Thank you so much for my early review audiobook. I really enjoyed this romance on audio and would recommend it in this format!
Thank you for granting me early an arc copy of Textbook Romance. I loved the book and characters so much. Such a sweet (and spicy) book. Right up my alley!
I think Kristen Bailey is very under-rated. I've read several of her books and have enjoyed them all. She's able to write characters with depth and storylines that haven't been overdone. There is a feeling of originality and freshness to her books.
Textbook Romance was an age gap with a different twist. Zoe and Jack meet at a wedding on a night that is one of Zoe's worst. When she sees him again the next time, it's when he starts working for her school as a supply teacher. From there, their friendship blossoms into more. But their worlds are different. Zoe is a newly single mom who is trying to balance raising her two children in a world that has been turned upside down. Meanwhile, Jack is younger and trying to decide what his next step in life will be. But they have one important thing in common - - they fall in love.
I would have liked a little more solid ending - - although I can also appreciate the way the author chose to end it.
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: As always with this author's books, I found the audiobook for Textbook Romance to be quite good. The narration really helped me feel pulled into the story. 4 stars
Thank you to NetGalley for early copies of both the ebook and audiobook. I voluntarily chose to read/listen to them and review them and the opinions contained within are my own.
I absolutely loved this book!! Older woman, younger guy who adores her. Woman is divorced with kids, guy is totally ok with it. There is some steam, but it is mostly closed door. I really, really loved this book!!! I can’t wait to read more by this author!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select/Storm Publishing for an advanced listen copy of this audio book! Textbook Romance, written by Kristen Bailey and edited by Abigail Hardiman is the perfect "Back to School" read or listen for the fall.

Y'all, can you believe it? I posted a review ON PUB Day. I need to write this down and play the lotto 🤣🤣!
I loved the older woman younger man trope. If it isn't one it should be! Jack was so patient with Zoe while she was going through her seperation/divorce and all the emotions that went along with it. I loved the grand gesture at the end!! I love grand gestures in general.
This would be a great book to take the beach. I know summer is about half over. Heck, I know some kids go back to school on August 1!! If you need a last minute beach read l highly suggest looking into this book!
Last but not least, Abigail Hardiman did a great job as the narrator!
While this one resonated with me because she was older than him, it was just okay. I didnt like that she felt so much Shane about being with a younger man. I think that’s a very antiquated view of it and not often the way people see things like this anymore. I honestly could have saw him being more uncomfortable because of the kids that are added into the mix. Ultimately, she came around but only because he was just so so wonderful to her.
older woman younger man after finding out her husband cheated and jack witness her epic failure and then see him again and working together Zoe has an attraction to him. its a right person wrong time and different path in there life. Zoe navigating life with her kids and Jack living his life after putting on hold because he was helping his brother after his wife dead
The only thing iis narrated by one person. i just needed the male narrator.
4.5 stars
I´ve enjoyed Kristen Bailey´s writing before (Five Gold Rings - 4 stars), so I was super excited to start this.
Age gap isn´t something I normaly read - and those where the woman is older are rare in generall - so I was blown away with how much joy this gave me.
I loved the budding relationship of the two MC. I loved the friendship that they form in the beginning and the fact that the age gap isn´t really an issue at all.
I just know that Bailey will become an auto-buy author for me.
Highly recommend!
This book was so much fun and so funny. I love romances involving teachers. The age gap was great, and I loved that she was older. I was confused that the book is dual POV, but there was only one female narrator. It was off putting when I listened to it.
Another brilliant book from Kristen Bailey, who is fast becoming one of my favourite romance writers.
The story opens with Jack and Zoe, who meet moments before Zoe’s world implodes. When there paths collide again weeks later, the spark is still there…but is there room in all the chaos for them to explore it?
I couldn’t put this audiobook down from the first minute to the last. I loved how the dual narratives gave a full 360 view of their relationship. Textbook Romance had all the heat and humour I enjoyed in Sex Ed and it was such a treat to be reunited with some of the characters from that book. The ending is beautiful and apt. All in all, listening to this book made me happy whenever I played it. I actually feel I could listen to 100 books in this setting, written by this author and never get bored. The choice of narrator really complimented the book. I thought they did a brilliant job
in getting you engaged with the story and bringing life to the characters.
Thank you for the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to review an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest revie
This was such a fun rom-com. I loved the school setting and the single parent aspect. The narrator was also great.
Textbook Romance is an enjoyable read about a teacher whose marriage is flipped upside down, and a younger guy who helps her overcome it all. It's hilarious at times and emotional at others. The way Kristen writes blends those emotions perfectly.
Thank you Netgalley for an arc of Kristen Bailey's Textbook Romance
Zoe just discovered her husband has been cheating on her…with her friend! Needless to say, she is devastated and having a hard time. Enter Jack! Jack and Zoe hit it off from the very start.
Jack is a great character! He is strong and steady and he knows just what Zoe needs and when she needs it. He sees her struggling with life and kids!
Then there is Zoe! She did not deserve the hand dealt to her. But she comes into her own.
I enjoyed these two together and their banter is just adorable! There are several places that I laughed out loud!
The narrator, Abigail Hardiman, is cute as a button! And she even did the children well!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.
First I would like to thank Dreamscape Select for providing a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
This is the story of Zoe and Jack two people who meet at a friend's wedding on the night Zoe's life completely changes, she finds out her husband has been cheating on her. After that night Zoe was sure she would never see Jack again until he shows up at her school to be a permanent substitute. As Zoe adapts to her new life as a single person co-parenting her two teenagers she continues to be drawn to the much younger Jack. Zoe and Jack spend more time together and they connect but continue to question if they are right for each other with the age gap and life experiences.
What I Liked:
- Age, I love this is the story of a older woman with a younger man since so many books are the other way around
- School, Jack and Zoe reconnect at the school they are both teaching at and I love that one of the first things Jack notices about Zoe is her ability to connect with her students
- Zoe's kids, they are put in a horrible situation with their dad cheating and do a great job at making their feelings known to him and support their mom
- Jack, I would love to meet a man like Jack he is attractive, stepped up when his brother needed him and makes Zoe feel wanted and comfortable in every situation
- Audiobook quality, such an enjoyable listen as the narrator did a great job with the different characters and I just kept finding things to do to keep listening
I really did enjoy this book, it was an easy read and I didn't want it to end. I'm a sucker for books with teachers/teaching involved since deep down that is my true passion and this book does a great job with reflecting the life of a teacher with the added bonus of the older woman getting the hot younger man. If you are looking for an easy read that deals with real issues but in the end you feel good reading it then please check this book out.
As a teacher myself, I always love reading stories of teachers as the main characters. I found this story to be hilarious and realistic. It didn't have the characters doing things that made me smack my head. I thought they were quite lovable.
Listening to the narration was just a bit confusing at times because it is the same voice, so it was hard to tell when the character changed. I wish Jack would have been read in a different voice.
Thank you to Netgalley, Kristen Bailey and Dreamscape Select for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Good audiobook with a strong narrator. The book is about a teacher who meets a younger man at a wedding. Her life is then upended when she finds out her husband is cheating on her. And the younger man becomes a teacher at her school. I enjoyed the character growth and strong supporting cast.
When Zoe, a math teacher, is betrayed by her husband, a younger man named Jack, whom she’s just met, swoops in to help her. Over the next few months, these two co-workers learn more about each other and their families. Textbook Romance by Kristen Bailey is a cute, quick beach read. I really loved the teacher vibe the book gives, along with the will-they-won’t-they tension throughout. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
I cannot count the amount of times I laughed out loud because of this book. I also shed a few tears, got extremely angry, got well hungry for Nando's and looked at paperclips in a new light!
Kristen Bailey writes in such a smooth, flowing way and really gets into each character so well that I feel I know them all. I have multiple new kids, super siblings, hilarious and cake loving colleagues, evil exes and a hot new relationship... Thanks Kristen!
I really like the way that the rom-com cliches are not at home in this book. No big misunderstandings leading to break ups, no jealous exes laying traps for the lovers to argue over and no kids plotting against new partners. There were issues of age, however, plenty of communication and a really respectful understanding that kids will always come first.
Kristen is THE ultimate rom-com queen and the modern take she puts on things, including the slang, meaning of emoji's and the multiple different words for parts of anatomy that cropped up, really educated me. The thing that impressed me most though, was how a fictional school was actually pretty accurately represented. The scenes of mobs of boys charging through the school took me way back, and then there was the fact that she knew schools run on coffee and cake...
I also have to put a LOT of love out there for the narrator, Abigail Hardiman, who did an outstanding job. Males and females of various ages were represented so differently that you never had trouble distinguishing the characters from each other. The accents were also spot on. The comedic timing helped enhance the humorous book to no end. The people who could see me on my daily commute must have thought I was bonkers!
I loved this book so much I have already bought myself a copy. 5 stars from me and cannot wait for the next one!
My big thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing and Kristen Bailey for the opportunity to read the book. All opinions expressed are my own.
