This story follows two young people who meet each other and fall in love over the summer but go into separate paths and later reconnect. This book is similar to what you see of a summer-themed book. I loved the story of this book and seeing the second-chance romance coming to life. The writing style was mostly great but I do have to say that it didn’t flow to my liking. I loved the concept of how it starts from when they were young and goes onto the story instead of time jumping back and forth. I enjoyed the dual povs and seeing the time lapse for the characters.
Jack meets Ellie while giving a tour and begins to enjoy her company right away. I loved seeing him fall for her and doing anything to get her love. He has a great character development in the book. Ellie starts off more as friends with Jack but begins to also fall in love with him. The only issue is that she comes from a wealthy family and wants to be a professor. I also enjoyed her story and seeing her get her career. There are many side characters in this story. At first I hated Ellie’s mom but I loved how the author explained why she did the things she did. The romance is friends to lovers and second chance.
The ending was well done and I don’t know if it’s considered a HEA. It’s beautifully written story but it did miss some marks. I know many would enjoy this heartfelt story but pay attention to the style it’s written.

I’ve started this review a few times because I’m not sure what to say. This is a well written story that was easy to follow. I was captivated. It’s hard to explain because there is no drama, no suspense…just a very realistic love story that not everyone is lucky enough to have. The reason for not 5 stars is because I didn’t feel as connected emotionally to the characters as I would have expected to be. Overall a really great book that I would absolutely recommend.
This was a sweet and beautiful love story. It gives me Nicholas Sparks vibes and I highly enjoyed going on this journey of the ups and downs of life. It brought me to tears, warmed my heart and enforced my belief in happily ever after.
This was so romantic and reminded me so much of the notebook! I felt right along with Ellie as she went through the book and realized it was her story.

Tropes: summer love, the one that got away, second chance, city girl/country boy, closed door
Keeper of the stars is a love story that spans the decades. Jack and Ellie meet during the summer of 1950, only to be pulled apart when fall arrives. Over a decade later, when Ellie is sent a copy of a book that tells their love story she begins to question what really happened.
This book is very sweet and romantic, and I’m a sucker for second chances. I loved how the book was broken up into seasons but still encompassed several years- that was clever. I did feel like the writing was choppy so I had a hard time really losing myself in the story but it was still very enjoyable and I would recommend this to fans of Nicholas Sparks books, or historical romances.
Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jack and Ellie have a long journey to get to their hea in this second chance trope romance by Buck Turner.
A young summer love fizzles out when Ellie heads back to her city life. Many years later, she comes back to the small town where Jack is. A few bad choices, a renewed friendship, a revitalized love story all turns into a romance forever after.
It's an emotional read but worth it.

The Keeper of Stars is one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read in quite some time. When I read the opening paragraph I knew it was going to be hard to put this book down. “They say our lives are written in the stars, that our fate is predetermined. But after the life I’ve lived, I believe that we are the authors of our own destiny …” Buck Turner’s writing flows seamlessly and is so descriptive that I never had to “imagine” what the characters were doing because I could clearly see it in my mind.
Jack and Ellie come from very different backgrounds, but as their summer romance of young love blooms they are determined to find a way to stay together. When forces beyond their control tear them apart, they must go on, but neither Jack nor Ellie will ever forget the love they shared. Years later, family matters bring Ellie back to the water's edge and back to Jack. Now an author, Jack gives her a copy of his book and when Ellie reads the dedication, “To the one who holds my destiny in her hands, my keeper of the stars” she knows that this is more than just another story. This is their love story.
There are so many things to say about this book, but I don’t like giving spoilers. Just know that you will laugh, you will cry, and your heart will never be the same. The last time I read a book like this was The Notebook, so if you like love stories that stand the test of time and give young love a second chance, then The Keeper of Stars is for you.
Thank you NetGalley, Page & Vine and Buck Turner for providing an ARC in exchange for honest thoughts.
“When it comes right down to it, it’s you I want, and I’d give up a thousand Saras for you.”
“ You were right all along. Our fate is not determined by the universe, but by us. We are the authors of our own destiny. And I thank God every day that he made you my keeper of stars.”
“You are my North Star, the one I chart my course by. You have been my rock during stormy times, and my co-pilot on this journey. Your belief in me, your constant encouragement, and your unfailing love have lifted me higher than any accolade ever could.”
What a beautiful book, I felt so many emotions along with the characters while learning about their journey. If you are a fan of Nicholas Sparks you’ll like this book. It even had me keeping up with quotes and I rarely do on a book. Though I just felt the words in my heart that is how powerful they were.
This book touched all the feels you didn't think could be touched. It was an amazing romance book that really hit home.
This was a beautiful story spanning the lives of a guy and a girl who fell in one one summer as teenagers. In this story, you get to see their character development as the years passed, dreams were chased, war was fought, hearts were broken, and ultimately, seeing if true love stands the test of time. This was a beautifully written story and a really enjoyable read. 🩵📚

Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of The Keeper of Stars, exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Buck Turner and NetGalley! This book was like a cold lemonade on a hot summer day. It gave you a little bit of sour that made you shiver just a little bit and then finished off with all the sweetness you could ask for. I was worried for a minute that this was going to be another book where a woman gives up her dreams but Buck writes a story that beautifully shows how we can have it all. Compromise, passion and undying love can make all things possible me.
I am usually a thriller/psychological thriller reader, and this book was like a breath of fresh air. I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up really enjoying this story.
I think that the character development was some of the best I have ever seen and that the storytelling was absolutely out of this world.
If you are looking for a book that will make you want to start reading a different genre, then this book is the book for you.
I am excitedly waiting to read more books by Buck Turner, as I have no doubt that he will knock them all out with a homerun!
This book was a pleasant surprise. It’s ben a minute since I’ve read a book like this one. It was truly a love story that touched my heart. The character development was fabulous and the storytelling was phenomenal. This is one that will tug on anyone’s heartstrings. A must read.
What an absolutely divine name to go with an absolutely divine book. I read a LOT of books and this is easily one of my favourites this year. We follow along with the ups and downs between Ellie and Jack who met one summer when Ellie came to a small town to stay with her aunt. Things keep happening to interfere with their relationship and it just seems as if the stars don’t line up. You’ll have to read it if you want to know how things work out and believe me, you won’t regret it. Just make sure you have a box of tissues nearby! Thank you so much to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Summary: Jack is an 18-year-old small-town teen who falls in love immediately with Ellie over the summer while she comes to visit her aunt before college. Jack teaches Ellie how to fish and she enjoys every minute. But suddenly her mother comes to pick her up early and her whole world comes crashing down when she has to face the reality of her mother's plans for her education and future earlier than expected. She leaves without saying goodbye to Jack. Will they find each other again and live out the romance of their dreams or will they drift and find other people?
What I Loved: I was drawn in by this book immediately because of the second chance trope. I think this is one of those books that can be successfully adapted into a drama movie and I would love to see it because Ellie and Jack’s story is very dramatic and full of twists. This book is full of that small-town charm you find in hallmark movies which made me love it even more. The two main characters in this book were tortured souls just because they could not be with whom they wanted in different parts of their lives and the fact that they were constantly thinking of each other over the years made me feel very human. I love to read steamy romances and this had very minimal spice scenes, but I completely loved it because the author kept it clean. If you love star-crossed lovers this book is for you.
Vibes: Dear John, The Notebook, Romeo & Juliet (except no one dies)

The Keeper of Stars is one of those special books that you enjoy reading so much that you don't want it to end. I fell in love with Ellie and Jack's story and kept hoping it would work out. Ellie and Jack met in the summer of 1950 and spent most of their time together. Jack was working that summer running a ferry on the lake while Ellie was being tutored in the mornings for math. Ellie went down to the lake and wanted to be on the water desperately. Jack saw her waving frantically as the ferry was about to leave. He let her come aboard even though they had sold all tickets. Ellie sat in the back with Jack and that's how their story started. After that they couldn't stand being apart from one another, but every summer comes to an end.
Ellie has lots of big dreams she wants to fulfill. She loves astronomy and wants to become a professor or work for NASA. She's going to Indiana University in the fall and can't wait to study the stars. Ellie comes from a wealthy family that doesn't struggle for anything, while Jack comes from a poor family and must help provide for his mom. Jack's Dad died when he was young and his mom works hard to keep food on the table. Jack helps a lot with the finances now and has saved a good bit of money for his dream house on the hill. Jack wants to stay in Tennessee by the lake and eventually start his own fishing charters. That's his dream until he meets Ellie.
When the summer ends, will Ellie and Jack's story end too? Will 2 people who seem so perfect for each other really go their separate ways? This book brought out every emotion I think I have. I was rooting for Ellie and Jack to reach their dreams, but have each other, too. Did it work out? Will true love find a way even after years apart? I rate The Keeper of Stars 5 stars with my very highest recommendation. This is the first book I've read by Buck Turner, but it won't be my last. I enjoyed every moment and will be reading more from him. The Keeper of Stars is available now and should not be missed! I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of The Keeper of Stars in exchange for a fair review. #TheKeeperOfStars
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A beautiful novel about the love of Jack & Ellie through the years (1950-2020). The dual POVs and the dual past/present timeline were perfect. This story has so many emotions and feelings. It definitely made me cry at times. I would have liked more of a conclusion at the ending.
The book follows the love and heartache of Ellie and JB. Both of from different backgrounds, both have big dreams as they grow older. A great story, read in one day,
I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
I absolutely loved this book!!!! It was a beautiful story that will have you ripping through the pages tearing at your emotions and then saying please don’t let this story end!
It’s been 12 years when Ellie receives a package in the mail. It is a book Jack wrote of their love story- and then- she finds a detail that changes everything! Grab this book!!!
When Dr. Elizabeth (Ellie) Spencer, Professor of Astronomy at Indiana University, receives a mysterious package in the mail, she finds a novel written by Jack Bennett, the man who captured her heart. She finds herself reflecting back twelve years ago to 1950, when she meets him whilst visiting her aunty. Falling madly in love, their romance was cut short by forces beyond their control. Returning to where they met becomes inevitable, when she hears the news of her aunt’s death. Ellie must finally face the truth about their time together and begin questioning what went wrong.
This was such a beautifully told story between two young people who find that events transpire against their romance. As Jack and Ellie reconnect, the author explores their feelings with depth and maturity. What could have been a superficial romance, instead plays out with both characters reflecting on what had happened to them with honesty. The quote by Anais Nin, highlights the beautifully told romance with “You don’t find love. It finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate and what’s written in the stars.”
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
