Thank you to Mad Cave Studios for this ARC via Netgalley in exchance for my honest review.
The best part of this graphic novel is the art, which is extremely interesting and fun. I wanted to read this graphic novel because the idea of a human-robot love story sounded intriguing, especially since the robot is barely humanoid. I was hoping to get a cute romance with some conflict. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no relationship development in any way between the robot and the love interest. Not only that, the love interest was barely a character. At the end I had no idea why the robot should be in love with her or what made her interesting at all.
I would love to read more graphic novels from this illustrator, and I feel like this graphic novel could have easily been a hit if it was longer and gave more space for the love story to blossom.

In this collected volume, JoJo, a robot taxi driver, embarks on a dangerous quest to find the love of his life when she goes missing. Can JoJo beat the mob and rescue Gilda?

My favourite part about this was the visual art style: it’s chaotically colourful and there was always something interesting to catch my eye. The writing is very simplistic, and while it is easy to differentiate between speakers, I thought Frida was too mean spirited compared to kind hearted JoJo (the cat does grow on you though). It’s a short graphic novel so I wasn’t expecting much detail, but the insta-love element wasn’t quite to my taste, and most characters were a bit two dimensional. However, the fast paced action sequences and the overall striking visual appeal made this a fun, quick read with a satisfying ending.

Pick this up for the art style alone because each page is very vivid.

Set in a futuristic New York City where robots have taken over various tasks, Love Me: A Romance Story is by far the love story we didn't know we needed. Written by Francesca Perillo and illustrated by Stefano Cardoselli, this miniseries is sure to tug at your heart strings.

New York City, sometime in the far future, where robots like JoJo have taken over the tasks humans no longer want to perform…like driving a taxi. JoJo is pretty happy with his lot in life but feels as though something is missing…then he meets Gilda and it’s love at first sight. But the course of true love is a bumpy one and JoJo is going to find that out firsthand when he discovers that Gilda is entangled with the mafia that runs his beloved city, and they're very much against this potential union for their own reasons. Watch out, JoJo!

While I really enjoyed Francesca Perillo's story, I really showed up for Stefano Cardoselli's artwork. The illustrations are nothing short of spectacular with somehow a chaotic and picturesque feel creating a unique visual experience that complements the story. Cardoselli's unique art style brings futuristic New York City to life in such an original way that really immerses us into the book.

As I dove into the pages of Love Me, I was quickly engrossed in JoJo's life. While the four-issue miniseries was a fast-paced story, the emotional depth of the characters shined through. They all face unexpected obstacles that added complexity to their relationship and depth to the overall story. We truly were kept on edge wondering what would happen next.

Perillo's writing captures the nuances of love and desire in this unique comic. The dialogue is witty and engaging giving us unique personalities and motivations. As I journeyed along with these characters I felt myself rooting for the love to conquer all obstacles.

Love Me: A Romance Story is a refreshing take on traditional romance comics, blending elements of sci-fi, and drama into a unique love story. Francesca Perillo and Stefano Cardoselli have created a truly memorable world filled with love, danger, and unexpected surprises around the corner.
