Cute romance book with all the feels 💖
Jaymes is a traveling nurse that brings her to Montana. There she becomes the roommate of a broody smoke jumper (firefighter type). Their banter was entertaining and their character development was great.

this book was a whole whirlwind of emotions and i could not stop reading it. it was so good and such a great story. i loved every minute of calvin and jayme’s story. jayme went through so much and had so much growth throughout this book as well as facing so many curve balls thrown at her and she came out on top and with so much love in her heart. calvin the sweet man faced so many tragedies and life just kept coming for him and he just kept pushing on and ended up with the life he truly deserved after all that sadness. highly recommend this book, it was heartwarming and just a great book to read.

From Air is an emotional rollercoaster. Jewel E. Ann's start to her newest series is an epic romance with all the feels and some very interesting twists and turns. Ann knows how to craft a romance that will take you on a journey and her newest release does this beautifully. Ann's writing is evocative, banter filled and heavy with empathy. From Air is a story about two people who are the perfect match for the other, it is their journey of understanding, it is a story of grief and growth, it is a romance about trust and compassion. This novel is definitely not one to be entered into lightly, but if you give your trust to Ann she will provide you with a gratifying and heart warming romance that will stay with you.
This first installment in Ann's Wildfire series is the romance between a traveling psychiatric nurse-Jamie, and a smoke jumper-Calvin. They both have complicated pasts, but there is a bit of a mutual understanding between them because the both were home schooled. Jamie is tasked by their other roommates to try and fix Calvin, who is very private and closed off. As Jamie and Calvin begin to open themselves up to each other, they not only discover a mutual attraction, but a deep respect and pull to the other. I loved watching their journey, it has many ups and downs, and it packs an emotional punch along every step. I always enjoy seeing a hero who is set on not falling in love find himself in the inevitable downslide. Calvin does have an emotional past which has kept him from giving his heart to another but Jamie chips away at him piece by piece until he has no chance of not falling head over heals for her. Jamie and Calvin's romance really lives in the soft moments, it is through small gestures, glances and touches that the pull between then thrives. Their chemistry is intense and sensual, but they both also have this rich understanding of the other and we see they way they care for the other always being forefront in their actions.
From Air is very highly recommended by me. Jewel E. Ann will make you easily fall in love with this romance and the people who embody this story. She will keep you on an up and down ride that will be so worth the journey. I am so excited to watch this emotional series grow!
Thank you so much to Valentine PR for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Do you enjoy angsty, twisty romances? Then this is one for you to add to your TBR. My god, I was not expecting the way that this story turned out. Jewel E Ann is so masterful in these types of stories. Her characters are incredible, complex and quirky people. This story is about Jaymes, a psych nurse that embarks on a travel nursing position and moves to a new place with new roommates. She meets Calvin who is a smoke jumper and the spark fly ;). I enjoyed every single character in this story. There is spice, drama and some suspense. I also listened to most of this on audio and the narration was so good. They sounded just like I expected the characters to be.

This one goes from 0 too 100 right out of the gate! Wow what a start! If you hate a book with a slow start this one is for you! However, I did have trouble with the speedy timeline at the start.
The banter is GREAT between Jaymes and Fitz and hooks you from the start! I loved the side characters characters too!
There was ALOT of angst so if you love that then this one is for you! Im not a huge angst lover so it wasnt a favorite read of mine but I will definitely be trying more from this author in the future because it was very well written!
Thank you Montlake for the eARC, sorry this is so late!

Jewel E. Ann is amazing she writes in a way that no other author does. She makes me feel good then tears you apart and just builds you back. She adds some twists that you don’t see coming. She also creates these romance stories and that are amazing.
From Air was absolutely amazing. Not to give away a lot but I will be thinking about this book a lot and as I sit here and think about this book more and more I realize I can’t wait for Jewels next book.
Be ready cause this is a book I’ll be posting about a lot because Jewel knows how to make you think about a book and not stop.

Another Jewel E Ann book I couldn’t get enough of! From Air has so many things I love in a romance and the author put them all into the story perfectly. It’s filled with witty banter, angst, romantic tension, off limits/forbidden romance, age gap, mutual pining, emotional baggage, and fun. The two main characters were great together. I really believed in their romance and loved how the tension built between them until they couldn’t take it anymore. (I mean when a dry h*mping scene gets you hot, you know it can only go up from there and it did) The FMC was real and relatable. I felt I saw myself in her. (ex: a hopeless romantic “fixer” of emotionally unavailable men) The MMC being that emotionally damaged man with a hard candy shell she wants to break away at to get to his ooey gooey center. Both characters had really cool and different jobs, which I enjoyed reading about.
All in all, I devoured this book and the twist was gut wrenching! I was literally sobbing and felt every ounce of what the characters were feeling throughout the book. My one and only complaint is that I wanted just a little more from the epilogue. But that’s totally a personal preference and doesn’t take away from the story at all.

I love anything and everything Jewel E. Ann. She comes up with the most unique, engaging, and romantic stories. This one is also on audio, and I can't wait to reread and listen!

My favorite book of 2024! Their relationship jumped off the page and I felt it in my bones. Their banter was absolutely everything!

Sweet baby Jesus…this story. 😭😍
The banter is bantering in this book. It’s hilarious and sweet with a side of slightly forbidden spice. (Rule in the contract says no hooking up with other roommates) Roommates to lovers, both with tragic pasts. One closed off and resistant but falls fast but quiet. The other open, loves hard and freely and so so patient.
Fitz and Jaymes….this story takes you for a ride. Emotional, gut wrenching, shocking, beautiful. Wow.

This book... wow, just wow! Jewel’s writing is absolutely phenomenal. Whatever she writes, I’m here for it—I’ll devour every word.
I was completely captivated by Jamie and Fitz. Their connection felt so real, and the way they spoke to each other? It was pure magic. There was a softness and care in their words that made their bond feel so genuine, and you could truly sense how deeply they cared for one another.
Their journeys weren’t easy—Fitz wrestled with the ghosts of his past, while Jamie uncovered a past she didn’t even know she had. Despite it all, they were perfectly imperfect together, and I loved every moment of their story.
Take my advice and put this on your tbr and thank me later 😂

This was an exceptional read that captivated me right from the very first chapter. Jamie's character is incredibly well-written, with her confidence and witty remarks, making her an instant favourite. The book tackles some tough subjects, yet it manages to be a breath of fresh air, balancing heartfelt and emotional moments with a light, engaging narrative.
The standout for me for this story is the love story between Fitz and Jamie. This may seem an odd thing to say given this is a romance novel, but their relationship developed beautifully, and I felt this highlights their growth as individuals as well as a couple. Fitz, he grouchy and grumpy reluctant hero, adds depth and complexity to the romance, making it one of the best love stories I've read this year.
Their interactions are filled with witty banter, heartfelt moments, and a deep emotional connection that makes their love story truly memorable.
What is also worth noting is are the friendships. Jamie might only start with Melissa, but soon her circle grows and she then has a strong support system, this adds layers to the story and makes it more relatable. Fitz may close himself off to anyone and everyone around him, but he has people that are there for him, despite his reluctance to let anyone in.
I think these friendships highlight the importance of having a soli network of people that care about you, and they also play a crucial role in both Jamie and Fitz's journey throughout the book.
The more we delve deeper into this story, we start to uncover pieces of not only Fitz's past, but also Jamie's as well. We start to learn why Fitz comes across as an emotionless wall, as well as some interesting things Jamie finds out during her job as a travel nurse. I definitely did not expect the story to go in the direction it did and the more that you find out, the more your heart just breaks for them both. I found myself emotionally invested in their story, wiping my tears more than a few times!
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. This is a must-read for anyone who loves a good contemporary romance with a touch of drama and a lot of heart.

This one was a really good read! The characters of the book had great chemistry and I really liked how the story flowed through the pages. I loved the banter between Calvin and Jamie. So fun! There's also some intrigue and angst blending in with everything.
With some of my favorite tropes like forced proximity and forbidden romance, this grumpy sunshine was a treat to read! Our other characters also take up the stage with their magnetic personalities and made me invested into their lives as well!
It was my first book from this author and I would definitely recommend this book to contemporary romance lovers!

I’m constantly and forever blown away by Jewel’s ability to suck me into a story. I fell so hard for Calvin and Jamie and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be over them.
What you’ll get:
- Strangers/friends to lovers
- Forced proximity
- Firefighter MMC
- Traveling nurse FMC
- Emotional
The build up was perfection and the story was heartbreakingly beautiful. I’m pretty sure I cried the last 20% of the book and I’m totally ok with that.

Jewel E. Ann is an author who either really hits - or really misses - with me. Sadly, From Air goes in the miss category.
I can’t even complain about the writing. I think the author is very capable at creating unique characters and storylines. Her dialogue is great. I have nothing to complain about on those fronts.
But what I will complain about are two things. First, this was a lot of steam, to the detriment of character and plot development. For the first 70% of the book, we get very little about the hero or heroine outside their interactions - like, nothing about their jobs (which, hello, a travel nurse in a psychiatric hospital and a smoke jumper? PLEASE give us some of the action there!). There was more telling than showing, making it hard to connect with the hero and heroine.
Second, there was a lot of self-inflicted angst and I loathe characters where they just can’t seem to get out of the way of their own happiness. And I get even more frustrated with characters who know they have trauma but don’t do anything about it. I am not here for the whole no-strings-attached situation.
The only thing that pulled this story up from a single star was the plot twist I thought I saw coming - which I kinda did, but then twisted a way I didn’t. Otherwise, I really only enjoyed the last 30% of this book. The first 70% just felt like steamy fluff.
* thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Gah now this is classic Jewel E. Ann writing. I loved the raw emotions and the story as a whole. It was a beautiful read from start to finish.

The way these two intertwined makes for one great plot twist you wouldn’t have imagined. Absolutely heartbreaking. My heart ached for Calvin and Jamie. Jam packed with ALL THE FEELS From Air will have you on the edge of your seat. This is one I will definitely be grabbing on audio.

Both of the main characters, Jaymes/Jamie and Calvin/Fitz lives have been forever changed due to tragic losses in their past. She's a 25 year old traveling nurse, and he's a 35 year old smoke jumper. Jamie possesses a resilient spirit who has to fight back her demons. Calvin seems to have stalemated due to his past until Jamie starts poking and prodding to find out what makes him so grumpy. The journey these two take is slow but necessary until truths start to reveal themselves which alters the course of their relationship. The author takes us on highs and roller coasters into deep lows and around twists before this couple has a chance at their happily ever after.

I’m a crier. Sometimes an ugly crier. I was beginning to think I was broken because I hadn’t cried with the last ten-ish emotional books I read. But bless Jewel E. Ann for proving to me that my heart isn’t as black-hearted as I thought! Man, this book! Holy sh*t it made me cry, lol.
I’m a firm believer in trusting in the universe, in destiny, kismet, serendipity, etc. Jamie and Calvin, were meant to meet each other. They both are tortured souls as they have with a tragic past. But where Jamie is sunshine and light, Calvin is grumpy and dark. Calvin’s grief from the tragedy is so profound that it’s molded him into someone who’s afraid of commitment, doesn’t want a partner, doesn’t want love - he just wants to focus on his work and live out his life alone.
But Jaime breaks through his tough, mercurial exterior and shows him that he’s worthy of love even though he accepts it begrundingly. I loved Jaime and Fitz so much, and I loved them together and their story. The story was heartbreakingly beautiful and emotional. I loved that the book revealed hard truths to the MCs and the readers at the same time. I felt every emotion that they were going through. The plot has some light suspense and even some twists!
Please don’t sleep on this book. It truly is one of my favorite books of the year! I absolutely can’t wait to read Maren’s story next in From No Where, coming March 2025! 5⭐️
Thanks so much, Jewel and @valentine_pr_, for the complementary book. All opinions are my own!💕
