I’m sorry to say I found this boring and slow moving. The love happened quickly and without being earned. I didn’t sense any chemistry, and the hero was very forward with the heroine. There was a lot of travelling, via increasingly uncomfortable methods of conveyance, and a fair amount of vomiting.
I read an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
I thought this was such a sweet story of not only romance, but the importance of family! I love stories that show sweet familial relationships! Anna and James's relationship was a little quick for me, but I loved how passionate the two were. Super good, will definitely recommend this book. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy!
This book is set after Napoleon has been captured the second time. Anna's brother Avery was fighting in the war, but with his father and older brother dead, he is the next Earl. Unfortunately, he has been listed as missing in action.
Anna does not want the title to go to her worthless cousin, so she decides to travel to France to find out the truth about Avery. Is he alive or dead?
Her journey is arduous, full of danger, deceit, and one helpful gentleman.
This was not my favorite, I didn't love the writing style. It was clean.
