To say I was gripped from the beginning would be an understatement.
Carolina is an ex Baltimore cop living back in her small town after being shot in the line of duty.
There were a string of murders when she was a teenager, she’s not been back for long and they seem to have started back up again, can she help catch the killer or will her own demons get in the way?
I listened to this in nearly one sitting but ran out of hours in the day (and nearly the night!), plenty of action, plenty of intrigue and a satisfying ending. Highly recommend!
Good narrator

The narration was superb, but the material subpar. Fans of thriller crime novels might like this one, but I was expecting more. Everything was predictable. Nothing was original ... except perhaps the rather modern addiction gripping our heroine. And we have yet another nasty implementation of mental illness for murder. The detective work was also beneath the purported experience of the cast. The most gripping parts had to do with hints and small tipping points about the lead's little problem getting away from her. I'm also not surprised that his was written by (two!) men. How women are described, especially in relation to each other, was cringe. Just goes to show that quantity doesn't equal quality.

Carolina has returned to her small home town in WV as a former cop who got injured on the job.
She is living in her van in her mom's driveway when she takes on the investigation into the murders of 3 college girls that happened when she was 15. While that may seem odd, another murdered girl, 20 years later, has turned up.

This is a great start to a new series that I think will improve with each installment. I enjoyed the story, setting and characters. There were a few twists along the way that added depth. Overall a great suspenseful mystery!

The only thing I can think to say about this book is... It's ok.
I didn't really love the plot, but it was written well enough to make me want to see the ending.
Not a bad twist at the end, but honestly not super memorable
