2.5 stars. Hate Hex follows a witch named Trixie who is trying to suppress her magic. It's getting harder to do this as she nears her thirtieth birthday. Her landlord Dominic is a powerful vampire who she dislikes since he is selling the apartment building and she has to move. Once they start truly interacting with each other after they are both nominated for an elected position, they begin to realize they like each other. Unfortunately, Dominic's murderous brother and otherworldly politics can't stop getting in Trixie and Dominic's way.

Hate Hex had some entertaining parts to it but I did not feel that it was original. I didn't find myself getting invested in the characters or their relationship. I feel the love part was really rushed. Overall, it was still a fun, quick read.

Hate Hex is a quick, totally predictable just like Hallmark Christmas movies (but we still love them), enemies to lovers rom-com! FMC is a magically repressed witch and MMC is a vampire. The relationship would be considered instalove (on his side) but there is a reason for that explained which I appreciated. The pacing was a little off to me as it was building and building and then everything happened in the last 20 (ebook) pages. Still 100% enjoyable.

Hate Hex is a cutesy, fluff filled paranormal romance. For lovers of enemies to lovers and fast paced romance then this is for you. However, I’m not a massive fan of insta love and even though it was explained away it still just didn’t do it for me.

I wish there had been more of a slow burn so we got more moments with the characters. The problem with the instant love is that you don’t get those moments of tension and longing, you don’t get to feel a deeper connection with the relationship as it happens in the blink of an eye. One moment they have just met and the next they are getting together. It just doesn’t hit the spot for me unfortunately.

However, that being said I did enjoy the small moments of banter between the love interests and the friendship between Trixie and Emmy. I just wish the book had been a little bit longer so that the relationship could happen a bit more naturally.

Trixie is a rideshare driver & also a witch. However, she has repressed her powers due to childhood trauma. She meets rich & powerful vampire Dom one night outside her building, which Dom owns. They instantly love/hate each other. Both are nominated for an open spot ona magical council and the sparks fly.

This was a very tame book. Pretty formulaic, but an easy read and the author is a good writer. Would just have liked more action/development.

For someone that doesn’t usually read paranormal, Hate Hex was actually quite the surprise, I really enjoyed it! I was pretty much hooked from the first page. I thought the characters were good and it flowed pretty well.

If you want a cute, funny paranormal read, then this is perfect for this spooky season and I would definitely recommend it!

I love a paranormal romance so this really excited me and it felt like a lot of fun whilst reading, cute read overall.

It’s the classic grumpy boy meets happy girl. Trixie is part happy girl part emotionally traumatized witch. I enjoyed the duel POV of getting both of their reactions to each other. This is a very cute fun super natural book to get you in fall spirit. I enjoyed Trixie and Emmy as characters and Dom was the perfect grumpy but soft for her only boi. I did feel the ending was a little rushed. While I acknowledge that a time period was attached to show movement of time it still felt like the author felt the need to throw the proposal in there to show that the characters had a “happy ending” and to please those who would only see a marriage proposal as a success in the book. I felt like it could have been left out as it mostly felt like a rushed footnote that the author felt she had to add.

It’s first person, dual POV, closed door.

Trixie is a taxi driver. She’s also a witch living in a rent controlled apartment in the secret magical section of NYC. Dominic is a grumpy billionaire vampire and owns the building. He’s trying to sell, and Trixie is rightfully mad about the coming eviction. She decides to hate hex him for a few hours so he can see how regular people live. He, of course, retaliates.

Meanwhile, the committee that oversees the magical community needs a new member. Trixie and Dominic both get nominated by The Fates. Neither want the job. This B plot kind of gets forgotten for most of the book, but had potential.

Throw Dominic’s dangerous and angry vampire brother into the mix, and we’ve got a fast paced chaotic read. It felt like it was missing something for me, but overall was a fun time.

This is an adorable, (mostly) stress-free paranormal romance!

Reluctant witch Trixie and wealthy vampire Dominic make quite the pair- from meeting and immediately getting off the wrong foot, to both their names coming out of a very goblet of fire-esque chalice forcing them into running for a special paranormal election against each other, to a hex contest, and so much more! The stakes were pretty low and it was a cute connection between the two, a good early fall read for sure!

I love a cute paranormal romance, but honestly, I was bored. It started off pretty good and then just kind of slumped. I couldn't really connect with the characters, and it just seemed so silly. It's closed door spice, and that's not really my cup of tea either. Enemies to instant love...meh. I love witches and vampires, so I wanted so much more from this.

Quick fluffy read with an interesting setting. Practically too quick, sadly. I felt like most of the romantic development happened off the page and I just didn’t care much at all.

This was really really cute. I enjoyed how Trixie and Dom went from bickering and threatening and pranking each other to a couple, and the magical and paranormal added a lot of fun to their story. The mystery around Dom's brother was an interesting storyline, although a bit predictable, but I did love the way it got resolved, which was a true surprise. The only thing I did wish for, was to have a bit more context and details on The Circle and The Veil. They were constantly mentioned but barely any explanation on what they are, what they do, how they work... It just felt like an important piece of the story was barely touched upon and would have needed to be built up a bit more. However, I still had lots of fun reading this story and that's what matter.

I’m not really sure why this is considered enemies to lovers because it was insta-love if I’ve ever seen it. Hate Hex is perfect for someone looking a really quick and simple paranormal read. Personally, I prefer a more fleshed out story.

This was a fun paranormal spooky romance! I loved the banter and tension between the MCs. Their hex war was so fun!

This is a short and sweet magical realism romance - the perfect book to read in the fall, or to get you in the mood for cozy season.

It was pretty short, so the story wasn’t super in depth - but there was just enough conflict and tension to make it hard to set the book down.

The story was set in the charming ‘sixth borough’, a magical part of NYC. The author apparently has a whole series set here, but this was the only I’ve read - and it definitely easily stands alone!

This was a pretty simple book, but I would wholeheartedly recommend giving it a shot for anyone who likes magical romance, needs a palette cleanser, or just wants to read a cozy love story between a fated witch and vampire.

About a witch living in a glamoured area of New York (instantly had me thinking of the video game

who is suppressing her powers. She's dealing with some inevitable issue because of her age and how long her powers have been suppressed, according to her witch grandmother who she's only known since she was 18.
Trixie has a quirky witch roommate in the building that is owned by a vampire. This vampire and Trixie have some weird chemistry off the rip, but that goes down the drain when he decides to sell the apartment building he owns (and that Trixie lives in). She's rightfully upset, so uses a small hex to get him to "understand" how little annoying things in his apartment breaking is equal to her hardships as a low income single lady living in a rent controlled apartment that's been in her family for generations.
The Vampire, Dominic, hexes her back and it starts a little feud between the two. They can't stand each other but have a magnetic attraction.

I won't spoil much else because it truly gets really good and I couldn't put the book down.
I got REALLY into the story so much that I flew through the book in a night and feel like I forgot most everything else anyway.

Like I said, cute and fluffy. The banter, emotion, and character growth that they experience together is pretty wholesome. Once they're in it, they're IN it.
No spice, it's all cute and then fade to black (or closed door? I'm not sure the wording.)
Ate this book up in a single night thanks to how invested I was in the story.

I read "Hate Hex" in a single day when I was sick, and it was the kind of book that was great for that purpose. It was quick, the plot kept me interested and engaged, and I cared enough about the characters to keep reading. I wouldn't say I thought it was great, but I would definitely say it served its purpose and I'm appreciative of that.

Overall, I enjoyed the concept of the world the book takes place in, and wish we got to explore more elements of it a little more fully. It didn't feel like any of the elements were super fleshed out, which was fine, but there was a lot that was thrown out there that wasn't ever fully explored. The plot mainly served as a vehicle for the romance more than anything else, but I don't think I came to this book expecting it to be too plot-forward.

I liked both of the characters and appreciated that the book was dual-POV. This was very much insta-love, but I still felt like there was a good amount of tension building (often I think the issue with insta-love is going from 0 to 100). However, I wouldn't say the development of the relationship felt all that consistent, there were definitely some weird jumps in feelings. I hate to say this, because I definitely don't think every book needs to have spice, but I think I would have rated this one higher had it been open door.

A romance with a sprinkle of magic. This was an easy read. It flowed really well. The romance was nice. The hexing was nice. The magic was nice. But it was just that for me. Nice. 
 
A little lackluster in some areas: the enemies to lovers back and forth, the fun magic. I would have liked scenes of them staying up all night. It was mentioned, but you didn’t get the feel of their relationship forming from it. 
 
There was a slow burn, but no smutty spice. Very mild. That doesn’t bother me, just FYI.
