn’t expect him to reciprocate her feelings. She develops such strong feelings for him that she digs deeper to understand who he is and why he is so shut off. His past is rattling, but hers is even more so. Things get shuffled when they realize that their two crazy paths actually are meshed together…

The plot twist in this is AMAZING. I was not expecting the way things fanned out. But of course, it made our characters all the more stronger in their relationships and roles.
Thank you Jewell E. Ann, NetGalley, & Valentine PR for the ARC. This was a truly amazing read!

The absolute chokehold this book had my heart in! It was honestly a travesty the few times I had to put it down because I have responsibilities 🙄😅. Ugh, I just knew I was gonna love this book and I’m so thankful to Valentine PR for the early copy.
Jamie and Fitz are perfection together! And Fitz is a total Capricorn (I would know, I married one 🤣.)…and holy moly the plot twists 🤯. One I could kind of see coming but the other one blew me away. Seriously, add this to your tbr immediately and read it as soon as it releases on 11/26! It’s currently 1 am and I had to stay up and finish this book cause it’s just that good!

Wow. I don’t know what else to say other than that. What an emotional and beautiful story. I can always count on a Jewel E. Ann book being great and this one was no exception.
Fitz and Jamie were great. There were certain times when Fitz lack of communication and commitment bothered me, but overall I think it was right for his character. The plot twist in this book made me literally gasp out loud, pause my reading and vent about it to my husband who really couldn’t care less 😂
This book got every emotional reaction out of me that it could. The banter made me laugh, the tears flowed freely many times, and I even got so mad at Fitz in a few parts. Nothing said 5 star read to me like the full spectrum of human emotion.
Definitely recommend this one!
Many thanks to Valentine PR and Jewel E. Ann for the gifted copy of the book

Ok wow! This book took a complete turn I didn’t expect, but made it absolutely incredible!
Fitz and Jamie! Gah! I loved them! I love the way they bantered and gave some enemies to lovers vibes! They are in a roommate situation so the forced proximity of them is exquisite! It just made their interactions so much more and then the way feelings sneak up on them. I loved it. They had amazing chemistry between them! Fitz is just so damn grumpy and beautiful and I loved that Jamie is quite literally his sunshine.
I loved the side characters, I love the twists this book took and the secrets hidden with in! I loved the emotions that it invoked. It was just an incredible read.
If you love an age gap, tortured lead, roommates to lovers grumpy sunshine romance then you definitely should pick this one up!

Jaymes (Jamie) is a travel nurse and she moves to Montana to work at a mental health clinic. She moves in with roommates Will, Maren and Calvin. Both Will and Maren are welcoming while Calvin is grouchy and an @sshole to her. What starts of at innocent jibes turns into full on pranks to get back at each other.
Despite his efforts to keep Jamie out of his mind and heart, Calvin fails terribly. She works her way into his life, and allows him into her heart. But can Calvin tear down his own walls to give their relationship a chance?
I loved the chats between the couple, and also the girl chats between Jamie and her bestie Melissa. The last act though switches from the light hearted banter to serious and painful discussions.
The transformation which Jamie brings into Calvin’s life is life-changing and I loved the redemption and forgiveness arc here, especially in this Christmas season. Prepare your tissues though, it’s not an easy ride!

When I say I love everything Jewel E. Ann writes, I mean it. Her stories are pure works of art—the love, the angst, the unforgettable characters, the SPICE, and let’s not forget, the plot is plotting every single time!
From Air is officially another favorite. Calvin, my grumpy smoke jumper, is everything I didn’t know I needed. The banter, the tension, the chemistry… absolute chef’s kiss.
If you want a book that makes you feel it all—love, loss, heartbreak, growth—grab this one ASAP. Calvin is now and forever my person. ❤️🔥

I have read a few book now by Jewel E. Ann and she's definitely a must read author. This is the first one I listened to in audio and I devoured it. I didn't want to stop listening to it. The narrators Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs did a wonderful job telling this story. I felt like I was there with them in this small town. Their voices were so smooth which held my attention and kept me entertained throughout the book. Jamie is a traveling psychiatric nurse and moves in with a house full of firefighters. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly except for the grump Calvin aka Fitz. As much as they want to fight their feelings for each other sparks do start to fly between them. But they have a No sleeping with roommates in their lease so they will have to fight the spark. This book does have some emotional and heartfelt moments. But there are times you will laugh, swoon and smile like crazy! I love the friendship and bond these characters have with each other. The story and characters are well written and enjoyable. I can't wait to see what's next for this series. I would HIGHLY recommend this audiobook,
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

From Air is book one in the Wildfire series and is Jaymes and Calvin (Fitz)'s story.
Jamie is a travel nurse who finds herself in Montana for her next job. She rents a room while there with three firemen. Fitz, one of the firemen roomies, is a fire jumper and risks his life fighting wildfires. These two are definitely grumpy x sunshine vibes.
Overall, I think this was a nicely written story and a first by this author for me. From Air has a bit of everything, from banter to laughs to steamy moments.

Jewel E Ann writes romance so poetically. She takes trauma and difficult situations and makes the story so beautiful. This story has trauma, friendships, love, humor, found family, and spice. The plot and plot twists were so good and written so well.

"I'd make the same mistake, because not all mistakes are bad. Sometimes, a mistake is taking a wrong turn, an unplanned detour."
Thank you Jewel E Ann and Valentine PR for my ARC! Excited to read the rest of this series.

5 Stars for this emotional journey
This book broke my heart and I couldn't put it down! The author drew me in right from the beginning. The banter was so realistic and the situations were things that could happen every day. I felt like I was right there in Montana with them. I love that even though Jamie lost so much, she had a positive outlook for the future. While Fitz was so devasted by his loss, he let it consume his whole life. The twist and turns the last part of the book ... wtf! I highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the next book this series.
After losing almost everyone in her life Jamie becomes a travel nurse and moves from Florida to Montana. She moves in with a house full of firefighters. But it's the silent grumpy Fitz (Calvin) that sparks her interest. Jamie is full of sunshine and hope ... she just feels it in her bones that she can help Fitz. Fitz considers his roommates family as that's all he has left. He's a smoke jumper who doesn't do relationships. If he gets hurt ... or worse, he doesn't want anyone mourning him. But when the effervescent Jamie moves in, he can't help but smiling and wait a minute ... did Fitz just laugh?
I received an ARC courtesy of Montlake through NetGalley.

I would like to thank Jewel E Ann, Net Galley, & Valentine PR.
Jaymes is a traveling nurse who takes a job in Montana. She moves in with three firefighters. Calvin “Fitz” Fitzgerald is a smoke jumper who is married to his job, find himself intrigued with Jaymes.
Jewel E Ann has once again wrote a book that took me on another emotional rollercoaster. Their relationship starts out fun & flirty. As their friendship grows so does their feelings. Jaymes is a strong full of life nurse but Fitz is closed off and doesn’t want marriage or kids. He loves his job and that’s it. But nothing is that easy. Jewel E Ann gives us more than a romance. She throws us these twist and turns and gives us the emotional angst. Fitz is keeping a secrets on why he is the way he is and Jaymes is just trying to find a way to break down his walls & reach his heart.
Also the secondary characters in the book were so great and she blended them in so well with Jaymes & Fritz’s journey.
I could not put this book down and I didn’t want their story to end. I’m so excited to see what Jewel E Ann has planned for the next book in the series.
