I mean of course the Ramen King knows what he’s talking about! This book is so good. Lots on inventive recipes and not just your average ramen book.

Who knew ramen could bring out the gourmet in me. It's the one ingredient I know I will always find in my kitchen cupboard. Thank you for the inspiration. Truly a great gift idea for the upcoming holidays.

This was such a great read! I loved this book and thought the meals were inspired. My only issue (and this is a personal one so I feel like this isn't gonna bother anyone else) is that I'm a fussy eater (think 6 year old at dinner) and couldn't find a meal that I would enjoy.

What I did like was all the creative ways to use ramen in a meal which is why I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys ramen or is just looking to expand on their meals.

I love how simple this cookbook starts off and then just slowly escalates. I also really appreciated the pragmatic lists of “need to have” tools and “makes it easier” tools. I made the Pesto Chicken Ramen and it was delicious! The ingredients were under $15 and I had no idea that I would like pesto with egg and sriracha so much. Next, I want to try my hand at the ramen chicken and waffles recipe. My mom said she’d assist and we’re making a daughter/mom date of it. This book is full of really fun and accessible recipes. Definitely check it out!

Thank you Ivan McCombs, Quarto Publishing Group, and NetGalley for sharing the advanced copy of this book with me!

This book has some wonderful and bizarre ideas. The author shares many of his recipes (even Jail Ramem from his first video) but also brings his friends in for other recipes for a cool. variety. I just wish there were more recipes that didn't use the flavor packet included. I have to cut down my salt for my transplanted kidney.
I love the large amount of pictures especially pictures of the food. I always like to know what m y food should look like. The recipes are easy to follow and I'm going to try several.

Insanely Good Ramen Meals is an interesting cookbook full of recipes to elevate the humble instant noodle. With great accompanying photos and little stories about each version ramen is given a whole new life

The recipes are easy to follow and have a QR code for a video tutorial too. I particularly liked the common ingredient list as this makes it easy to cook a number of the recipes

'Insanely Good Ramen Meals: The Ramen King Ivan Cookbook' is a cookbook filled with recipes that all include ramen, or instant ramen to be exact. There are some crazy ones, I'll have to admit, but they all were very imaginative.

The book is also full of vivid photos for each recipe and the author provided a little story for each one, which I've found impressive and helped me connect with him.

However, as I wasn't familiar with this chef, I was expecting more recipes with no instant noodles as the main ingredient.

But, it's a fun book!

I enjoyed this book a great deal, and I plan to buy one for my adult daughter who loves ramen. She already experiments, but this book is great! The chef/author writes in a relatable way, and the recipes are super interesting. I love that there are photos for the recipes, and I think this elevates ramen to a whole new level.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for a digital ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Witty book with well-tested recipes and gorgeous photograph of each. Such a simple ingredient, but Ivan McCombs gently encourages you to try his recipes. His story of how the Ramen King came to life is inspirational. His guide to different types of noodles is a big help. There is even a QR code that takes you to Ivan McCombs’ You Tube site allowing you to learn even more about the recipes.

I hadn’t heard of this chef before but the ramen title caught my eye. Everything in this cookbook looks delicious! There is a picture with every single recipe and that’s one of my favorite qualities in a cookbook. The recipes look good, sound simple and don’t have hard to find ingredients.

I saved these recipes for later:
Korean style marinated eggs
My first video ramen
Ramen Turkey chili
Mac and cheese ramen
Your very basic cheesy ramen
Kimchi ramen
Angry struggle

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Insanely Good Ramen Meals is a fun cookbook for anyone who enjoys noodles and ramen dishes.
The author starts out with an introduction where he encourages you to play with and mix things up with your recipes as you use the book. He then goes on to explain what ramen is, the types of noodles you can use, equipment you need (as well as what is nice to have but not necessary, and special equipment too). I enjoyed that there was a frequently used during the book, ingredients list which I found really helpful and was easily sourced ingredients at a glance. The book then gets into the recipes, which are clear and simple to use and include a serving size guide, prep, and cook time, too. Each recipe has a colour photograph to accompany it, and there are some tips, notes, and even a QR code for a video to watch, too. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to get creative with their foods, especially ramen/noodles.

My partner loves ramen so I thought this book would be perfect for us,. The book provides a comprehensive look at the types of noodles available, the kitchen equipment needed, and some of the common ingredients used in these dishes. The recipes look easy to follow except I am in Australia so I do not have access to some of the ingredients. I really want to order a physical copy just to have it on my shelf! Overall looks like a really cool and fun cookbook with recipes I normally wouldn't think of or try.

I am a noodle fiend. I would live on noodles if I could. So I don't know how I haven't come across Ivan McCombs, who's known on social media as RamenKingIvan.

The book starts with a comprehensive look at the types of noodle available, as well as a list of the kitchen equipment needed to create these dishes, and some of the common ingredients.

There's a section on the basics, including bone broth and Korean-style marinated eggs.

Some of the recipes are very basic - as simple as heating a pack of instant ramen and adding an egg or some dumplings as toppings. Others are more unusual, including ideas for using fruit in ramen, or making ramen breakfast burritos.

There were a few recipes that were a bit more bizarre and 'out there'. I don't think I'm going to be blending up a Big Mac and fries to make a soup any time soon...

The book also contains ideas for using noodles in other ways, such as a crispy coating for fried chicken, or making ramen onion rings.

Some aspects of the book are quite American-centric, with some of the ingredients being things that aren't easily available in the UK, so that's something to be aware of.

In the final section, guests share some of their recipes, including 'struggle meals', which aren't all necessarily ramen.

The writing style is friendly and the recipes are easy to follow. There's nothing complicated about these dishes, they're all very accessible. The photography makes just about everything look tasty and appealing. Some of the recipes I would try, many I wouldn’t. And it's still a big no from me when it comes to the blended up McDonald's.

3.5 stars, rounded up.

We are a ramen loving family and I really liked how simple the recipes are in this book. They are all clearly written with enough explanations that my two teenage boys would be able to follow especially as the recipes use instant noodles.

We tried out some of the recipes which included the Korean style marinated eggs and the ramen chicken nuggets- both of which we really enjoyed especially my fussy eater son. There are still more recipes we want to try!

This is perfect for anyone living on a budget or in a dorm who likes the prepackaged ramen. I was hoping for more recipes that were from scratch, but also this is great. I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes with my husband. Also, the egg info toward the beginning was super helpful.

What a fantastically fun little cookbook! Ivan McCombs combines relative simplicity with some real out-of-the-box creativity, taking ramen to places I did not expect, but now would love to try on my own!
