Both book one and two get 4 stars from me. The ending of book one having the gay/incest sex dream threw me for a loop. It ended the book on a note that left not excited for book 2 but grossed out. So book two started on a bad note due to book ones ending. Again, ran into some scenes in book two that I wasn’t a fan of and did not enjoy. If those scenes were left out, this book would have been 5 stars from me.
The characters and the questions being answered with their pasts was excellent. Main storyline was great.

Dreams of Ice and Shadow picks up right where A Vision in Crimson leaves off. Luca pushes Kate away to protect her from his father, and while he begins his hunt for Dracula, she helps her nephew take a throne. Along the way, Kate's magic stirs up quite a bit of trouble. In contrast to the first book, I felt that this sequel was more heavy on the fantasy/adventure/action parts than the romance. I think that for me personally, I was more interested in Luca and Kate's bond in this series than the action plot, so for that reason, I definitely enjoyed the first book more. However, if you did enjoy the first book, you should definitely read this book. The plot did not lack on keeping you at the edge of your seat. As everything heated up and came together, the atmosphere grew very intense. I think that the plot of this series has been very unique so far, and is unlike many other books I've read recently.

In Dreams of Ice and Shadows, Luca and Kate are faced with a crisis that tests their limits and their bond. Write a scene where Luca is grappling with the decision to undertake a dangerous and morally ambiguous action to resolve the issue they are facing. Show how this decision affects his relationship with Kate and reveals deeper aspects of his character. Incorporate elements from their past that add emotional weight to the situation, and explore Kate’s reaction as she learns about Luca’s internal struggle.

A deadly hunt.
A creeping curse.
A broken promise made in blood.

Troy really brought the heat with this second installment in the Frostbite Series!!

- A Steamy Romance
- Political Alliances
- Mûrdêr
- Dark Magic

Katelyn & Luca seem to be fighting their own battles this time, but their love helps keeps them connected even through dire situations.

Troy's writing style took me a while to get used to, but after reading A Vision In Crimson, I was prepared and I ended up really liking how her style fit this story!

The action in this book was non stop, I was actually finding myself wanting Katelyn and Luca to catch a break 😂😂

My favorite character was Alaric! I'm really hoping to see more of him as this series continues.

I'm looking forward to more books from Kathryn.

After reading A Vision in Crimson (book 1), I had some expectations for the sequel and it did not disappoint. LOVED IT!!! I really like the direction our author went with everything, how our characters develop and support each other through it all. I absolutely adore Kate and Luca's relationship. I really love this world Kathryn Troy has built and will continue reading this series and others she creates.

This book was an amazing experience. Kathryn Troy is such an amazing and fantastic author. She made one of the best books I read this year alone. So so good. 5 stars.

Unfortunately and with deep regret I will not be able to give an honest review. I initially didn’t realize this was a second in a series so I picked up book one in preparation for book two and needed to DNF due to content in chapter 22 of the first book.
