So. Yesterday evening I decided to take a break from my current read and scroll through NetGalley to see if anything new and interesting was posted. And I came cross this book. I saw the cover before I actually read both the title and the synopsis. It took me about 2 minutes to pull my eyes away from this cover (that is how much REALLY loved it) and I was finally motivated to read the synopsis. The synopsis plus the “read now” button is what motivated me to start reading this last into the night.
Unfortunately, I was only able to read up to page 20 (and there are only 71 pages). This felt so hard to read. I don’t know if it the format of this book or the main character, Winter Elise Diamond, but I just couldn’t move on the next page. The more I think about it, the more I think it’s the main character. Winter was a really hard character for me to connect with. She claims to be in High School but her narrative reads more of a middle schooler. And I quickly got uncomfortable with her constant focus on Zacharias Coronado. This is more of a it’s just me looking for something that I can enjoy and not the book. But, I know there are people who will come across this and discover what works for them.
Best of luck to B.T. Gottfred and all his future endeavors!!!
Side Note: Any book that I DNF automatically receives a 1 star.
Thank you NetGalley and B.T. Gottfred for granting my request for an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book in exchange for my honest and personal opinion!!!

The plot line and idea are great, the execution is not so great. While I believe that this has lots of potential, the writing is choppy. This is a very short “book one” but seems like it is more of a summary. While I would love to see this as a more developed book, I don’t think I will continue reading it, unless it had major rewrites.
