This was an interesting collection of short stories. The overarching theme is gothic fiction, however there are a wide variety of interpretations and styles represented, and even time periods.

As with all anthologies, there were some that I really enjoyed, and some that didn't quite work for me. However the editors did a great job varying the stories so that they didn't become too repetitive.

Oddly enough, the stories I liked the most were the ones based on or influenced by other works, such as The Feast of Dead Man's Hollow and Dracula in the East End. I also enjoyed Ribbon of Blue Poison and Jacaranda House, among others.

This a fun read for fans of gothic literature or dark speculative fiction.

So good omg!!! I couldn't believe that I was reading a story with so much plot twists and creativity. I recommend everyone to read this book as fast as they can because it's really good.

Thanks to NetGalley and Brigids Gate Press for the ARC.

A solid collection of stories, some more gothic than romantic, others vice versus. I'm not kidding when I say the offerings vary greatly as far as the subject goes, I loved how different each was as far as protagonists, love interests, and locations. If you don't like one story, there's almost certainly something different in this collection that will suit your interests.

My favorites were Remnant by Allison Wall, As Twilight Falls on Sandthorn Hall by A. R. Frederiksen, Silver-Plated Promises by Rebecca E. Treasure, Dracula in East End by Theresa Tyree, The Phantoms of Wildridge Hall by Marianne Halbert, and The Die Has Been Cast by Makeda K. Braithwaite.

I’m not usually a short story person, I find them hard to relate too. By the very nature of an anthology, you’re going to get a mixed bag, regarding the quality of the stories themselves.
This one is no exception. I love the theme of the book, eerie, atmospheric, spooky….all my favourite things.
On the whole I found that the good stories here, far outweigh the bad.
Perfect for curling up with this coming Autumn season. Definitely recommend.

" Eerie, atmospheric, spooky, and sometimes with a bite" is EXACTLY this anthology of gothic tales. I LOVE gothic tales and movies and dove head first into this book. None of the stories disappointed and ticked all the creepy vibes that I long for. This is a perfect read for the "spooky" season for those who read by seasons but I say read it whenever! All the stories were beautiful and fascinating, but also sometimes horrifying! What's not to love?! If you love gothic horror, this is a must-read!

This was an eerie collection of gothic tales with a little bit of horror and a lot of romance. As in all short story collections there are some that are better than the others and this was true even for this book. I skipped a few where the language didn't tickle my fancy. Overall a good collection that I recommend when you need your lust for gothicness filled.

Anthologies are really hard to rate because there were some stories I liked and others I didn’t. This wasn’t my favourite anthology and I’m not sure there’s any stories I’d go back and reread, so I’d say this is a solid 3 stars for me. I enjoyed it while I read it but quickly forgot about everything I read. Nothing stood out really over anything else.

It's difficult to rate an anthology, because you're naturally going to like some stories more than others, so I'm primarily going to rate the editing. How are there so many editors listed, but this collection feel slapped together so sloppily? Did the contributors just present unedited Word docs to the editors in a discord channel with the expectation that they'd be given feedback? There's stylistic writing and then just plain laziness on the editors' part.

Can Brigid’s Gate Press publish something that isn’t fantastic or doesn’t tick all my horror loving boxes? I think the answer is no. Crimson Bones is a fantastic anthology that contains 22 tales, all of which are absolutely brilliant.

Each story offers something new but keeps a familiar thread of the eerie and atmospheric settings we can expect from gothic tales. While I adored all offerings I have to say that Jacaranda House and Remnant but each story was unique and enjoyable. The writing by each author was absolutely top tier for the genre. Building tension, worlds and atmosphere with each word.

If you are looking for the perfect spooky read and fiction that can be read  in one sitting you need to look no further than Crimson Bones. It will keep you up in the middle of the night if not with the scares definitely with reading just one more story!

Thank you to Netgalley and Brigid’s Gate Press for the e-ARC. My review is completely honest and left voluntarily.

What a fantastic book. 23 short horror stories. Every story was a brilliant read. Would defiantly pick this book back up around Halloween season. Super spooky 5stars.

This is one of the better collections of short stories I have read because of the variety. There's everything from hauntingly beautiful ("Ribbon of Blue Poison" by Agatha Andrews) to darkly humorous ("The Feast of Dead Man's Hollow" by Desirée M. Niccoli and "Dracula in East End" by Theresa Tyree) to absolutely heartbreaking ("Forever Home" by Vivian Kasley). If you like gothic horror, I'm pretty sure you'll find something you'll like.

Thank you so much to Brigids Gate Press and NetGalley for the ARC.
