From Air - Jewel E Ann

The tension between these two from the beginning was absolute perfection, their flirty banter was so fun to read!

I loved that Jewel got you to fall for both characters, then them together before breaking you apart with some wild twists and turns I didn’t see coming!

Jaymes was such a loveable FMC, she was kind and caring, and willing to push Fitz out of his comfort zone! Fitz is so so frustrating but also I kind of loved him a lot!

This was so interesting for me as it showed me all the different types of ‘firefighters’ as Jaymes ends up living with 3 who do different types of firefighting jobs! Also Jaymes being a travelling nurse was a new concept for me too!

The revelations that come to light were so so wild! I loved the way that Jewel fed you crumbs throughout before dropping the big game changer!

Honestly I would recommend this book to anyone it was such a good read!

“You’re an illusion… A distraction. I can’t stop looking at you. And I can’t stop navigating closer to you, even though I know you’re unreachable.”

If Jewel writes it, I’m going to read it! I always look forward to each new book and this one didn’t disappoint. When it comes to Jewel’s books, I never know what we’re going to get. But I’m always down for whatever emotional rollercoaster she has in store for us. Her stories always have a way of sucking you in and never letting go.

Jamie and Calvin’s story had me hooked from beginning to end. The banter and chemistry between these two was simply perfection. The connection between them was undeniable and sizzling hot! But seeing how fate seemed to bring these two together to heal one another just tugged at my heartstrings. Jaymes and Calvin’s story was the perfect mix of humor, heartbreak, and perseverance. I couldn’t get enough of this emotionally charged love story. If there’s one thing that I love about Jewel’s books is how her stories bring out all the feels and this story was quite the emotional rollercoaster. For me, this book had it all. From Air is the perfect story for fans of tropes such as enemies to lovers, small town, forced proximity, found family, grumpy/sunshine and age gap romances.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It’s definitely one of the best enemies to lovers romances that I’ve read in a while. This book was the perfect kickoff to Jewel’s Wildfire series and a definite must read that you won’t want to miss!

The banter. The love. The spice.

Wow. Wow. Wow. 🥰 Jaymes (Jamie) and Calvin (Fitz) were perfect MCs and I wish I could have more of them.

This book was so good! It was beautiful and heartbreaking, with tension and angst, trauma and healing, love and family. I could not put it down and it is still living in my head rent free over a week after I’ve finished it.

There is so much more I want to say about this book but I also don’t want to give too much away. JUST PICK IT UP ASAP!

This book needs to come with a warning. Holy roller coaster of emotions. I was NOT expecting what I read after reading the blurb about this one. That being said Jewel did a wonderful job navigating these treacherous things called emotions in this book. Their relationship reminded me of the one in Ugly Love. I was expecting Calvin to be a grump which LORD was he, but he was also soooo gooey on the inside. You just had to get through his walls which were HIGH and THICK. Jaymes was a fresh breath of air for him. She was determined to crack him and was committed to staying along for the ride to a point. Every time I felt like they were getting somewhere Calvin would pull back again. I was baffled at the tug and pull. They had kind of an instant chemistry that you could feel through the pages. I liked the age gap. I liked how strong Jaymes (Jamie) was. She knew what she wanted which was Calvin BUT she wasn't willing to give up her dreams for him unless he met her halfway. Calvin was just an enigma. He would do all of these things to show Jamie how he felt but then would back away and make the excuse that she knew the score. Not going to lie I had a HARD time liking him until I had a better understanding of what he was trying to protect because of what he had endured. I liked how much Jamie pushed him. I liked that they were able to overcome it all FINALLY and get their HARD EARNED HEA.

Jamie is making her next move with her job as a traveling nurse. She has gotten setup in a house with a fireman through someone she knows in Missoula, Missouri. She is expecting to be a little out of her element. She is NOT expecting this immediate attraction with her new roommate, Calvin. She loves Will and Maren (her other roommates). Calvin is the enigma. He messes with her. He pranks her. They are doing this back and forth prank thing, but there is this underlying chemistry between them that neither of them are touching. Not just because there is a no hookup rule for the roommates, but because she can sense he won't be able to give her what she needs. But things just keep growing between them. So when they end up on a trip to Miami they can't fight it any longer. They have the best night together. They day drink together. They commit to each other how they can, but they also seem to understand that Calvin isn't willing to give her everything. So when they get home, they are back to roommates. Jamie understands there are things he doesn't want to talk about. She understands he is guarding himself, but she can only push him so far. So she applies for another job in California. She is devastated but not surprised when he lets her go. They decide to be "friendly" with each other. But then he comes to visit as surprise, and things continue to blossom. They are now committed. They are doing this. But then after Calvin finally tells her what happened to his family, the unthinkable happens. Jamie is unexpectedly connected to it. She finds out a lot about her past that she never knew. So now that she has him she has to let him go or at least that is what she has convinced herself. But will their love be enough to stand this? Will he be able to move past what she has told him? Because she knows she loves him for forever but she also knows that he might not reciprocate.

Calvin is set in his ways. He doesn't do relationships. He doesn't want a family. He THRIVES on his job which is being a smoke jumper. It is the adrenaline he needs. So when they get a new roommate and starts feelings things again, he does what he always does. He pours gasoline all over any thought of them being anything. At the same time, he can't stop thinking about her. He can't stop thinking about what they could maybe be but he knows in his heart of hearts, it will never happen. So when they end up going on a weekend trip together, they cave. He gives her what she wants with caveats. Nothing can go beyond this. He knows how she feels and she kind of knows how he feels. When they get home, they are back to nothing. He loses himself in work. He lets her move to California which is when he realizes his life is not the same without her in it. He knows he is a jerk but he can't help it. He is protecting himself. He doesn't want anyone to ever go through what his grandma went through. So even though she is what she is to him, she's his person. He finds himself not giving her everything. Until he can't fight it anymore. And now he is thinking about the future and ALL the things. But then she throws the unthinkable his way. She is somehow connected to what happened to his family through all of these flukes she has found out she isn't who she thought she was. And now he is back to hiding. It's too much. Their love might not be enough. But then he gets another chance with her and realizes that he was going to go after her anyways because she is his endgame. She is HIS PERSON.

This book made me feel SOO many things. I was excited and hanging on to when they would give in. But then I was crushed. Almost every time I thought we were getting somewhere I would be excited and then crushed. I don't know how Jamie stayed in it as long as she did but then I do because she loved him. I was heartbroken at learning about what happened to Calvin's fam. I was heartbroken to learn about Jamie's past. This book was about finding your person and fighting to make it work. Fighting through the grief and being brave enough to stand with them. I would definitely recommend it but with a box of tissues LOL.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jewel for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!!

I could not put this book down!

JEA gets you invested in the story within the first page.

The story telling in this book was phenomenal. I adored Fitz and Jamie. There connection was so authentic. I loved their banter and seeing their connection grow. There is humor, tension, swoon, heartache, spice, and moments that had me all in my feelings.

And oh that twist! I did NOT see that coming!

I have loved every book I have read by JEA. If you haven't read anything by her, you need to!

Tropes: travel nurse x smoke jumper, small town, roommates, forced proximity, grump x sunshine, secret relationship, angsty, hero with traumatic past

Fitz + Jaymes were so unexpected! I’ve learned that nothing is truly as it seems with Jewel E Ann’s stories and I absolutely love that. I went into this not knowing anything other then the MMC was a smoke jumper and OH MY was my mind blown. It was just a beautiful story. Getting to see Fitz heal and grow because of his love for Jaymes was so pure. There were some angsty moments where they both just made me wanna throw my kindle, but overall I just wanted to hug them both. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!

“Jaymes, you’re my favorite kind of wrong.”

When Jamie Andrews moves in with a house full of firefighters, things start heating up fast. Battling the wilderness of rural Montana, these guys are always charging into danger—for a living, for duty, for the rush—and since Jamie is a psychiatric nurse, they fascinate her analytic mind. She can’t help but fixate on Calvin, a grumpy, enigmatic smoke jumper ten years her senior. She makes playfully tormenting him her pet project, trying to get him to open up. It turns out he gives as good as he gets.

When something smoldering between them sparks, they’ll have to keep it quiet, which makes Jamie start to wonder about Calvin’s secret, the one he won’t explain. She’ll learn more after life pulls them apart. But as she follows the truth like a trail of flame into the dark, will it lead her to hearth and home with Calvin…or will it all go up in a blaze?

This book was beautifully written. I swooned, cried and gasped. There were times I was worried that Jaymes and Calvin wouldn’t have a HEA.

Buckle in for this cozy romantic ride.

“Calvin Fitzgerald makes me laugh. He makes me cry. He makes me swoon. He makes me blush. He makes me feel.”

Oh my gosh, I loved it! I have read other novels by this author and loved them. This novel did not disappoint. So so so good! I went into this novel blind not knowing much about the plot. I would recommend doing this. This novel took my emotions on such a wild ride. I loved the dialogue and the banter. From the first chapter this novel captured my attention and held on tight until the very last page. Even then this novel floated around in my head for days after I read it. So so good! I loved it! I loved Calvin and Jamie. Their chemistry was so so good! Once I started reading I could not put this novel down. This meant staying up all night reading. So so worth losing sleep over. This novel touched my heart! I can hardly wait to see what this author has coming next. I loved this novel!

Say hello to my latest obsession. I didn’t think Jewel could top If This is Love, but she might have done it with this one. From Air had me in a chokehold from start to finish, and I loved every minute of it. No one does angsty romance like Jewel E. Ann. She’ll have you crying one minute and laughing the next—the perfect balance of heavy and light.

This book deals with lots emotional topics, but the top tier banter keeps it from becoming too overwhelming. Jamie and Fitz were the perfect pairing. Give me a broody, grumpy MMC and a witty, sunshine-y FMC any day! I loved the depth Jewel created with these characters. I loved them all! I never wanted the book to end, and I can’t wait for book two!!

This is a wild ride of full blown ANGST and I’m here for it. From Air is a masterpiece and I will die on that hill. I’m in love with every single jaw dropping moments, and the love that flourished from it. Bravo, Jewel E Ann, BRAVO!

I don't think emotional is a big enough word to cover how this book made me feel! I have seen everyone raving about this author and I can see why! What a rollercoaster this was! I just loved everything about it, the banter, the feels, the burn, the heartache and more. A great story and unlike anything I've read. Loved the twist and turns. Can't wait for book 2.

Jewel has done it again! She manages to pack so much into her books, and doesn’t shy away from allowing her characters to experience true emotions, like grief and anger.

The chemistry between Fitz and Jamie was immediate, even though they were both resistant to the idea of a relationship. The physical tension was palpable and had me screaming from the rooftops for them to *get together already*! I loved the fact that he was a smoke jumper and she was a traveling psychiatric nurse.

Through the journey of traveling to Montana for her job, Jamie uncovers some deeply rooted family secrets that change the trajectory of their relationship in a pretty significant way. Their individual and collective journeys through the grieving process were refreshing to see, and made them characters that were very easy to connect with.

Jewel E. Ann has a way with romances. Fitz and Jamie are so much fun. They have some great banter and friction. It’s a romance they just can’t resist. A romance that took quite the unexpected turn. A little heartbreaking. A little healing. A love you have to believe you deserve.
I can't wait to read what else she has in store for the other characters continuing on in this series.

“𝑺𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒛𝒐𝒏. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅. 𝑺𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔.”

Jewel makes it IMPOSSIBLE to put her books down. From the moment I opened to the first page of From Air, I was in an absolute chokehold!!

Jamie was just the breath of fresh air Calvin needed.

The chemistry. The tension was instant and thickened with every page turned.
The banter was e👏🏾ve👏🏾ry👏🏾thing!👏🏾 My goodness, it was just so freaking good!!

Watching a grump have every wall broken down and falling in love is some of my favorite kind of kindle crack. Against all his resistance, Calvin fell undeniably and irrefutably hard. Jamie was right there beside him. He and Jamie as the quote goes, “fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.” These two were so set against anything involving the L word and of course, that’s when it hits the hardest, the truest and the deepest. And I felt every single bit of it.

Leave it to Jewel to have me going from busting out laughing to gasping out loud in shock to eyes full of tears.

I always go into a JEA book with my heart wide open and as emotionally prepared as possible. But, rarely is it ever enough. One thing about Jewel, she is not afraid of the unconventional. She is not afraid to make it hurt. She is the Queen of the expect the unexpected. From Air fit right into her unparalleled repertoire. I loved every minute, every second and hated to see it end.

“𝑰 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒂𝒓.”

Tropes to expect here:
- Firefighter (smoke jumper) MMC
- Psychiatric Nurse FMC
- Age Gap (he's 35, she's 25)
- Roommates
- Enemies to Lovers
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Tragic Past
- Lots of Angst
- One EPIC Plot Twist

If I were to dream up the perfect entrance into the world of Jewel E. Ann's writing, this book could not be more of a solid way to crash through those gates.

I went into this book completely blind. I thought the cover models were cute (lol) and applied for the arc on a whim one day. Having never read this author before, I had no expectations or ideations of what I would like to get out of this read, and I certainly never expected to love this as much as I did.

This author writes about grief, trauma and the subsequent healing so perfectly. It's so magical when an author can make you feel the raw emotions their characters are portraying on page. That feeling of a fist around your heart is a cruel but incredible treat.

Calvin and Jaymes are both larger than life characters with complexity woven throughout. I felt an instant pull to both of them which meant I knew I wouldn't come out of this read unscathed. Their enemies to lovers storyline was full of hilarious banter filled moments, and you could really feel their undeniable chemistry oozing from the pages. The perfect transition into a "will they won't they" dynamic left me so giddy and so very frustrated with them at the same time. What. A. STRONG.Couple.

The friendship group has me in a chokehold and I cannot wait to read the next instalment of the Wildfire series. The love and deep rooted 'found family' vibes between them is so precious, I have no doubt that the rest of this series is going to be just as incredible.

Needless to say, I just added another stellar read to my infinity star and 2024 favourites list. Impeccable.

I had no idea what i was getting myself into when I started this book, it was very addictive. The hate filled banter between Jaime and Calvin was just so good. Had a little mystery which was great to read, was not expecting this plot twist.

This is a new to me author, the tropes and cover sold me and those don’t even do justice on how much I loved this book. I read this in less then 24 hours and simply can’t wait for the next one. Infinity stars and on my top 5 reads of the year.

If that doesn’t sell you enough Jaymes moves her home in Florida to make her own way into new adventures, which leads her to Montana. She finds a room for rent for her short stay and it is a bit different then se anticipated. One of her roommates, is a grumpy smokejumper Calvin (Fitz), who isn’t quick to open up to anyone due to his troubled past.

This delivered swoon worthy moments, top tier banter, and amazing side characters. This had me giggling, and even had me tearing up and kept me guessing throughout the entire read. I simply can’t wait for book two and until then will be hitting Jewels backlist soon!
