This is a wonderful story of three women and the secrets in their lives. They are at a safe haven home, where they need to be. A great read.

Set at winter time in 1887 the story is about three women, with their own stories, which will keep you intrigued so much that will continue reading the book.

Their stories will make you feel every emotion and realise what people lived through during those times.

I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I enjoyed this book about three women and their secrets set in Victorian times. I was gripped from the start and it was an interesting reminder of how times have changed! It is a nice, easy read and I will look forward to reading more books by this author.

This is the story of Hetty Barlow and her sister Amelia who run the House of Hope.One night a girl rather battered comes to the door who says she has lost her memory so they call her Hope. Hope in time has too own up that she is pregnant but she was allowed to stay as she is a great help too them .Amelia wants too get away from her sister and this looks like happening when a young man comes into her life.Hope finally confides in Amelia that she has not lost her memory and is really called Emma.Really enjoyed reading this book.Thank you too Netgalley. and Canelo.

A historical saga about young women in need of a helping hand. The women in the story are all different and from different backgrounds but they connect in a way only they can understand. I enjoyed getting to know them and the plot felt mysterious with not knowing what Hope was up to. I look forward to meeting the girls again in the next book.

What a lovely story and can't wait to read the next instalment. When a woman is need of desperate help is brought to a house that helps women in need they had no idea who she was as she said had lost her memory. Emily was pretending to have lost it as she was scared she would end up in the workhouse. They gave her the name Hope and let her help around the home. Hope soon grew to love living there but was scared that her true identity would come out. She couldn't be found as her family wouldn't believe her story and why she had to run away.
I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next book in the Hope series.

In 1885, women who needed help turn to The House of Help and the women who ran it. Hetty Barlow is the Matron, and her sister, Amelia, is the Housekeeper. Secrets are being kept. A woman found on the doorstep claims to have amnesia. The home is a new experiment in dealing with destitute women. But will the experiment work? Or will Hetty and the women end op back on the streets?

I have only read one other book by the author, a mistake I hope to rectify soon. The characters are well-developed, the pace is steady, and I can't wait to read the second book in the series.

I do love a first book in a series and this one did not disappoint. I was very pleasantly surprised and I really enjoyed reading this one and look forward to what comes next.

In the winter of 1887 this Victorian saga is one that will draw you in and grip you so you won't be able to put this book down. This book revolves around 3 women and all of them bring something interesting and intriguing to this story. They each have a story, stories that will bring your emotions to the fore and will make you understand what life was like in these times.

I love historical books and this in=s one of the best ones I have read lately. I highly recommend it and look forward to seeing what comes next in this series.

I just loved everything about this book. I enjoyed delving into life in Victorian times and the hardships many young women faced through no fault of their own. It always saddens me how women were treated.

Set in a woman's refuge, the story begins when a young woman is left on the doorstep, claiming she has amnesia.

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and their backstorys, secrets, and how the power of friendship gets them through difficult times. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Absolutely loved this book which is the first of a new series by this author, I have read all her other books so I knew it would be good. Its the story of the House of Help and its occupants who need help and are welcomed into the care of the ladies who run the house. This story is about Hetty who is the warden and Amelia who is her sister and the housekeeper, Hetty is keeping a secret from Amelia and dreads what will happen when she tells.. Then the arrival of a lady one evening is a poor state and needs help and who is given the name Hope who also has a secret.

Read it and enjoy it, I did and I wait for the next instalment

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but, I understand it’s part of a series. I definitely look forward to reading more about the characters!

In this book a few characters will capture your heart as you wish good thing for them.
When a young woman is found on the steps of The House of Help she is so traumatised by her ordeal at the hands of someone known to her she pretends that she can’t remember her name, so it’s decided to call her Hope, which is quite apt as hope is the thing that carries her through the future.

Warden Hetty Barlow has taken this job on false pretences as she was desperate to escape her aunt Gertie (who has a liking for seances). So Hetty takes off with sister Amelia in tow and secures the post with false papers, will she be found out? Her heart is in the right place, I quite took to her.
Amelia’s head is turned by “patter merchant” Linu Harmon who Hetty doesn’t much care for. Will she convince Amelia or push them closer.

I so look forward to the next in this new series.

The House of Hope by Joanne Claque

A wonderful and heartmoving story about girls who a very much down on their luck ( at a times when women in general are not really regarded well )
Hetty is a warden of place that they can find some sort of sanctuary in , but she herself has a story to tell.
Well written , great characters , and the author has really managed to capture the era,

A heartwarming story about unfortunate girls who find themselves destitute, homeless and in need of a safe haven. Hetty who is warden of a house for these destitute girls, is herself shrouded by mystery. A wonderful book, hope there are many more to follow.

The House of Hope is a gripping Victorian era story. It is the first of a series and I can’t wait to read the next. It is a story of hope and new beginnings.
