Could not get into the story. I wish there was more twist and turns from the start. I just couldn't get attached to the story line.

Thanks Netgalley for my copy.

This book is gross and disgusting and horrible - I love it

I enjoyed the scathing criticism of Capitalism and prejudice as well as the overly descriptive scenes of gore and yucky stuff. It was also good fun hating on the baddies with the MC too.

If you're a fan of this genre, you will probably work out the twist early on, I know I did. Then that pesky Author switched it up on me again, wiping the smug smirk off my face. I liked that

Looking forward to reading more by Ellis.

I absolutely loved this book! Such a great story and it really gets into you, you know what I mean? The writing made me feel like I was actually there and experiencing everything. To be honest, I saw twist coming 25% in the story, but the story still kept me hooked. This was my first book from Emma Ellis, and I think I am going to read more of her works. The world building was phenomenal! Love, love, loved this book!

This dark, speculative thriller is set in a dystopian world controlled by big corporates, where humans have to compete with AI to prove themselves worthy of their jobs, when AI could potentially be more productive, causing them to push themselves through exhaustion to breaking point. Layla and her colleagues at WIT are measured by IMAtech, an implant that monitors every second of their productivity.

After Layla’s girlfriend dies at the wheel of her car, through sheer exhaustion, her flatmate, Katarina, has a plan to put a stop to the abuse from rich corporate men and it’s about to get dark and deadly!

I was starting to wonder where it would end, as Katarina’s revenge became more and more shocking, and I really had no idea what to expect, so when the twists hit, I was completely stunned! So much so that I flicked back a few pages and read it again!

Absolutely genius! Well played, Emma Ellis 👏🏻

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Emma Ellis and Victory for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.....
This one was a bit weird for me....., it's not something I would usually read. I still wasn't sure what was going on throughout the book. Whilst it wasn't for me, I'm sure other people will love it

This was an enjoyable read, seeing Layla's grief and the build up of suspense and tension was well done.

Unfortunately this book is so not me. Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC copy though.
Centered around what seems like the not too distant future. When men are at the highest seat at the table, woman are really just play things, and AI is a looming treat to make people work harder.
Premise seems good. Cover looks good. But I couldn’t get into it. Put it down multiple times and kept telling myself to finish it. I tried. Got halfway through and called it a day.
To me, there seemed to be a lot of repetition. ‘Oh I’m such an introvert, can’t speak up, but my flatmate is Uber cool and opinionated, I wish I can be her’ Unsure what the ending is, I have a strong feeling I know what it is, but don’t want to waste another 4 hours finding out.

Be Her sees Layla navigate life with her housemate Katarina, who she looks up to. She works for a company that implants chips in their workers to monitor productivity, but as always things aren't as they seem....

This was a wonderful read!

To be really honest, this book really got on my nerve in those first few chapters!!

Guys: AI world setting, cheating, murders, queer, feminism, plot twist, creepy moments, you think you guessed it right, but you are wrong (at the end).

Layla works in a video game development company (WIT) that injects chips in employees their skins to basically monitor their productivity. But this chip does way more than monitoring. In a very messed way!!. WIT Is basically a modern slavery company in a thriving AI world that has an issue with women. They don't cut any slack of Downgrading them. - the whole time I was questioning why the hell someone would work there, I would die jobless -.
Layla is not at all happy at her work because it's torture but she doesn't have any other options. While layla is working her ass of, she also dwells. Her girlfriend Isobel died in an accident because of the company. Layla lives with Katarina her housemate. Katarina keeps telling Layla to take actions against the company but Layla ignores her. After all what can a poor woman like her do. Katarina assures her that things we get fixed, an eye for an eyes. Things starts to get messy when the owner of the company suddenly commits suicide.

💭: So after reading a few thrillers, I thought my prediction would be good. The author made me feel like I predicted it, just to prove me wrong at the very end. Because of that the suspense was a bit less but the surprise at the end covers that missing suspense.

Thank you netgalley and Victory Editing for this amazing book.

I kind of guessed the main twist half way through. I didn't connect with any of the characters and was expecting so much from the story. It took so long for anything relevant to happen. I'm a little disappointed about the main twist as I feel like it's been done so much already. I read until the end expecting it to be different, but was sadly disappointed. How we if you're not an avid thriller reader, you probably will be surprised by the ending.

Thank you NetGalley and he publisher for the ARC!

This was a captivating novel that delves deep into the intricacies of identity and self-discovery. The author has crafted a narrative that is as thought provoking as it is emotionally engaging, that daws you into a world where the characters' struggles and triumphs feel incredibly real and relatable.

The story is told from two perspectives; Layla and Kat, two women that live in a world ruled by men. Emma does an exceptional job of portraying the internal conflicts and external pressures that shape these charaters’ paths.

One of the standout aspects of Be Her is the way the author handles sensitive and challenging themes. Issues of identity, belonging, and self-acceptance are explored with a level empathy that is both refreshing and impactful.

While the book is undeniably powerful, there are moments where the pacing feels a bit slow for me which occasionally disrupted the flow of the story. I did also predict one of the first twists that happens in the book really early on, I remember reading something that seemed like foreshadowing and guessed what was going to happen.

In conclusion, Be Her is a compelling and beautifully written novel that offers a deep and meaningful exploration of identity and self-discovery.

⭐⭐⭐
Be Her by Emma Ellis is a dark and twisty story set in a world where AI and rich and powerful men dictate how the world runs.
First of all, I love the cover. Absolutely adorable. The blurb and cover made a completely different picture in my head. I don't know what I expected but unfortunately, I didn't get full satisfaction. I can't explain why but I struggle so much to connect with the story.

There are some crazy moments and some parts make you hate men, the way they talk and act is just mad!
In some way, this book shows the possibility of the future. The way it was presented felt so real and was easy to accept it as reality.
The end twist definitely will leave you with an open mouth!

The main characters Layla and Katarina are complicated, it's hard to work out how much you like or dislike them. Katarina is a strong character. Despite everything I think she was my favorite! Layla is more softy, she wants to be stronger but she can't work out how so the only way she comes up with is by trying to think like Katarina. But she doesn't know the real Katarina.

Thank you for this copy and I believe there will be many readers who will love this story!

Emma Ellis presents a chilling narrative in 'Be Her' set against the backdrop of a London controlled by the wealthy and powerful. The relationship between Layla and her housemate, Katarina, is intense, depicting the temptation of revenge in the face of personal tragedy. While the story feels grounded in a world that could be our own, the pacing occasionally stalls, and some plot twists are predictable. Nonetheless, Ellis's exploration of moral ambiguity and the consequences of unchecked power makes 'Be Her' a compelling read for fans of psychological thrillers
