As an adult who still gets starry-eyed about space, I was delighted to discover this engaging activity book that makes learning about the cosmos both fun and accessible. The format brilliantly balances educational content with over 100 varied activities that keep young minds engaged without feeling overwhelmed.
What really stands out is the book's versatility - while it's perfectly pitched for the target age range of 6-10, I found myself genuinely enjoying some of the puzzles and challenges (and learning new facts along the way!). The activities range from simple dot-to-dots for younger readers to more complex code-breaking exercises that might have parents and older siblings joining in.
The factual content covers an impressive scope, from our home planet to the far reaches of space, presenting information in bite-sized, digestible chunks that spark curiosity rather than overwhelm. I particularly appreciated how the book balances familiar topics like planets and astronauts with more advanced concepts like supernovas and black holes.
As a gift, this book is a winner - it's educational without being dry, entertaining without being shallow, and offers hours of engagement through its varied activities. It's part of a series that clearly knows how to make learning fun, and this space-themed edition doesn't disappoint.
Perfect for rainy days, road trips, or any time you want to inspire a young mind to look up at the stars and wonder. A fantastic addition to any young scientist's library!
This was a great book to introduce the planets and solar systems to children. It combines facts with fun using interactive puzzles to reinforce the leaning lessons. Kids can learn without even realizing it!
Awesome book for 6 to 10 yr olds. It's engaging, informative and interactive. The puzzles are a good timepass for long drives. Kids will love the book as a gift
Obviously, this activity book definitely needs to be used and experienced in a paper format. It instantly made me think of those holiday workbooks we used to have as children to keep us busy and learning during the summer break. It looks very entertaining and informative for children fascinated by space, but also any adults keen to have some good old-fashioned fun.
A read for early space scientists, that learn through getting a pen in their hands and doing things on the page. They can range anywhere from word searches to join the dots to solving clues for a crossword. It's a good, light kind of homework for people learning the basics about the solar system, and the rest of the universe beyond, so even if we get some pages where we just colour in things, there is a lesson for a junior mind just around the corner. It might feel a touch too easy to complete – some bits are just 'trace over these slightly awkward words and be done' – but the worst thing would be someone put off the subject because of difficulty with an ill-placed sudoku, for example. Colourful enough (before our contributions) and easy on the eye, this is a good early science book. And there are, to assure people, no sudokus.
This is a fun book for kids with basic information about outer space with fun activities to help them learn more. I would recommend these books to the kids that like to learn through activities. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Reading this with my space loving little dude and he's enjoyed the games and puzzles and information that are included. They're a lot of fun, very interactive and super informative. It's definitely a book we're going to end up having in physical form.

My elementary school aged kids enjoyed this! They love space and loved reading all the fun facts and such
This is the perfect activity book for your outer space loving little ones! It's filled with great facts about all aspects of outer space and activities that are not only fun but will also help your children test their knowledge of what they have learned. The activities are also great for reading, writing and cognitive skills. This is definitely an activity book that I'll be adding to my collection for my own kids.
This is the type of book that is ideal in the print format and shared by family members - children of different ages - since the activities cater to different age groups.
The theme of the outer space and the fun facts about it are a great match for such a book. Overall, a good book to entertain the children or the whole family on the go.
This publication is a combination of non-fiction text and activity book. It is an activity book in the truest sense, with fill-ins and crossword puzzles. That makes it a poor choice for circulating at the library.
The idea is great - the activities force kids to take a break from reading and do something else, which might make them more likely to retain information. Many of the activities are very juvenile and would be better for more of a kindergarten age range. They're also a bit repetitive. And who wants to trace letters when they already know how to read?
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
