Thoughts:
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is an amazing little book, it contains a lot of great ideas to help children work their way through their own grief and the adults around them understand how grief is affecting them. There is also a lot in the back of the book to help with the activities such as paper bag pinata and poetry scramble words which is a great help since it's easy for our minds to go blank when put on the spot.

"You may feel sad, lonely, hurt, angry, worried, happy, or upset. All of those emotions are part of grief, and all of them are welcome. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and you will experience your own unique grief journey."

I received a free copy of, My Grief Comfort Book, by Brie Overton, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Grief is never easy, and can seem never ending, but this book has activities for kids to help them get through their grief, like a scream box and smash your anger. I wish they had this book when I was a kid, this is an amazing book on dealing with grief.

This book is filled with great activities to help anyone dealing with loss especially young kids. Along side each activity is a beautiful illustration with an affirmation focused on the feeling of grief being addressed through the activity. There are well designed printouts with suggestions and blank space to help any one get started but also allowing room for free personal expression.

I love everything about this book! I got it for my 5 year old who lost her grandma (my mother) 1 year ago. She keeps asking about her every other day and these activities really helped her work through what she feels inside and it helped her realise and appreciate a lot of things. Highly recommend!

I loved going through this book with my younger sister after we recently lost two close relatives. I feel that she related to the workbook and that she found comfort in it. Thankyou Brie Overton for making an impossible situation slightly easier.

My Grief Comfort Book is a non-fiction book about grief that allows children the safe space to explore their emotions.
Bereavement is difficult for everyone, and for children, the first few times they experience grief can be extra difficult.
This book, coupled with soothing and relatable pictures, offers prompts, tips, activities and understanding for children (and adults) experiencing loss.
I am not qualified to offer any remarks about the scientific-quality of the advice offered however, based on my personal and professional experiences, this is a suitable, and lovely book that encourages children to process their grief. The colour palette and the font types are lovely.
