I fell in love with her writing style when I read Sunday Morning earlier this year, and was so so looking forward to reading more. From Air was out of this world!!! I loved the banter between these two characters. This was hands down some of the best banter I have seen in books, I loved the subtle revenge moments and how they would plot against one another. The build up and slow burn to their moment together was perfection. The anticipation I had leading up to every moment between Calvin and Jamie was crazy. And the PLOT TWIST!! This came out of left field and threw me for a loop like no other!! I promise you will not be disappointed reading From Air!

I recently finished From Air by Jewel E. Ann, and I have to say, it was quite the ride! This romance novel centers around Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, and Calvin, a grumpy smokejumper with a complicated past. Their journey together is both heartwarming and filled with tension, making it a captivating read.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the dynamic banter between Jamie and Calvin. Their witty exchanges had me laughing out loud at times, and I appreciated how their playful interactions deepened their connection. The grumpy/sunshine trope is one of my favorites, and Jewel E. Ann executed it brilliantly. Jamie’s light-heartedness perfectly contrasts Calvin’s serious demeanor, creating a compelling push and pull that kept me hooked.
The emotional depth of the story really resonated with me as well. The author doesn’t shy away from exploring the characters' traumatic backgrounds, which adds significant layers to their personalities. I found myself truly invested in their journey toward healing and love. The dual POV format allowed me to dive into both characters' thoughts and feelings, making their struggles and triumphs feel even more intimate.
While I enjoyed many aspects of the plot, I did notice that it leaned into some familiar romance tropes—like roommates to lovers and a ten-year age gap. However, Jewel E. Ann managed to refresh these elements with her unique storytelling style. The pacing felt just right, leading to a satisfying climax that kept me on my toes.
That said, there were moments where the story veered into melodrama, which might not appeal to everyone. A few plot developments felt predictable, but the emotional impact still hit home for me.
Overall, From Air is an entertaining read that beautifully combines humor, heartache, and romance. If you enjoy contemporary romance with complex characters and emotional depth, I highly recommend picking this one up!

𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗕: Jamie, a traveling nurse, has taken a job as a psychiatric nurse in rural Montana. She moves in with a house of firefighters & the number one rule is to not become intimately involved with any of the other roommates. However, Jamie is naturally drawn to her grumpy & closed off roommate, Calvin. They playfully joke around & mess with each other, but Calvin has closed himself off to any romantic relationships due to his tragic past. Jamie & Calvin grow close & Jamie wants to know more. Calvin doesn’t reveal his past to anyone till Jamie enters his life & slowly influences him to break down his walls.
𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: I am in LOVE with this book! I binged it & found myself staying up till 4am to finish this book because I literally could not put it down. The slow burn, angst, & tension between Jamie & Calvin was 🔥🔥. The secrets revealed in this one will have your jaw dropped to the floor. Both Calvin & Jamie’s pasts will have your eyes filled with tears. This one pulled so many different emotions out of me & I love when a book can do that! This one may put you on an emotional roller coaster, but I promise you it is soooo worth it!

Wow! From Air is a master class on undeniable chemistry and sexy banter. It’s also a story of healing and forgiveness, growth in midst of deep rooted fears and pain, and learning to love, especially when the chance to love “your person” comes around.
Jaymes Andrews is a psychiatric travel nurse who has taken a job in Missoula, Montana. When she arrives at the rental, she discovers she not only has one roommate, but three, including Calvin Fitzgerald, a grumpy, closed off smoke jumper. She’s drawn to him in an inexplicable way, and he to her in a way he’d rather deny. The rule is “no sex with a roommate”, but these two can’t seem to help themselves, their connection is too great, their flame too hot. They say it’s not forever, just a short while, but when the smoke clears, the damage is far greater than either can imagine.
Nothing, and I mean, nothing can make me love a book more than a damaged, grumpy, closed off hero with a sharp witted tongue and Fitz is that and SO much more! More than that, I eat up a book with a heroine to match! A strong, sassy woman with a comeback; a button pusher of epic proportions, especially if it will pry a smile out of a stoic man, and Jayme is the epitome of this woman. These two characters are explosive together! With one liners that have you cheesing and blushing throughout, I am in love with their story!
But this is a story by Jewel E. Ann so, you know heartache and healing is coming! I was ready! Only, I wasn’t! The twist in this story…never in my wildest dreams! It had me hurting for the revelations discovered and rooting for the healing of each character. It had me hoping for the happily ever after and the realization that when you find “your person” you can get through anything.

I’ve never read a firefighter romance before, so I was really excited to dive into this book. After finishing it, I can definitely say I’ll be picking up more books in this subgenre in the future. However, this one probably won’t be my favorite.
The premise of a firefighter and a travel nurse is intriguing, and I loved the set-up. But while their troubled pasts draw them together, the twist that occurs midway through the book felt a bit far-fetched, which made it harder for me to fully connect with the story.
I absolutely adored Calvin, the male main character. He was definitely the highlight for me. However, I had a hard time getting behind the relationship between him and Jamie. I love a good banter-filled dynamic, but when the entire foundation of the relationship relies on that banter, I start to feel a little disconnected.
Jewel E. Ann is undeniably a talented writer, and I will certainly read more of her work, but From Air just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Jewel E. Ann delivers yet another masterpiece with From Air, blending emotional depth with sizzling chemistry and vivid storytelling. This contemporary romance takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and the unrelenting pull of love between two people who couldn’t be more different yet perfectly matched.
Jamie, a sheltered and compassionate woman from Florida, embarks on a journey to broaden her horizons after the loss of her mother. As a traveling nurse, her first assignment takes her to a small town in rural Montana, where she rents a room from three rugged firefighters. Among them is Fritz, short for Calvin Fitzgerald, a stoic and enigmatic smokejumper whose job involves leaping into wildfires to extinguish them before they spiral out of control.
Jamie’s nurturing nature compels her to fix what’s broken in others, while Fritz’s aloof demeanor and guarded personality only deepen her curiosity about him. Despite warnings from her other roommates to steer clear of Fritz, Jamie finds herself drawn to him, and their initial wariness ignites into an undeniable, passionate connection.
he chemistry between Jamie and Fritz is electric, their interactions charged with tension and vulnerability. As they try to resist their mutual attraction, their bond grows stronger, forcing them to confront their personal wounds and emotional barriers. Jamie’s warmth and determination to heal those around her complement Fritz’s brooding and self-imposed isolation. Together, they become each other’s wildfire and salve—a beautiful contradiction that burns and heals in equal measure.
Jewel E. Ann’s prose is heartfelt and evocative, drawing readers into the vivid world she creates. Her ability to infuse emotion into every scene makes Jamie and Fritz’s journey deeply immersive. The duality of fire—as both a destructive force and a source of warmth—is a recurring metaphor that perfectly encapsulates their turbulent yet tender relationship.

From Air is an intense and fiery romance that captures the beauty of vulnerability and the strength it takes to heal. Jewel E. It’s a must-read for fans of emotionally charged love stories that linger in your heart long after you’ve turned the last page.

"From Air" by Jewel E. Ann left me breathless and speechless! After discovering Jewel's writing a couple months ago, I knew I had to dive into more of her works. This book exceeded expectations.
Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, moves to Montana for a fresh start, joining a household of fire rescue personnel, including enigmatic Fitz. Their banter-filled beginning had me hooked.
What captivated me:
- Well-developed side characters, setting the stage for an exciting series
- Perfect blend of humor, suspense, and emotional depth
-Their complicated pasts and vulnerable moments created and unforgettable bond
- Jewel's masterful emotional manipulation – I was emotionally invested, experiencing every twist and turn
This book expertly balances lighthearted moments with heart-wrenching twists. I couldn't put it down! I highly recommend Jewel E. Ann has secured her spot on one of my favorite authors list. I eagerly await the next installment in this captivating series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC of this book.
I have really loved most of the books that I've read from this author, and this was no exception. This book is about Jaymes, a travel nurse who has just moved to Montana after losing her mother to cancer. She ends up renting a room with roommates as she’ll only be there for 6 months. She sets her focus on Fitz, the grumpy and “broken” roommate.
I loved both of these characters, and found them incredibly endearing and real. So often in romance books, readers are left wondering why these two individuals really belong together, and why we care. I had none of these thoughts when considering Jaymes and Fitz - they are just right for the other.
This book gave me the same vibes as A Place Without You by Jewel, with more mature characters and higher stakes.
I am highly anticipating the next book in the series, Maren’s book!

Jamie is ready to embark on her next adventure as a travelling nurse where she finds herself living in Montana and sharing a home with three firefighters. She feels a connection with all her roommates but her connection with Calvin goes much deeper as she wants to understand what lays behind his testy demeanor as he fascinates her like no one else she has ever known.
Calvin is a smoke jumper who allows people only so close before he backs away. Even though he doesn’t want to have feelings for Jamie he can’t stay away so even though his words say one thing his actions say something very different.
The story has its moments of humor, but it definitely had its heart wrenching and heart-warming moments as well. The characters are captivating, their romance is beautiful, and the story is impossible to put down and leaves us wanting more of this series.

This book was just okay for me. Overall, I did enjoy the relationship development between Fitz & Jamie. There were a few things at the end for me that I didn't like - one being the way Fitz literally changed everything about how he was fundamentally as a human to make the relationship work. Also, the twist at the end was a little over the top. Unsure if I would continue with the next book in the series.

Wildfire #1
Immersive, emotional, heart-warming, wonderful story that drew me in, made me care, and left me with a smile on my face
What I liked:
* Reading a new-to-me-author that I would gladly read again
* Jamie: RN, homeschooled, quiet upbringing, lost her parents, good friend, traveling psychiatric nurse, wants to experience new places before settling down, mature, wise, caring, a person I would like to have as a friend
* Calvin: smoke jumper, difficult backstory, emotionally reserved, voracious reader, somewhat blocked off from others, likable, “broken”, loves deeply, caring, good friend, intriguing
* Supporting characters that were important and that I would like to see again: Maren, Will, and Melissa for sure…perhaps a few others
* Edith: Calvin’s grandmother who played a big part in Calvin’s life
* The development of the relationship between Jamie and Calvin ~ fun, flirty, quirky, sometimes difficult, and ultimately perfect
* The psychological and emotional issues dealt with, honest open communication of the main characters, the support of community and friends
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing ~ Excellently crafted book!
* The growth of both main characters as they processed new information and dealt with past and present issues
* Being reminded of taking student nurses to Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino and wondering if perhaps Dwight was in that prison/facility
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The emotional pain some of the characters experienced and the causes of that pain
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars

I was incredibly let down by this book. I wanted to enjoy this - all of the hallmarks were there: small town, grumpy x sunshine and men in uniform. Ultimately though, the story fell flat. I did not enjoy this and thought this was a poorly written story.

This story follows Jamie, a travel nurse who moves to Montana for a six-month stint. Moving in with three firefighters, one of them quickly catches her eye. Calvin, better known as Fitz, is grumpy and 10 years older. He’s a closed book, and Jamie can’t help but poke the bear, trying to get him to open up. Despite Calvin’s reluctance to settle down or commit, Jamie finds herself falling hard. But what will it take to get Calvin to let her in?
Jewel has done it again! This is a beautifully complicated relationship, with one person giving their all to someone who just can’t. The tension and chemistry between Jamie and Calvin were fantastic. And don’t even get me started on the plot twist—I never saw it coming, it threw a major spanner in the works. The story was deeply emotional at times, especially when declarations of love were made but Calvin remained unmoved but wanted to give his all. I absolutely love Jewel’s writing—she grips and captivates me every time I pick up one of her books. Highly recommend this and the audiobook!

Oh this book took me off guard! In the best way! It was great to step into this new world of first responders. It’s funny, sexy and raw. It’s breaking and healing and a twist on what destiny looks like when two souls are meant to be together. I laughed and then I cried because what these two have been through and go through & the devastation of the truth that bring and pull them apart, was both heartbreaking and healing.
Jaymes is my new favorite girl name I never encountered in all my reading adventures. She is exactly what need. She’s a caring and loving person who wants to give herself to the man of her dreams. She loves with a pure heart and unadulterated force we should all take notes from.
Fitz is a man, i meant a HOT man, much like many one may encounter until you see the truth and how it’s affected his life. He’s brave and devastating. Living the way he believes will keep his past hidden and maybe redeem what he had no control over.
This pair has fast become one of my favorites because it was an exchange of real talk and getting over obstacles they never even knew they had.
Jewel E Ann knows how to pull on those heartstrings so much so that you can’t hold your tears and hope that there something bright and beautiful at the end of that dark tunnel!
Also don’t we all love a man in uniform whose job is to jump into fires and save lives? Being a massive Chicago PD fan gave me a predisposed love for the job, the bravery and determination they all bring with what they do.
This book broke me, put me together and gave me hope. The flow of Jewels writing is impeccable, the banter, the love the reality of having to wait after you’ve been kissed in a forever way. It just flowed & tricked like a fire and I’m am most definitely a fan now!
Thank you for trusting me with this story and letting me know I need your words in my life 🔥

I felt a lot of emotions reading this story! It was my first introduction to this author’s work and I enjoyed the tale quite a bit. Jamie and Fitz how a unique connection that just read so much like “meant to be”. There is that sort of fated quality between them that I enjoyed. It was spicy while being so emotionally gripping with tons of angst and banter and tension. I would definitely recommend this to lovers of found family, grumpy men and romance with rich backstories. The audio was also really good so I would recommend the audiobook as well. If this is what I can look forward to from the series, I’m interested to see the other stories as well.

Review: From Air was a book that was supremely hard to put down! Jewel E. Ann once again gave us a book that ticks all the angst and emotional cups I have while reading and Jamie’s story was truly one that sucked me in. From the beginning I loved how strong yet broken Jamie’s character was the one who captured my attention and she kept it up until the very end. Jewel E. Ann was able to balance the struggles, the heart, the romance and Jamie’s growth in a way that did not feel rushed but also provided all the stuff we needed!
Jamie and Calvin are also a pair that just fit. From the first time they meet you can almost feel the instant connection and as the story goes on their connection and bond only grows. I enjoyed how they had very real faults as people in this story, I know the miscommunication and trouble communicating was a huge aspect of Calvin’s story and I found that it was managed really well in this book. I liked how his secrets and the way he was afraid to be completely vulnerable was one of the things that made him a perfectly flawed MMC.
From Air was a read that stuck after finishing and I am excited to get more characters from this series. Jewel E. Ann was able to captivate me while also giving us a romance that was able to keep me surprised as events and secrets unfolded.
Rating: 4/5; From Air was another emotional rollercoaster from Jewel E. Ann and I cannot wait for more!

Review: From Air had a PHENOMENAL audiobook. Both Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs were wonderful at bringing Jamie and Calvin to life and I wish I had more left to listen to! Jewel E. Ann know how to cast for the voices of her MCs and they truly emoted the stories in ways that made you feel like you were present and witnessing the romance unfold.
I felt like both of the narrators were able to envision the story and the characters they had but also meshed really well with the other narrator. Ada Sinclair sound exactly like I imagined Jamie would sound and she was able to input the ranges of emotions and vulnerability into Jamie’s story that was needed. Nelson Hobbs also did wonderful with Calvin’s POV as the tension rackets up and I enjoyed the way he was able to use the shiftiness in Calvin’s character to add an extra oomf!
This is truly a wonderful audiobook and one that I was ecstatic to have the chance to listen to. I am excited for more to come!
Rating: 5/5; An amazing audiobook that truly brought the story and characters to life!

ARC Review
Okay, maybe this book just was not right for me or maybe I tried reading it at the wrong time but this was just a 2 star read for me.
This book overall simply fell flat in general, but I was also bored for almost the entire book. It felt drawn out and way longer than necessary.
The romance aspect was fun for a bit but then that became boring too :( Also, the twist at the end was unnecessary and did not add anything to the book.
Thank you Valentine PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

JEA gripped my heart and stole me away with this one. A grumpy firefighter providing all the banter, YES PLEASE! There is so many ups and downs in this one, so prepare yourself for a wild ride. The connection between these two is so beautiful.

I really enjoyed Fitz and Jamie‘s story. I love a grumpy man in a uniform, especially a firefighter. And Fitz? He’s a smoke jumper. Set me on fire right now! I loved their “enemy” banter and how their relationship developed. It was a slow build with intense attraction to each other. I really liked how their love story place didn’t develop quickly. Their story spanned many months which made it even more real. They go through a lot together, the ups and downs are pretty intense at times. It almost seems impossible that they will get their HEA. Overall it was a great read and I enjoy Jewel’s writing style.

Sit comfy, wrap yourself with a warm and fuzzy blanket, and be prepared to be amazed by this emotional yet beautiful journey. From Air is one of those remarkable stories that broke and mended my heart while feeding my soul. It's everything I didn't know I needed, even if going blind. I trust Jewel E. Ann implicitly, and, as always, she delivered an unforgettable story that shocked the system.
I love Jamie's take on life, even under dire circumstances. I also understand Fitz's need to keep control and everyone at bay. Jamie is the sunshine to Fitz's grumpiness. It's impossible not to be invested in their story. They aren't looking for love, nor "want" to need the other. But they are each other's person and share an undeniable and intense connection.
This book is an experience. I devoured it in a day while holding my breath and laughing out loud. It's filled with meaning and nuggets of wisdom about grief, healing, love, and found family. And it is all interwoven with the most spectacular banter. A top 2024 read.
