This is my first Sophie Cousens book but it certainly will not be my last. I have not enjoyed a novel this much in a very long time. This work place romantic comedy a delight to read. The author keep it so interesting you did not want it to end. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sophie Cousens is an auto buy for me. I was so excited for this ARC and it did not disappoint!! Recent divorceé Anna is in her I’m single and I’m proud and don’t need anyone except my 2 kids and old cat phase. For 18 months. And it keeps going. Which is okay for her until her job as an Arts and Culture columnist in her local city’s magazine is jeopardized. To make the column appealing to a broader audience, she’s asked to write a dating column. But dating?!?! Dating?!?! Anna doesn’t do dating. After some terrible online dates (which truly sound terrible), she’s at a loss of ideas until her kids start recommending people and so the column is born. She goes on hilarious date after hilarious date (hilarious for us, a bit mortifying for her). But while all this is happening, her super hot, green eyed, much younger, annoyingly charming, and beyond cocky colleague is trying to steal her column. He gets the job of writing the online dating portion while she does the real life dates. But what blossoms between these two enemies is the tropes I love. Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, grumpy FMC, and more. This heartfelt story about someone putting their life back together and finding new love in unexpected places is smart and funny in classic @sophie_cousens fashion. Bravo 🙌 🎉 go pick it up and add it to your #TBR! Coming out November 19!

Thanks @netgalley #netgalley and @putnambooks for the ARC #IsSheReallyGoingOutWithHim

After some horror reads, I was looking for a lighter reads, and this book delivered. This is a fun and lighthearted romcom with an entertaining twist on a familiar trope. I loved Anna so much, a divorced journalist and mom of two kids who is happily single. However, when she learns she might be made redundant at her job, she decides to shake things up at work, and agrees to go on dates set up by her kids. Oh, and the guy who’s always nitpicking her work, is going to do a companion piece to hers. I love that romcoms are predictable. They comfort me in that way, and this book was just that, it was comforting in the best possible way. Oh, and then the banter. I love the banter in a good rom-com and this book was delightful. At times I was giggling to myself, and I was glad my husband wasn’t around to interrupt me wondering what was going on. I loved the journey that Anna went on in order to get her happy ending. It was heartwarming and her growth was wonderful. I also felt that the way she reacted to her ex-husband’s new girlfriend was best case scenario, and goals, but it was written so wonderfully that it felt realistic.

I love a good age gap story. I love watching Anna navigate her life after divorce along with her 2 kids. I think we all have a specific opinion on someone and they always for the most part prove us wrong- like Will did!

Thank you for the ARC!

The banter was so good honestly. This is not a spicy romcom. You are guaranteed to be giggling. It’s a cute work rivals to lovers. It’s so cute y’all. I’m going to let my mom read this one 🤣🩷

I have never been disappointed with a book written by Sophie Cousens and Is She Really Going Out with Him is no exception. Anna is a divorced mom of two who's happy being single, but to try and keep her column in the local magazine she works at, she agrees to go on dates picked by her children and write about them. This was lovely well written story about all the ways to move on after any kind of loss and how to find what is most important in your life and how to move forward. Every new book my her becomes my favorite giving this one 4 stars. I want to thank NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was not expecting to love this book but I did! It left me with a book hangover in the best possible way! I really enjoyed the family aspect of the story and loved the story arc of the female main character. I will definitely recommend this book and look forward to the next Sophie Cousens book!

This is an absolute delight and is everything I want in a romantic comedy! A divorced mother of two, struggling to regain her footing feels the competition with her younger, more confident colleague. But there’s a whole lot more to Will once Anna gets to know him. This book incorporated many favorite tropes in an enjoyable way keeping things heartfelt yet light and fun.
Despite Anna’s impressions of Will being an arrogant competitive playboy, he’s anything but! Thank you, Sophie Cousens for not dragging out any miscommunications! Anna puts herself out there and vulnerably speaks up with what she’s feeling and thinking!
The dates set up by Anna’s children add humor, vulnerability and warmth to the story! It was a great side story! And Jonathan’s musings at the end of the book had me laughing and blushing! And the Google searches at the beginning of each chapter were just another touch adding to the humor!
Some of the tropes included:
Single mom
Age Gap
Enemies to lovers
Work place romance
He falls first
One bed, forced proximity

Anna needs help with a lot of things after her divorce to her college sweetheart. But the one thing she actively avoids is being mixed up with her coworker, Will.

The character development, the banter, the second hand embarrassment. It’s all there. She never disappoints. I read this in one day. I could not put it down.

I’d highly recommend. I think my favorite so far by Sophie Cousens

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A divorced single mother working as a journalist has a younger coworker who arrogantly mansplains. First comes drama, then...

This was such a fun read, and I was really rooting for Will and Anna the whole way through. They were great foils for one another throughout the story. If you love romance tropes, Is She Really Going Out with Him? has a lot of your bases covered; enemies to lovers, one bed, stuck together, forced proximity, age gap, office romance, blind date.

Anna's concerns as a divorced mom of two felt real and valid. Will's life, while not as charmed as Anna perceived it, was a great contrast to her's and helped sell the idea of her falling for him. I enjoyed the blind dates Anna's children set her up on, and the friendships she was able to develop along the way.

Thank you to Sophie Cousens, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Another fun story by Sophie Cousens! After loving The Good Part last year, I am so happy that this story was equally enjoyed. Some aspects that I loved:

-Single mom main character
-Cinnamon roll MMC
-The premise of kids suggesting her dates

Occasionally I felt a bit frustrated with Anna's stubbornness, but this was such an enjoyable read that I can overlook that small critique.

I do wish the title had more relevance to the plot.

Sophie Cousens does it again! In this incredibly hilarious yet heartfelt novel, Is She Really Going Out with Him? explores the inconvenience of love. Anna Appleby is a columnist for Bath Living, and when her job security is threatened, she takes on a new aspirational dating column: going on dates set up by her children.

Cousens is incredibly skilled at characterization. Each character felt realistic, and for a book with so many characters, it was easy to remember who was who! I certainly had my favorites (Loretta and Will!!) This book was complex, yet easy to read. Definitely worth the read!

Thank you to Netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the ARC! All opinions are my own.

I love when a book has a nice message weaved into a great story and I feel like this book delivered on that. I also love that this book puts a fresh spin on some classic romance tropes.

This is my first Sophie Cousens novel, but it definitely won't be my last. Is She Really Going Out with Him? is a fun, funny, and sweet enemies-to-lovers romance, with a strong emphasis on self-growth in the heroine as much as the love story. Anna is a divorced single mother, and when there are changes at the periodical she works for, she is pushed outside of her comfort zone and forced to start dating again to save her column. As a twist, she has to go out on dates that her children choose for her, set against her work rival Will doing a complementary column about dating through modern online methods. Will is a bit too-good-to-be-true, but I enjoyed Anna's journey and appreciated the way Cousens decided to write Will and Anna's HEA. There are some really funny moments and some nice side characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam | G.P. Putnam's Sons for a digital review coy.

Sophie Cousens is a definite go to author for me. Her writing never disappoints and she always has fresh new stories. I also love a good enemies to lovers book.

Is She Really Going Out With Him had humor, sadness, empathy and love. Anna was so likable, and her kids definitely stole the show in this book! It was so funny to see the different dates they picked for her and why. I think the reason I enjoyed Anna so much is that she is very relatable and I love when a book can be fiction but also closely resemble real life.

4 stars

This book was adorable! "Is She Really Going Out with Him?" by Sophie Cousens tells the story of Anna, a newly divorced mother of 2 who doesn't need to date for her own personal reasons, but does because her job a journalist depends on it. Anna is competing with a younger and eager journalist, Will, for the back page spread in failing magazine she works for. Sophie is navigating life change for herself and her kids and doesn't want to add changing careers to that list. She pitches an idea to have her kids pick her dates after floundering with the online dating crowd. What ensues are funny, heartwarming and sometimes maddening dates. But along the way she also gets to know Will better.

I really enjoyed this book. I read most of it in one sitting. I think Anna and Will's banter was top notch, but I felt the ending was lacking a bit. I don't know that I believe the HEA of it all, but I also that that could have been the author's point. Life doesn't always go as you planned, but if you take it day by day things can look bright.

Thanks to Putnam for the gifted ARC!

This is absolutely my favorite Sophie Cousens book yet and is going on my list of favorites for the year.

Sophie wrote a romance that speaks to mothers, divorcees, and lovers of enemies-to-lovers workplace romance like The Hating Game. Anna Appleby is SO relatable - she goes on dates chosen by her kids and OH MY GOODNESS are they hysterical and just so awkward sometimes... and I feel like I'd be in the same position on so many of the dates. But Anna puts herself out there, goes through hard parenting moments and a kid who JUST WANTS A PET AXOLOTL, and tries not to fall in love with her coworker, Will freaking Havers. Honestly, by the end of this book, *I* was in love with Will Havers, and you will be, too. It was the little things of packing coffee for a car ride, to being "worth a little indulgence", to that WINDOW SCENE. It was perfect. Read this please.

IS SHE REALLY GOING OUT WITH HIM by Sophie Cousens ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 It was easy to know very early on I was going to love this one. I was giggling from the first, cringeworthy date Anna goes on. But oh gosh, as soon as we, (Anna and myself), fell in love with Will, I could NOT put this book down. I loved the story of this divorced mom moving on and finding the love she deserves. Anna was such a lovable character, a great mom, and I was invested in her story! There were a few parts that were a little predictable, but still fully enjoyable. I can already tell this book will be a crowd favorite.

Anna is a divorced writer whose column is threatened by a coworker. To save her column, she agrees to a dating segment by going on dates chosen by her kids. Through these dates, Anna learns what she wants for herself.
