Who doesn't love a medical drama, if so then this is a book for you.

Its a slow burn romance but I loved reading it from first to last page.

The Jess and Kimberly story is great, with a few side characters as an added bonus.

Would I recommence: Yes and there are more to the series

The cover. Lol
The blurb:
Dr. Kimberly Donovanโ€™s life is in shambles. After her medical ethics are questioned, first her family, then her closeted lover, the Chief of the ER, betray her. Determined to make a fresh start, she flees to California and L.A. Metropolitan Hospital.
Dr. Jess McKenna, L.A. Metroโ€™s Chief of the ER, gives new meaning to the phrase emotionally guarded, but she has her reasons.
When Kim and Jess meet, the attraction is immediate. Emotions Jess has tried to repress for years surface. But her interest in Kim also stirs dark memories. They settle for friendship, determined not to repeat past mistakes, but secretly they both wish things could be different.
Will the demons from Jessโ€™s past destroy their future before it can even get started? Or will L.A. Metro be a place to not only heal the sick, but to mend wounded hearts?

I'm giving it 2 stars as i didn't ENJOY it but it wasn't the worst book in history. It's a LGBTQIAP+ story but I just feel like it was so boring. I feel like it wasn't any different, it didn't stand out from other books with a similar plot.I also feel like it was very stereotypical.

One of the FMC has got a smug smirk on her face half the time, she touches the other woman without asking and she treats her like a helpless damsel in distress when she's the opposite. I feel like these traits can and may be seen as attractive in other stories but with this story I feel like it wasn't done well and instead of provoking positive feelings towards the characters and the book itself, it just made me feel uncomfortable 99% of the time.
However, I did finish it but in some ways wish I didn't as it didn't get any better by the end of the book.

I enjoyed this slow burn romance. I was afraid it was going to be insta love and almost didn't go through with reading it. The connection between the two was adorable.

Definitely recommend if you haven't read it already.

I have had mixed feelings about this book. Itโ€™s an example of how a decent idea could be made far less palatable just by the way the author writes. Many of the events and feelings could be very relatable, if only they had been described with better flow and not overexplained. The way the two MCs danced around each other was dragged out for far too long - again, something that could and probable has happened in real life but is just very very uninteresting.
I also found the homophobia a bit strange - I am very aware that it still exists, but such blatant examples of it being just shrugged off by the MCs is just not sitting right with me.

This was the first work I've read by RJ Nolan, but it likely won't be the last. I really enjoyed reading L.A. Metro. I was hesitant at first because there seemed to be instant attraction that I worried would translate to insta-love, but I was pleasantly surprised that was not the case. The relationship between Jess and Kim was a cute and satisfying slow burn. I also really liked Thor and Sam, they were great side characters and I would love to read Sam's book in the future. Overall 4.5/5 stars rounded up.

This book was originally published Sept 2011 and it ages fairly well. L.A. Metro is a slow burn medical romance and the first of three full length novels in a series. Dr. Kimberly Donovan begins a new job in the psychiatry department at L.A. Metro. One of her jobs is to be the liaison with the ER. Dr. Jess McKenna is the Chief of the ER and while professional she is aloof. Both doctors are good at their jobs and in helping the younger doctors at this teaching medical center. Kim is especially good at breaking down barriers Jess has and the pair become friends before moving on to more. They both have to battle sexism, gossip and bigotry on the job and Iโ€™d hope if it was written now that would happen a little less.

I enjoyed the romance and the medical scenes that are part of the story. Jess has some past issues that she has to overcome as well. Kim, because of her training, was especially patient giving Jess time to open up. I am new to the author and was excited to see another book in the series was available from my local library. I have already downloaded it and look forward to reading it. I received a digital copy of this book from Ylva Publishing via NetGalley and I am leaving an honest review. (4.5 Stars)

Canโ€™t believe I missed the first book in this series when they originally came out. Kim and Jess both have bad memories from their past that affects the past and potentially new relationships. Can they overcome these memories to have a chance at love?

would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this book

dr donovan was starting anew in L.aMetro and her task was to see what was going on between her department and the er.....

dr mckenna was chief in the ER and she had a reputation there.... one that sent people running if they didnt do their jobs....

as dr donovan tried to mend the rift between the two departments it became obvious that dr donovans style of work was what was needed in the ER and so began her new rotation in that department

but there were tough times ahead of them all .....

wow i have to admit i was gripped right to the end its a great feel good factor book loved the christmas scene....well who wouldnt

cant wait to read more from this author

Thoroughly enjoyable book!
LA Metro is a slow burn romance that takes the time to establish a solid friendship between Kim and Jess; their attraction is there from their first meeting but issues from their past prevent each of them from acting on it. It works well though since it allows them to slowly build trust and open up about past hurts in their personal and professional lives.
The fact they both work in a hospital provides the reality of an emergency occurring or pager going off at any time and gives an insight into their skills and personalities at work where the environment is fueled by gossip as much as trauma cases. There is drama both in and out of the hospital as is to be expected but the book is a light and easy read, a page-turner to watch the relationships progress and the secrets unveiled at a steady pace.
Supporting characters bring the opportunity for hospital politics, homophobia and other issues to enter into the story threads and they only enrich the overall story. Special mention goes to Thor who is the prime matchmaker for Kim and Jess, and who steals every scene heโ€™s in; heโ€™s a true gem!
This book is part of a series and I look forward to reading the others after thoroughly enjoying this one.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
