I received this book from NetGalley.
It's a bit slow going if I'm honest. Everything goes along pretty slowly and then boom, Evan dies. It came out of nowhere for me. For Holly to not tell Hope that Evan died - that was unacceptable for me. She can't just keep it in. I understand that she's also grieving, but when she says that her child mentions him...how can you not say anything?! And then she flat out lies to her child.
I'm so glad that Ben has a brain, and a heart, and gives Holly an ultimatum about telling Hope.
I noticed a few editing errors which was a little annoying.
The family poem that Holly reads is quite beautiful, very sad.
Honestly, my bad because I didn't read the blurb before so I thought this book would be sweet, and not sad. However, the name and cover suggested the same. Overall a nice book, but Holly was a bit annoying at times.
I reached for this thinking it was a festivevread to ease me into operation Christmas. How wrong I was. I've not read any of the previous books in this series but that didn't spoil the experience for me. Overall an enjoyable but heartwrenching book. Tissues needed!
Snowflakes over the Second Chances Sweet Shop (a.k.a. Snowflakes over the Cotswolds Candy Store) is book seven in the Holly Berry Sweet Shop series.
I had read one or two of the series before reading this book but having skipped a few did not spoil my enjoyment of this book at all. The storyline brings a huge change in Holly's relationship with Evan therefore bringing a serious undertone to this seemingly lighthearted story. Hannah Lynn handled this challenge sensitively and the story was both heartwarming and emotional.
Without giving away any spoilers I recommend this book wholeheartedly!
Oh my, Snowflakes Over the Second Chances Sweet Shop by Hannah Lynn was such a tearjerker for me, definitely needed the tissues, I sobbed. However, I just adored this book and could not put it down. I just was not expecting it to happen I fully thought Holly would get her happy ever after but it was not to be and tragedy strikes. This book will stay with me for a long time I just loved it.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Yet another great character storyline. One that was a little bit more hard hitting than some of her others which had me dabbing my eyes a few times. Holly is finally living the life she dreamed of and was excited when Evan planned a weekend away for the two of them with some help from the sweet shop crew and Holly’s parents of course. But then tragedy sticks and Holly’s life as she knows it is shattered.
I don’t think there is a way to review this book without it becoming too spoilery so will leave it at this.
What a beautiful read this was! Hannah Lynn has a delightful way with words that had me immersed entirely in the world in which she created in my mind. Wonderful.
Wow, I certainly wasn’t expecting a read that would pack so much punch. I had an inkling this was a bit of a sadder story compared to the rest of the series, but I definitely was not prepared for this story. Hannah Lynn, you have broken my heart with this read and I cannot wait until the next (and final) book is released. I need to know that everything is going to be ok with my favourite sweet shop owner.
I did think this was going to be a Christmas book but, fear not fans, it is just full of snow, thanks to the snowy Seattle setting. Whilst it is referenced a couple of times, you don’t get full-on tinsel vibes in this book, which I think makes it a good early winter read. Especially if you have read the other books in the series (which I think is essential by now).
Holly finds herself in Seattle, getting to know Evan’s family. There are a lot of characters to place but I enjoyed how this story moves beyond the cute Cotswolds setting, offering something rather different to the narrative. Not only do we see the snow drifts in full, but also the interactions between Evan’s siblings – especially his hard-nosed triplet sister, Erin. I definitely would not want to cross paths with her!
Without giving away too much of the plot, I really sympathised with Holly and her daughter. All plans have changed for Holly and the unrest and lack of certainty completely rocks her world. Holly finds strength in her daughter and I loved seeing the close mother-daughter bond that they have.
There are also a few familiar faces in this story in the form of Ben and Giles. I was definitely expecting the latter to make an appearance and wonder what is in store for him next. Furthermore, with best friend Jamie expecting her new baby any day, I am hoping that Lynn provides a heart-warming, happy ending for Holly once and for all.
In my opinion, this series keeps getting stronger and the writer continues to surprise readers with different stories each time. I have enjoyed seeing Holly grow as a character and will feel bereft when the series is completed. A lovely series, it is one you should read in order and save this one for when you have a strong constitution!
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
well were do you start with this book for one a box of tissues by your side as you read this short life between holly and evan it starts off so well between them a life of full fillment with their daughter hope and the sweetshop but in the flash of a moment tragedy happens in the lakes just when evan was going to propose and this now turns hollys life into turmoil a good book to read but very tearful
Snowflakes Over The Second Chances Sweet Shop by Hannah Lynn ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Part of a series and I will now go back and read the rest.
A very emotional Christmas novel . Still get the warm and fuzzy feelings that a you expect from a Christmas story but made me tear a few times.
Wondering if there will be another book in the series. I guess we all wait and see.
A sad but also lovely book in this series. Plenty of festive feelings throughout this book but at times it was a sad read. I do love these books set around a sweetshop and hope for more in the future. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc!!
This book was so cute, gave me all the warm and fuzzies!!
I will definitely be on the lookout for more by this author!
Book seven in the Holly Berry series
An emotional read but still a good read
Can’t wait for the next in this series
Thanks NetGalley
After reading all the other books in this series I was so looking forward to this chapter.
However why oh why did you have to spoil it. I will not say why you will have to read it but could we please not of had a happy ending. How much bad luck does one person have to entail.
I loved the story but it was so sad

Holly and her partner Evan are taking a much needed break from the sweetshop that Holly runs in an idyllic location in the Cotswolds. Evan has found a lovely cottage in the Lake District with all the home comforts and more for Holly. Holly's daughter Hope is being looked after by Holly's mum so Holly feels like she is going to have a relaxing holiday. But things sometimes happen suddenly and after what happened so quickly to Evan, Holly couldn't take it in. One minute he is being a good samaritan rescuing a teenage boy who had been playing on the waters edge, but the weather was terrible, bad snow and ice, the boy walked out and the ice broke, Evan wasted no time in going out on the ice and rescuing him. He managed to save the lad but lost his own life in the process.
The grief takes over Holly's life and after returning to America with Evans mum, she then has to deal with all of Evans family, some take her into their family easily but one person blames Holly for Evans death and Holly finds this extremely difficult to cope with. As Evan was a triplet his two sisters find it extremely hard and don't really want Holly there intruding on their grief.
Set in the lead up to Christmas when normally everyone has celebrations on their minds but this is definitely not the case with Holly and her extended family.
Yes this book is very good, very readable but it is also so very, very sad. You will definitely need tissues at the ready when reading it.
A lovely festive book continuing the Second Chances Sweet Shop series, which has been wonderful. This is a truly magical book, set in the festive season.
When I started this one I didn’t realise it was part of a series. Others have said it can be read as a stand alone, however I just felt that I was missing something, it was clear the characters had been met before and you should already be familiar with them.
Had I have read the other books first I’m sure my first impressions would have been better, so this is certainly not a fault with the book (although I do wish series were clearly labelled on the covers).
It was certainly a heart breaking read so have the tissues at the ready! I think the cover alludes to a Christmas romance book but it certainly isn’t that. It’s very moving and tragic. A story of friends and family coming together for support.
I think I would revisit this one, once I had read the other books in this series, however it wasn’t the story I was hoping for.
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening ? Down the lane, snow is glistening, a beautiful sight, I’m happy tonight, reading in a Winter Wonderland. Or close enough with the weather we’ve been having lately, felt like autumn since July in the UK so it must be about time for Christmas. All joking aside, because I wanted to start this review with light heartedness because I’ve been sobbing into my pillow, tissues, anything I could find whilst reading this beautiful story.
Snowflakes over the second chances sweet shop is such a wonderful, moving and ultimately uplifting read for the season, one you will devour over autumn or winter, but bring boxes of tissues and I mean boxes, not singular, it will also devour you and leave you cursing Hannah Lynn for all the emotions she has wrung out of you, it’s a beautiful read, it’s just not an easy one emotionally speaking, I wanted to stop so much because I was aching for the characters, but it’s so hard to put down despite the heartache, but I guess that’s Hannah’s skilful storytelling, she makes me glad to suffer, breaks me down and puts me together again !
As I say overall, it’s an uplifting story, one about family, love being forever, but I can’t really go into explaining why without spoilers. This book to me can’t be read as a stand-alone as it’s part of a series and you do need to have read previous books. But if you are looking to really feel a book, this is one you will 100% make you feel !
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Make sure you have tissues at the ready for this moving read-
They certainly proved to be something that I need!
Such a traumatic story, emotive and heart wrenching too
As you discover all that Holly has to go through.
A story filled with love, family and more
With characters who you can’t help but adore.
However this isn’t a story that is a light relief
As different people endeavour to cope with grief.
I hope there’ll be a sequel to this story soon, too,
I need to know what happens and what Holly will do.
The story has characters who feel like friends
I want to know what’s next after this story ends!
For my copy of this book I say thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.
Such a great read! Highly recommend this one.
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for Snowflakes Over The Second Chances Sweet Shop' by Hannah Lynn.
Yet another absolute stunner from this absolutely amazing author!!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly. It is the seventh book in Hannah's 'The Holly Berry Sweet Shop' but can be read as a standalone as can the previous six books. I would however recommend that you do read them in order as you get a bigger picture of the characters and relationships.
Well, you may have noticed I have started reading festive books regular and very early considering it is only September but it doesn't matter if you are the type who doesn't want to hear the word Christmas until the day or whether you have already started thinking about getting the decorations down because regardless of how you feel about Christmas you will absolutely LOVE this adorable story!! However be warned there are some very sensitive and heart-breaking moments. i would normally add specific warnings for the trigger but by doing so in this book may spoil the storyline so just be wary.
I fell in love with the characters and just everything in the first book I read by Hannah which was 'Sunny Days At The Second Chances Sweet Shop' and have loved each and every book that I have read in this beautiful series ever since!! I must admit I am always a bit dubious about how on Earth Hannah could make another book just as gorgeous as the previous one but she most definitely does each and every single time!! Jesus Hannah what the actual!!! I mean seriously?? I absolutely love you and love your books and love this series but by God I have lost count how many packs of tissues I have gone through in this book!! I don't think I had even got a quarter of the way through when I had gone through every single emotion on this extremely twisty rollercoaster ride of emotions!!! If you have read any books in this series please be warned that although I absolutely loved there is an absolutely tragic, heart-breaking and emotional event that made me ball my eyes out!! I only usually ever cry with books and films when it comes to an animal dying but that was not the case here and I was absolutely flooding my kindle to the point where I am shocked it still works it was so coated in tears!! However, it is not all sadness and darkness as the storyline is also filled with love, family, friendship, support and just so much more. i mean words are not enough to describe the beauty in the books in this series so I would just say do not bother reading any more and just go and grab a copy now. I can promise that you will not regret it but I also promise that you will be cursing Hannah when you understand what I have mentioned above. In this stunner, apart from certain events, what I can say is that Hannah will fly you to America where you will get to meet Evan's family who are all (except one) absolutely amazing, warm and welcoming and I absolutely adored, and when your not crying will make you smile and filled with warmth and love. Although this is the seventh book in this stunning series what I can promise you, whether you start with this book or the first book in this absolutely gorgeous series is that you will not be disappointed!! Hannah is one of those amazing, incredible and talented authors that can write book after book featuring the same characters and I will never get bored, especially as they have now come to feel like friends. The only negative thing I can say is that apart from them living on in my mind and the story coming to life when I read it is that these fantastic characters only actually live on paper as I am devastated every time I have to say Goodbye to them!! Sadly, the next book which comes out on the 1st April 2025 but is available to preorder now is the last book in this beautiful series. However, the good thing is that if you have not read the previous books that gives you plenty of time to catch up and do so before you read it!! This is one of those books that is perfect for any reading situations whether you are laying on a beach or curled up in front of a fire. I absolutely LOVED the realism of this storyline which made it so easy to picture everything that was going on which had been helped by Hannah's fantastic evocative writing skills. Grab your copy today and fall in love with The Holly Berry sweet shop series today!!!
Well done Hannah on yet another absolutely page turning although extremely emotional addition to a gorgeous series!!!
Although this is the seventh book in 'The Holly Berry Sweet Shop' series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely invested in them all. It also makes them more realistic, believable and made me feel even more for them than I normally would. I loved meeting them all again in this book after falling in love with them in book 5 in this series after they very quickly became to feel like friends. I absolutely adore Holly who is just such a likeable, friendly and amazing woman who my heart absolutely broke for in this book. However it made me feel even more connected to her and showed how truly a beautiful person she is. There were just so many amazing characters that I loved getting to know that I could write about them all day but I don't want to bore you so I'll start to wrap it up here. Each of the characters are memorable and unique in their own ways and they are a group that I wont ever be forgetting any time soon! My heart is aching knowing that the next book will be the last one but i still look forward to reading it even though it means I will have to say my last Goodbye to these amazing characters that have become like friends! Well done Hannah on creating an absolutely beautiful selection of characters that I have loved getting to know and have fallen in love with!
Congratulations Hannah on an yet another absolutely amazing, although also extremely emotive, read that I just could not put down!!! I would absolutely love to see this series turned into movies!!! This is the exact reason you are on my favourite author list and here's to your next success 🥂
Overall an unputdownable although extremely emotional page turning book filled with family, tragedy, romance, heartbreak, friendship and so much more!!
