Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown, and Company for providing me with an egalley to read and give my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
This title is a story told through the interviews of the survivors of the Black Thursday plane crashes. What a great premise. What a terrible execution.
I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters in this book. There was nothing that made them reliable or even likeable. Plus the fact that it took forever to actually meet them and figure out who anyone was. I wanted emotion because so many died, but it just didn't come.
I also didn't like the format. It was jumbled and confusing. I'm not much into documentary style writing, is what I got from pushing through this one.
There's also a lot of referral to race, religion, or sexual preferences in this that gave me the ick. Everyone was identified by this, rather than just showing us who the characters are.
Unfortunately this one dragged for me. I wanted to be invested but just could not bring myself to love it enough to do so. I pushed through to the end but still felt unfulfilled by the story.
I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.
