Enemies to Lovers set in journalism world. Will is looking to get ahead and is trying to take Anna's column and Anna is just trying to survive after a divorce. The banter in this book especially the children is amazing. I laughed out loud reading it and never wanted it to end.
I highly recommend for fans of Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez.
It's just that all Sophie's books are to be enjoyed, with this one I laughed from the beginning and enjoyed Anna and Will. The dates are amazing, and very, very funny. Same with the Google searches.
This book gave me the whole time the vibe of the movie how to lose a guy in 10 days. So if you're from the same era as me, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did. The humor that Sophie captures in her books is simply unique.
This was an enjoyable read about rediscovering yourself and love as well. I liked Anna as a leading lady and the series of dates chosen by her kids were entertaining. I liked that she took something useful from each one and as the story progresses she gains new friends and rebuilds herself parts of herself she thought had been lost as well. Really liked her relationship with Will and that undercurrent of tension running through each of their interactions, things with them played out exactly right and the ending was really fitting. 4 🌟
I had a difficult time getting into this book. The book started out strong with the main characters but slowly lost steam a few chapters in. I love Sophie Cousins but this book was not for me.
4.5 stars will be coming back with deeper thoughts on release week and sharing father reviews but this was such a beautiful emotional ride.
Wow - I loved this! It was really well done. We might Anna a year after her divorce is finalized.. her husband has moved in with a much younger woman and Anna feels like she is struggling at both home and work. In a desperate attempt to keep her job at the local magazine, Anna offers to write a dating column. The catch? Her kids have to pick her dates. It was really funny and well done!
I knew I had to read this book, because it's a Sophie Cousens book. I've enjoyed every book I have read by this author, and this book did not disappoint. It was a little predictable, but sometimes that's okay. The banter between the main characters was fun, and their chemistry was great. Sophie knows how to write a romance that people will enjoy.
It's always a treat when a new Sophie Cousens novel arrives. This one is out on November 19, and it's just as warm and witty as I've come to expect from her books. Cousens has become one of my favorite romance authors in the last few years, and I love how she writes slightly older characters. This newest one is about a young divorcee who falls in love with her slightly younger work rival when they both begin writing for the same column at their magazine. If you love classic 1990s rom-coms and Cousens' other novels, especially The Good Part, then you'll love this one too!
I absolutely ADORED this book. The chemistry was insane, the BANTER!! I also loved the parts of the book with Anna and her kids and loved seeing what she learned from each of the dates. It was spectacular. 5/5 and I will probably read it again because it made me cackle and swoon all in the same sentence.
This is a single mother / getting back into dating after a divorce story, but neither of those felt overwhelming. I’ve neither gone through a divorce nor had children, but had no problem immediately connecting with these characters.
This isn’t an open door romance, but the fade to black is done exactly how I would want it - we’re in all the angst, we see all the build up, we see how the first move is made, and despite the scene cutting away, I don’t feel like I was missing any of the chemistry or important moments between the characters.
I loved this book, and I’ll be on the lookout for any future books by this author!
Honestly, I really liked this book! The ending was predictable, but you couldn’t help but root for Will and Anna. This is a book that I will absolutely recommend to others.
This is one of those books that makes me wonder if it’s really perfect or is it just perfect for me? But lord, I love Sophie Cousens and I adored this book and its premise.
It has some of my favorite tropes – a chaotic and funny single mother character, two charming kids, and a rivals-to-lovers plot with a delightfully cocky MMC who’s secretly a sweetheart. (He calls her by her last name! When I got to the part explaining he had monogrammed clothing I squealed! He’s wonderful with her children!), and perfect British wit. The burn is slow, but so good.
The side characters made me chuckle, especially Noah and Michael’s dynamic. Divorce is tackled so frankly and honestly in this book as well.
And the epilogue!!! So sweet.

While I didn't hate this book, I didn't exactly love it either. I found the fmc a little annoying at times, but completely loved the mmc. Still a decent work place/enemies to lovers romance.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts are my own.

Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Sophie Cousens is cute but not just fluff at all. It’s got all the fun of a rom-com movie. Despite being a post-divorce dating trope, it's not a downer.
Anna is trying hard to win at life again, even though it’s not easy. Her ex has a new girlfriend who seems perfect, her job keeps pushing her to be more “millennial,” and she’s learning how to date after a divorce when she never really dated pre divorce. Not loving the whole online dating thing, she starts letting her kids choose people for her to ask out. These side characters are fantastic by the way.
The banter between Anna and the male lead is perfection. It’s easygoing and real, and I loved that both characters were so close to their families—wholesome in the best way. There’s no spice, just a fade-to-black connection, but you can still feel the chemistry.
I actually liked this one more than Cousens’ This Time Next Year. If you want a rom-com that’s lighthearted yet has depth, Is She Really Going Out With Him? is a must-read!

I love Sophie Cousens’ writing. When I read the synopsis of this one I wasn’t sold, but I could not put this book down! It was funny and romantic and a perfect comfort read.

I FREAKING LOVED THIS ONE. The only reason it is not a five-star read is that the third act breakup was super irritating. I would love to see a contemporary romance where the conflict in the third act didn't make the couple break up, but they worked through it together.
Soap box aside: This was funny, sweet, mature, and made me feel giddy the whole time reading it. Everything you want from a romance. I am here for any and all Sophie Cousens books, please, and thank you.
I had read two of Sophie Cousen's previous releases so I was excited to receive an ARC of Is She Really Going Out with Him?
Anna is a single mother of two who is recently divorced. She agrees on a whim to let her two young children pick her dates for her and she has agreed to write about the dates in her column for the magazine she writes for.
This is a fun face paced easy read.

The Matchmaker's Mistake is a cute and cozy rom-com. It's fun to watch Anna, a divorced columnist, navigate the dating world with the help of her kids. The premise is unique and the author does a good job of balancing humor and heart.
While the story is enjoyable, it feels a bit predictable at times. Still, it's a light and breezy read perfect for a lazy weekend.
I LOVED THIS!!!! Sassy, hilarious and so inventive. This will be a book club read for SURE! Thank you to Sophie and the publisher for letting me read and review. 💕 full review to be updated shortly on socials.
I absolutely loved this book. It pulled me in immediately and I loved the premise of the kids being so engaged in the dating assignment. I connected to the characters and loved the dialogue. The writing was so vivid and easy to imagine the settings and scenes. A week later and I’m still thinking about this story. This was a home run 5 star read for me.
